I've always drummed as a hobby, and have studied music education enough. I'm not an expert drummer, but I've done my fair amount of playing. Cannot do drum lessons at my location due to noise complaints.
Hey! My name is Kyle S. and I'm incredibly passionate about music education for all ages. Over twenty years of playing all instruments has taught me there is not one specific way to teach music, so I change my curriculum for every student and completely customize what you learn to how you learn, and what you're interested in. I started teaching music lessons in after school programs when I was eleven and fell totally in love. I continued to do this for many years driving to neighboring towns, volunteering at church youth groups and local Boys and Girls Club all around my hometown. I went on to study Music Education at Oregon State University and Guitar Performance at the University of Oregon and Jazz Performance on Guitar at Portland State University! At each of these Universities
Kids want to learn to play but don't realize how hard it is, so we try to keep it light and interesting and enjoyable, so that they are enthusiastic about music as JOY and not as a chore!

I download sheet music to favorite songs for them to read and play along with!

I am a versatile drummer and use a lot of different styles in my playing. I can teach beginning to intermediate drummer, whether working on rudiments on the just the snare or working with the whole drum kit. I want to focus my lessons around my students to ensure they get what they want for their own playing.
Hey there! I have been playing drums for 15 years, starting at the age of nine. I played drums all through high school in superior rated jazz and symphonic bands. I also took lessons from the jazz drummer, Les De Merle, for 2 1/2 years. I would say my style of drumming is a mixture of jazz, rock and a progressive style of playing. I am open to all forms of teaching and would love to create personalized lessons for each of my students, highlighting what they want to get out their lessons to create their own style of drumming!
