About Adam
I have been writing and performing music since he was 15. Along the way I have played or recorded with numerous notable bands including Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees George Clinton and Parliament Funkedic, and members of Bob Dylan's band. In classical music, I have learned music composition under Dan Asia at the University of Arizona and East Indian Classical music from master musician Ali Akbar Khan at the Ali Akbar School of Music. I have been teaching lessons in guitar, vocals, banjo, and harmonica for 15 years. My lessons are always focused on whatever style the student is most inte
rested in, yet still incorporate a dose of music theory and other styles to help inspire well rounded musicians. I can teach to any age, in any genre, as well as help with songwriting, performance techniques, recording skills, and classical composition. Whether you want to learn to play songs from your favorite band, rock out with awesome guitar solos, play beautiful spanish guitar pieces, or write you masterpiece, I can help you realize your musical dreams. My goal is to inspire the next generation of musicians to get the most out of their instrument, and foster a life long love of music that can enrich their lives and the world around them.

*** Lesson Details ***
I am a laid back teacher with a diverse and serious knowledge of music. I truly love music and inspiring new or continuing musicians. I can adapt my lessons to the student so that if you have professional goals I will do my best to challenge and help you to reach them, or if you are a child who is just beginning I will do my best to teach you in a fun and relaxed manner that keeps you excited to come back and learn more the next week. No matter what the age or skill level I take my job very seriously, and try to make the process seriously fun.
If the students is interested in reading standard music notation I teach from the Hal Leonard Guitar Method series, which are the books of choice for countless music instructors. After 3 to 6 months most students have finished at least the first book in the series and can read and play simple songs easily.
If you are interested in reading tablature or chord charts, I have many lesson plans from years of experience that can quickly teach you how to play everything from simple folk songs and popular music to complex Jimi Hendrix solos.
If you are interested in classical guitar, or vocals I start with books of simple spanish guitar etudes and can work with you all the way up to complex advanced works from Segovia and the other masters. In a few months, even beginning students can play beautiful pieces that will impress family and friends.
If you are a banjo student I teach from the Hal Leonard Banjo Method series. I can work with simple clawhammer techniques, or more complex bluegrass methods. In a few months most students can play many simple country and folk songs.
If you are a vocal student I can teach anything from rock/country styles, to showtunes and classical techniques. In a few months I can show how to sing and breath correctly, and help learn how to read music and train your ears to sing in tune.

*** Studio Equipment ***
practice room, amps, and the paper to write down the lessons

*** Travel Equipment ***
I have all the necessary equipment, guitars, banjos, amps, etc. I expect the student to have their own instrument, but I can provide something for the lesson like an amplifier.

*** Specialties ***
I can teach any genre or method. I base the lessons on the students desires and abilities, not on any predetermined plan I may have. I can teach in standard notation, tablature, chord charts, or improvisational methods. I can also teach songwriting, performance/recording techniques, and classical composition.

Adam is entirely unafraid of dishing out criticism when it's due but won't withhold praise either. He'll push you while you're with him but understands that it's ultimately up to the student to get the material. Working with him is a blast provided you come to lessons prepared and put in the effort. What you get out of your sessions with Adam depends on what you put into them. If you don't slack off during the week and leave your ego at the door he'll have you playing better in no time.

Dr. Stephanie is insightful with a gentle guidance and encouraging way about her that is magnetic. Her type of instruction is calming while still challenging to my children. I think what is most remarkable is her ability to pull out of a child what they are longing to show the world while still letting them know that these moments of training and practice are also for their inner growth.

Dr. Stephanie was warm, welcoming, intelligent and clearly incredibly experienced. My daughter can't stop talking about how much she loved the lesson and she just can't wait for her next one!

About Brenton
"Music is the best!" --Frank Zappa

That is the only thing I can claim to know for certain.

My ideals as a teacher are sound control, fun, and community. I teach all of my students how to play their instrument in a manner which they understand and enjoy. I demonstrate how much fun music can be once my student has the facility to create sound freely. And I inspire them to use this gift for bringing people closer together.

Since beginning my musical studies at California State University Northridge, I have been working as a musician in the greater Los Angeles area. Now over a decade
later, I continue to perform and teach - enjoying the whole ride wherever it takes me. While my primary instruments are Contrabass and Electric Bass Guitar, I have technical know how on a wide variety of instruments. Some of these include the violin, guitar, and piano.

I'm also happy to teach students who already have technical facility are interested in learning about things like musicality, melodic phrasing, harmonic analysis, rhythmic accuracy, ear training, reading in various clefs, improvisation, and much more.

Let's jam!

*** Travel Equipment ***
I can bring whatever I need to a lesson, but I expect all of my students to take the initiative to have all necessary equipment for playing. That being said, if a problem ever arises in the procuring of this equipment, I am always happy to help in anyway that I can.

