He is so great! He is wonderful at going over what needs to be done to reach what I want to do with my vocals. He does step by step and is great at working with me.
I look forward to continuing my lessons with him. He's the only one that was willing to work with me on what I want for my vocals. So definitely highly recommend

Maria M.

Philadelphia, PA

Students will learn proper singing technique and songs suited to their personal interests in order to establish a solid foundation.

About Maria

At a young age, I found my passion through playing and listening to jazz and classical music and experiencing the interpersonal connections music creates. From performing to teaching, I love to share my passion for music with those around me.

Since graduating from Temple University with a B.M. in Music Education and Jazz Studies, I have played with musical groups in Europe and recently became a K-8 general music teacher in Philadelphia. Playing and teaching around the world and at home has given me great insight into how students need to be taught: with relevancy to their own lives while m
aintaining artistry and integrity.

My teaching experience ranges from private lessons and jazz workshops to summer music camps and K-12 music classes. I love teaching and will probably never stop!

*** Lesson Details ***
I believe it is important to solidify the foundations of music, so that the student can grow into a knowledgeable, expressive musician. My lessons are taught with a personal and energetic approach leaving the student excited and eager to further explore music. I always make sure that the student is having fun!

Learning an instrument is all about personal growth as a musician. I will help my students become better musicians week by week as long as they are willing to practice and come prepared for the lesson.

*** Studio Equipment ***
I will provide a metronome, tuner, music stand and some music books/repertoire. Student may need to provide their own lesson books.

*** Specialties ***
I specialize in classical techniques, improvisation, composition and songwriting.

Maria is my first sax teacher and i loveeeed her. She is extremely patient, and knows how to teach (which is so important). She also inspires me for jazz solo pieces. I remember one time she just asked me to improvise and great music was "forced" out of my horn.

She is a great teacher and I would def have kept taking lessons from her if not she moved out of town. I am really hoping that she will return and do lessons with me again.

I can't say enough about how great Maria is! She was quickly able to assess my ability and create a unique lesson plan catering to my goals. Each lesson was informative, fun, and most importantly- helped immensely with my playing. I happily recommend Maria to anyone hoping to expand their musical horizons.

I am not a trained vocalist.I don't sight sing and I have difficulty reading music. In fact, I basically memorize the music. However, I love to sing. Erin wasn't afraid to take me on knowing I would probably be her most challenging yet eager student.I appreciated her ability to quickly figure out both my strengths and my areas that I needed to focus more attention on. She was always positive and encouraging. She would explain the message the lyrics of the songs were portraying. Her lessons were more than just singing the perfect notes. Techniques to protect my voice was of utmost importance. Erin never limited herself to just one way of helping me accomplishing a new vocal skill. Now that she has moved on to grow and expand her career, I will be forever grateful to her for the lessons I had. Thank goodness I taped all my lessons!

Erin has a beautiful gift in instructing children. She is encouraging and professional. Her ability to bring out the best voice in a child is inspiring and unique. My daughter (age 12) looked forward to every lesson with Erin. Erin gave her the confidence to sing for others and auditions. Erin's lesson was so well organized that the child could take those instructions and use them independently for practice. The lessons that we received from Erin will last a lifetime. She truly has a gift and I'm thankful we were recipients of that gift.

Very comfortable singing environment which made it easier to relax and learn. Angela is very pleasant and has great enthusiasm, also very encouraging and informative. She drew great word pictures that helped me visualize technique and tried a wide variety of strategies, while not letting any bad habits slide. I got further in one lesson than any vocal lessons I've had before.
