Music is the universal language that, when tapped into, illuminates the joys of life and shows us how to open the doors of opportunity. When we study and play music, we are cultivating our curiosity and wonder of the world and are gaining a confidence to be expressive, creative, entrepreneurial, and playful. When we feel music, we feel love. The study of stringed instruments in particular is one of tremendous depth. The violin plays a vital role in a great number of music traditions across the globe and every time we play, we connect, we celebrate, and we contribute to that vibrating string community. I have been playing for 20 years and teaching private and group lessons for seven and I would love to show you or your child the wonders of playing music. My passion for teaching is ...
I'm a multi-instrumentalist from the Northwest with lots of love for teaching people to groove. I got my bachelors in music from Whitman College with an emphasis in Jazz Performance. I can teach anyone to rock, swing or get unreasonably funky. Lessons can be casual or serious and I'm down to tell you how to get to Carnegie Hall or onto the stage at the local jam. *** Lesson Details *** I like to teach my students what they want to learn! I'm always game for setting up a fun path to being able to play your favorite songs as fast as possible. I don't scold or shame and having a blast is the name of my game. I can teach you to improvise, read music, become a strummer or virtuoso, it's all up to you. *** Studio Equipment *** Lessons in the basement studio, piano, guitars, amps, hand ...
I started learning piano as a child, but it was in high school that I realized I really wanted to pursue playing keyboards, because it allowed me a way to express myself. I was hooked. Later on I attended Mt. Hood Community College, played keyboards and sang in choirs and vocal jazz. After graduating on the President's List with an Associates Degree in Special Studies Music, I directed the college Gospel Ensemble for two years before working full-time at a large local church, where I was a Music Director, Worship Leader, and keyboard player. In addition to vocal and keyboard work, I enjoyed directing large and small choirs and ensembles, band directing, orchestra conducting, and arranging many styles of music. It is exciting to experience what can happen when people work together ...

Hi, I'm Tom V. After an award winning high school jazz band career I went on to earn an MFA in painting from Ohio University. I couldn't stay away from music, and I continued to study traditional, jazz and classical violin and guitar with many fine teachers. I have been a licensed preschool teacher since 2002. I have also been teaching music classes/lessons, on and off, since 1997. Many of my students have been successes in orchestras, bands and contests. I have also won numerous awards in major fiddle contests. I do love to see students enjoy learning as much as I have. I currently play jazz violin and accordion with Pink Martini co-founder Lyndee Mah and her band, as well as with country swing outfit, The Davenport Brothers.