Brenton really took an individual approach and made sure we focused on what i wanted to learn and improve on, while at the same time, reinforcing fundamentals and technique. I couldn't figure out what i was doing wrong that was keeping me from getting better. He completely focused and studied everything from my hand position, hand pressure, and posture, and insured that i understood principles and concepts that must be engaged in order to get better, and made sure he figured out everything i needed to do for me to improve, and gave me exercises and techniques to get there-almost like solving an equation. i am an adult very beginning student with no background in music theory and he made me feel comfortable right away and started teaching at the level where i was so that i stayed motivated. i would definitely recommend Brenton to help you improve your playing regardless of what level you are starting.

About Ray
I grew up in a musical family in Tucson, where my dad was a high school choir teacher for 25 years. I had the privilege to be in his choirs for 2 years! I attended Northern Arizona University studying music education/performance 3 years (music scholarship), Pima College music ed. 1 year. This included 3 hours per semester of private voice. Basically a different language every semester (French, Italian, German). During this time I formed an acoustic folk/rock duo night club act and played around Tucson for several years. Then I moved to L.A. to pursue my dreams. There I played beach clubs in an
other duo. I also was a studio singer and produced and sold a couple of jingles. I have been a staff singer with Arizona Opera since 1992. I have been in 80 + productions/600+ performances. I just signed a contract to be in 3 operas in the 2012 - 2013 season. Also in 1992 I started my own business as a pre-school music specialist and that has been my day job for the last 20 years. I'm known as "Mr. Ray" to tens of thousands of Tucson pre-schoolers and see about 1500 little guys a week!

I have been teaching guitar and voice privately for 35years. I've had students as long as 8 years! Teaching is one of my greatest passions in life. I have a wealth of experience to draw from and would love to help you or your child realize your dreams! Obviously I specialize in kids but have had many adult students also.

I am also a recording engineer with a multi track project studio. I have produced 2 children's CD's: "Mr. Ray Sings the Dinosaur Dance and Other Favorites" and "Mr. Ray Sings Lullabies".

I've been writing songs since the 70's and can help you in many ways in that field!

*** Lesson Details ***
I have a patient style that is infused with energy! My curriculum depends on age and student goals. Acoustic guitar and voice are my specialties. Texts include Hal Leonard Guitar Method Books 1 - 3 and Beginning Classroom Guitar by Philip Hemo as well as strumming patterns and finger picking. I do assign homework. Voice lessons include ear training, vocal exercises, accessing all notes in your range and , of course, working on songs of music styles/artists you like. All students are furnished with a cd recording of the lesson. The goal for most is to perform and I have many opportunities including recitals and X-mas shows. After 3 - 6 months? Progress depends on you!

*** Studio Equipment ***
Lessons in a music room, recording equipment, keyboard, PA system, mic, multi-track recorder, double french doors in glass so parents can see the lessons without being in the same room. Students take home a CD of the lesson.

*** Specialties ***
acoustic guitar, all styles vocal

My husband searched high and low for a voice lesson for our daughter. After reading many reviews online and interviewing a few potential voice teachers, he was convinced that Mr. Ray would be a great fit for our daughter. We instantly signed up for our daughter to work with Mr. Ray for 40 hours.

Mr. Ray has several fantastic qualities as teacher:

1. First and foremost, he is passionate about singing and music. there is nothing more paramount to us than for the love of learning to be fostered in our daughter. and Mr. Ray is perfect for this.

2. Mr. Ray has an incredible amount of experience in the music industry both as a singer/performer himself as well as a teacher and mentor.

3. Mr. Ray makes the singing lessons very fun. Our daughter giggles and laughs during classes while she is making serious progress as a singer.

4. Mr. Ray teaches beyond the classroom by sharing his personal wisdom in life. We were pleasantly surprised that our 7 year old daughter has ongoing conversations with Mr. Ray in career choice and development as well as self esteem. Let's just say Mr. Ray covers some pretty profound topics with kids during their weekly 1 hour sessions!

The list could go on, but why don't you (and your kid) see for yourselves.

About Kate
I believe that a good teacher helps students teach themselves. Most of a student’s learning will be done on his or her own at home or in a practice room, so a teacher must give them the necessary tools to succeed, as well as constant support and encouragement. I graduated from the Eastman School of Music with a Bachelor's in Vocal Performance, and from Penn State with a Master's in Vocal Performance and Pedagogy. I have been teaching all levels of voice, and beginning/intermediate piano for almost ten years. I also have extensive experience working with special needs students. My goal is
to teach healthy, grounded singing, no matter what musical style my students are interested in pursuing. I focus on balanced and centered body alignment, accurate body mapping, an easy breathing technique, and vibrancy/flexibility in sound. If there is unnecessary tension or problems in these areas, this can hold students back from truly enjoying singing.
