Good with children

Miss Gabby has been teaching my daughter piano for a few years, and she does so good with her. My daughter doesn't always have the best attention span, but Miss Gabby does well to redirect her and get her back on track. I absolutely recommend her for beginners and little ones. She has a very gentle and caring personality.

Amanda S. Irwin, PA

The private lesson experience is unique in that it allows for more “customized” instruction that group lessons or rehearsals alone are not able to give. The instructor and student work one on one as a “team” toward the ultimate goal: a better understanding of their instrument, and a higher level of musical development.

In every lesson, we will work to improve technique, theory, listening/music reading skills, among other things. I will assign exercises and/or pieces each week that are meant to challenge, not overwhelm! Sometimes I will assign an exercise that is expressly meant for a particular area in which the student may not be the strongest, in an effort to develop that area. Learning an instrument is a skill that takes time to develop, and it is within the journey where most valuable learning takes place!

Cory P. Pittsburgh, PA

About Cory

I grew up around Atlanta, GA and started playing piano when I was around 7 years old and bass when I was 11. Most of my education has been on the upright bass. I've studied classical bass performance at major music schools on the east coast and in the midwest. I've studied and worked with musicians from many of the great orchestras around the world. I enjoy working with students who are just coming to the bass or piano for the first time and getting them started with music in a rewarding way as well as more advanced students that need finer musical direction or audition coaching. *** Lesson Details *** I try to keep a relaxed environment while still being motivating and inspiring. Great piano teacher

Cory was willing to take on the challenge of teaching my 4 year old daughter piano. She has now been in lessons for 1 year and is doing far better than I had imagined she would be doing at this point. She is already reading music, playing with both hands at the same time, and playing chords. Cory is very patient and kind and my daughter really enjoys taking lessons with him.
