Ryan B. Saint Louis, MO

About Ryan

Hello, my name is Ryan B. I appreciate the responsibility, dedication and hard work that comes along with being a music teacher. To me nothing is more rewarding than the students improvement and their personal feelings of success. Since I have learned how to play a variety of instruments over the course of several years, I have learned how to gather and utilize skills and techniques that I have learned from many great musicians. That means I can take these diverse skills and pass them on to my students! And I am very good at finding just what the student needs to expand their musical horizons. Training: -I have been playing a variety of musical instruments (examples are guitar, piano, trombone, saxophone, trumpet, flute, and many more) for seven years -I am very familiar with ...

Enthusiasm that spreads! His excitement and passion for music truly inspired me.

Ryan is personable, eclectic and respectful. I met him while performing at a show with my old band. He had along his flute and saxophone. Excellent with any ability level and of all ages of students! He is well-versed in many different genres and on many different instruments, although he taught me saxophone. His enthusiasm and passion is contagious!

About Richard

Music is my life. Since the age of 16, I have studied the guitar extensively. During my high-school years I was involved in band, marching band, choir, and independent music theory. I started my first band when I was 19 in the U.S. Army, and my life has never been the same since. I played music professionally in local bands while attending UMSL and have been teaching guitar and musical performance to many students privately for the last 7 years while developing and exploring my own musical goals. Recently I have written, produced, and performed on 5 original music albums, toured from St Louis to Texas and Colorado, and have learned many things about humanity and our culture's relationship to music. Those who share a passion for music form an extraordinary community. Come take the ...

My 16 year old son has been taking guitar lesson with Richard D. for a few months now. First I must say Richard is a extremely nice person. My son think he is a cool guy and looks up to him. My son never played the guitar prior to lesson with Richard, now I can actually hear a song when my son play his guitar. Thank you Richard::::

Perfect fit for my daughter

My 17 year old daughter recently began taking lessons with Richard D., and we couldn't be happier. He is patient and encouraging, and he makes learning fun. She really appreciates the fact that he encourages her to work on music that she likes rather than telling her what songs to learn. He obviously knows his instrument, and clearly enjoys passing on his knowledge. A+ for this teacher!

Teaching Musicianship

Richie and I have been playing, performing, arranging, and writing together for 3 years. Richie is a highly skilled musician with wide ranging tastes and talents. He is well versed in many styles of music; rock, classic rock, country, blues, classical, and jazz. He knows well how to break down a piece of music and explain and teach it. I have been a professional musician for years, and Richie has taught me much. He can teach you too.
David M. Saint Louis, MO

About David

Composer and guitarist David began formal music training at the age of 5 on the drums. He taught himself guitar as a teenager and began playing in local rock bands. Initially entering college as a Journalism major, his passion for music led him to Meramec College where he studied Music Theory with Robert C. Howard and classical guitar with Larry Bolles. From 1990 through 1993, he attended Webster University, and became only the second composer in the school's history to receive the BM/MM Scholarship. While at Webster, he studied composition with Dr. Kendall Stallings, Robert Chamberlin, and Kim Portnoy, Jazz History with Paul Demarinis, and 18th Century Counterpoint with Dr. Eloise Jarvis. During his education, he performed with many student ensembles and sat in on master classes by the ...

I've been learning songwriting and music theory from David and it couldn't be any better. He's very professional and personable, and he makes sure to work with you, not above you. He shows a genuine enthusiasm for his students' musical interests and formulates instruction around them. David encourages questions, which creates a comfortable and effective teacher-student interaction. Between my weekly lessons, I find myself impatiently counting down the days until my next scheduled lesson. While the genre of songwriting that I've been working on with David's guidance has been contemporary Christian, I'm sure that he would be an effective teacher in any genre, whether the student were writing songs or playing them.

After the initial panic of trying to learn something at such a ripe old age I was reassured by other reviews that David would be the best bet. They were correct and I recommend him to any age group. After a welcome at the front door assuring me that I was at the right location, he excels in making you feel comfortable. He listens to questions and told me no question was stupid. Takes everything at your speed and recaps from the week before. Is thorough and stops you when finger placement is not correct so you don't begin bad habits. Looks up and acquaints himself with the songs that you want to learn and will stop covering a certain area if you do not want to learn it. He sends you home with just the right amount of practice work and after 3 lessons I feel like I'm getting all of what he's teaching and am improving and adding on more lessons. So happy that I chose David.

My Outstanding Journey

I can't say enough about what I have learned over the past year. To be able to play the gift of music and understand the foundation of it's existence, is truly an edifying experience. My instructor has been absolutely fabulous. His patience, knowledge and his keen ability to translate his knowledge to the specific level of understanding of his students, is nothing short of great. Kudos to you all for having the resident talent to make my, and others, dreams of learning to play music a reality.

Best of wishes to all this upcoming New Year.

About Lisa

My love of singing began with my mother. She is an amazing singer but didn't really receive training, so she encouraged me to pursue singing. I was in choirs since 3rd grade and started voice lessons in 8th grade. My senior year in high school I was part of a choir that was invited to sing on NPR's From The Top! It was a thrilling experience. I received a bachelor of music degree in vocal performance from Covenant College in Lookout Mountain, Georgia. I participated in choirs, musicals, and other performance venues, including two recitals. Since graduation I have moved to St. Louis to pursue singing and teaching. I am excited to share my love of singing with you! *** Lesson Details *** I want to facilitate your musical growth, working with you to reach your goal. Regardless of ...

I'm a real country/blues man. When I started lessons with Kayla, she told me she was classically trained, which made me think she wouldn't be able to sing with that country soul. But the first lesson, she blew me away. She sang some Miranda Lambert, Johnny Cash and Merle Haggard and really knocked my socks off! She helped to better articulate words and gain better breath support. Kayla is laid back and patient. I loved taking lessons with this young lady.

I have taken vocal training lessons with Kayla for two years. She has helped me take my two octave range and turn it into a three octave range. I also have much better breath support, pitch correctness and tone. I highly recommend taking lessons with her!
