Chantilly W.

Beacon, NY

About Chantilly

I’m Chantilly… Hello and welcome to my Takelessons info page!

My philosophy is all about zeroing in on your personal strengths and building up new skills around them. Studying with me will help your technique, boost your confidence, and will be the foundation of a prosperous creative future. It’s my personal goal to make sure you have a great experience!

I have a formal musical education, with a degree in composition from Purchase College, (Regina Spektor also graduated from this program!), 6 years of experience as a solo performer, and worked extensively in recent years on writing s
ongs, and releasing recordings (my producer plays keys for Ingrid Michaelson! )

My most recent highlights include placing my songs in an independent film, as well as the show Dance Moms on Lifetime TV :) See videos below.

I’m also a founding member of NYC group Noise Collective, and am currently running songwriting and performance workshops through them. I work with industry executives from Island Records, Razor and Tie Publishing, the Agency Group Booking, and more. This gives me fresh perspectives on current music, and how to approach a successful career!

(If this is your aim… I’m also just as happy helping people whose sole goal is to learn to sing better in the shower!)

I have been a teacher for 6 years, specializing in one-on-one lessons, loving the thrill of helping students grow to their fullest potential.

I realize that there are a lot of options out there, and am honored to be considered for your needs!

*** Studio Equipment ***
- Extra guitar available.
- For voice, I record our lessons, and send you Mp3's after each lesson as a practice tool.

*** Travel Equipment ***
- I bring my guitar, and expect students to have their own.
- For singing, it would be best if students had a program like Garage Band to record, and practice to the lessons.

Chantilly was a really awesome teacher. Over the weeks I learned so much and gained a lot of control over my voice. Also as someone who never sings in front of anyone she really helped me feel comfortable doing so. If she didn't move away I would still be taking lessons with her. Highly recommend! She's a really sweet person and she is very good at explaining concepts and helping you to understand.

Chantilly is great, very encouraging and approachable, but in a genuine way. Even in a short time I've noticed I can sound better and stronger than I did before. The recordings of our lessons are very helpful for practicing at home and gauging progress over time.

Vito C.

Hopewell Junction, NY

About Vito

Hello!

Music is my passion, and my life. I have grown up surrounded by music since I can remember, from my humble beginnings hanging out with my father in his friend's music store, to managing a music store of my own!

Since I was a young boy, all I ever wanted to do was play the drums, and I have been fortunate to do so for close to two decades. I have been molding young minds in the way of the drum since 2008, as I was on my way to receive my B.A. in Music from Western Connecticut State University.
I teach in a very traditional, well rounded style, catering to what and how the play wo
uld like to learn. We will work on everything from your basic sticking techniques, on up to complex rhythms and drum beats/patterns as they advance. I have a very laid back attitude, and really enjoy passing along my knowledge.

I hope to be able to help you on your musical journey!

David R.

Brewster, NY

About David

Hi my name is David and I love and enjoy teaching guitar lessons to students of all ages and I come to your home for lessons. My goal in life is to enrich people's lives with music. The first thing I do when I meet a student is to interview the student and find out why they want to learn how to play the guitar and what are some of their goals. Then I find out what style of music they would like to learn. I have the student come up with ten songs they would like to learn. I take this information and structure future guitar lessons around the essential elements of these songs. I design each less
on to teach the specific skills required to learn those songs. I create an organized custom guitar lesson workbook for each of my students at no cost to the student or parent. This way, my students have a weekly organized practice routine and they become successful. Having a teaching degree, (B.A. Music - Conservatory of Music - Concentration: Studio Composition / Master's in Education - M.A.T. / Adolescence Education (Grades 5-12) 3.56 GPA).

I create all of the guitar lessons to meet each students individual needs that include lessons on theory, technique, rhythm, chords, scales, riffs, arpeggio's, songs, and exercises etc. I break down songs into easy digestible parts so students can learn a song in a logical and most manageable way. I use a color coded method to teach that I created that help students not only learn and understand scales and chords but also they are able to see visually how scales and chords are created. I currently teach private guitar lessons and have worked for 12 years in our local schools as a teacher with students K through 12. For 2 years, from 2012 to 2014 I taught an after-school enrichment guitar and songwriting class. I created the curriculum and music workbook specifically for 6 and 7-year old children whom I taught at Pequenakonck Elementary School in North Salem, NY. In College I won an award for the most Improved Studio Composition Student at Purchase College. I incorporate lessons that I have learned in the classroom as a teacher to help my guitar students learn. I feel the most important thing for my students to learn about music is to have a lot of fun.

This may just be the best instructor in the history of Instructors!

David has been mentoring our Foster Child and not only am I impressed with his personalized lesson plans, professionalism and overall organization, but more importantly I'm amazed by the connection he's made with my Foster Son.
