Nicole has helped me changed the fundamental way I produce tone, but not in such a way that I feel like I'm starting from square one, which would have been frustrating. Step by step we've been working on breathing, support, and a fluidity of motion through notes. She focuses on getting me to observe what I am doing differently and how I feel, in a very specific sense, each time we go through a piece or an exercise. This has helped me consciously improve my technique and given me a valuable asset in practice.
Nicole runs her studio very professionally. She is very good about being in contact and always 100% ready to teach at the start of our lesson. On top of all that, she offers positive reinforcement as I sing, not at the expense of critique, but it makes for a collegial environment that I much appreciate.
I highly recommend Nicole if you are seeking voice lessons."

Sheer technique is necessary but insufficient to play an instrument well. Aural skills, that include the study of functional tonality and voice-leading are important factors that impart musicality. This is of great import if the prospective musician wants the audience to truly enjoy his or her performance !
Whether it be the 3 Rs or preparation in the performing arts, a remarkable instructor must go well beyond the subject matter at hand and help imbue the student with a spirit of wonder that, in due time, will foster enthusiasm necessary for excellence.
A child emulates and learns to communicate in his or her mother-tongue through a supporting and nurturing environment. Likewise, a student needs to be sufficiently motivated to embrace learning in a familiar supportive manner.

As a private music instructor for the past 15 years, I personally have been granted the opportunity to teach a wide variety of music students. I have taught students ranging in age from 6 to 65. I have taught students from various ethnic and economic backgrounds. I have taught students with various physical, emotional, and learning disabilities. Regardless of the situation, I have always approached each lesson with the idea that every student deserves my best efforts as a teacher. This is because I believe that everyone, regardless of age, cultural heritage, ability, or financial circumstance deserve the opportunity to participate in the best music experiences possible.
I believe that everyone has the ability to learn to play a musical instrument and achieve success on it if they possess the desire to do so. This is because music is a vital part of the human experience. Music has the ability to turn ordinary life experiences into extraordinary ones. Think of everyday events such as: waking up in the morning, commuting to and from work or school, going through the work or school day, going to dinner with a friend or loved one, going to a sporting event, watching a movie or television show, or working out at the gym. Now, picture what these everyday events would be like without the presence of music. Without music, these experiences would be extremely dull and we as human beings would not be able to full appreciate the wonderful moments in our lives.
As a music educator, my promise is to guide my students through the journey of learning to play music so they can experience the joy that it brings into their lives and the lives of others. I promise to help my students realize their full musical potential. I will always treat each student equally with fairness and respect, provide the best possible atmosphere for their growth, and recognize that each student is unique in how they learn and grow.

I was skeptical how lessons via Skype would work out. The format actually works great! We are rurally located, so any other way to get lessons would be difficult. So now, 1x per week my son is able to connect with Corbin...technology really is pretty awesome.
My son looks forward to each lesson! So, it's 5-stars from him as well.
I had an early desire to teach others and have been doing so since 1985. Having performed in many musical venues, I naturally wanted to share what I have learned with others aspiring to perform.

Mastering breath support -- and continuing to improve it as you progress as a singer -- is crucial to your success. Here, Toledo, OH teacher Elizabeth B. shares a helpful exercise to try... As a young singer I had no idea how important breath support was to singing. I would stab blindly at a phrase and hope that I had taken in enough air. Most of the time, I was unsuccessful. It wasnt until I finished my master's degree that I had any kind of understanding of how to sustain my air. … Read More
