JingJing W.

Chicago, IL

About JingJing

Hi, I am a multi-international prize winner and a dedicated teacher. A piano performance graduate of Manhattan School of Music and University of Illinois, I have collaborated as soloist with major orchestras in China, USA, Europe and South America for fifteen years.

In the summer of 2006, I made my critically acclaimed European debut at the International Piano Festivals held in Spain and Canary Islands. In 2008, I was selected by famous New York critics David Dubal to perform in his lecture concert series, live broadcast on WQXR. From October of 2008 to July 2009, I won five international
competition awards around globe, which led me to several concert tours in the following years. In August of 2009, I participated in the prestigious George Enescu International Music Festival in Bucharest. In May of 2010, I participated in the Gilmore Keyboard Festival Masterclass in Kalamazoo. That year also marked my recital and concerto debut in Panama and Colombia as well as in Krannert Center of Performing Arts in Illinois. In 2012, I made my solo recital debut at Dame Myra Hess Memorial Concert Series in Chicago. Besides my frequent solo appearances,I have been an active collaborative chamber musician.I have performed a number of chamber music concerts with many instrumentalists around the world, highlighting a tour with a string quartet around the Netherlands in August, 2007, after having received two-week-long coaching with Menahem Pressler and Shumel Ashkenasi.

Along with my performing career, I have been teaching young piano students since I was eighteen. I have experience teaching all age-group in masterclasses and private lessons.

*** Lesson Details ***
I love teaching all age-group piano students! I find teaching is rewarding when a student is making progress, learning effectively and having fun with music. My teaching style and lesson focus will be unique for each individual person, and I'm very flexible in adapting to each student's needs and personality. My specialty is to discover and make each student find their own technique and sound on piano.

I am a friendly, easy-going and patient teacher, but I do have expectations. My ultimate goal is to help each student cultivate spiritual and physical well-being, along with the ability to recognize and develop personal and musical strengths, and to recognize and address respective weaknesses.

*** Studio Equipment ***
A 5'7 Steinway Piano in Studio.

*** Travel Equipment ***
In-home lessons available too.

Magic piano teacher

I have known Jingjing personally through his performances for five years and recently my 6-year old son started having lessons with him. At first, my son wasn't really be able to sit tight for 10 minutes but after a few lessons, he could concentrate for 25-30 minutes. Jingjing's lessons are magical! And my son enjoys the lessons now. He already played a few folk songs and was encouraged to compose his own music at the piano. I really appreciate Jingjing's effort!

Great mentor!

I've worked with JINGJING WANG for 3 years and he's been always reliable, patient and creative. He taught me many different ways to practice and it was such an incredible experience. Now I am a piano teacher myself and I will keep learning from him.

Kate P.

Chicago, IL

About Kate

Growing up, I participated in every musical activity I could find: from choir to handbells, concert bands to jazz bands, and marching bands to rock bands. I love many genres of music, but I decided to focus on classical clarinet performance in college. I graduated from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign in 2007 with a B.M. in Clarinet Performance. I also continued studying bass guitar and piano at UIUC.

While still in high school, I began teaching private clarinet lessons to younger students. Teaching helped me become a better player and leader. In college, I ran woodwind sectiona
ls at an Urbana middle school. In 2007, I started teaching general music, piano, and violin in Chicago Public Schools.

I appreciate the freedom private lessons offer me to tailor each lesson to the individual student. There are many ways of learning, and at least as many ways of teaching. My goal as a teacher is to pass on lessons of patience, creativity, appreciation, confidence and dedication to my students. I hope my students will apply these lessons to their musical studies and throughout all areas of their lives.

Music has been an incredibly powerful force in my life, and it is my passion to share that power through instruction and performance.

***Lesson Details ***

I want my students to leave their lessons with skills and confidence that will help them in all areas of life. It is important to me that I give my students the ability to keep learning outside of our lessons. I believe that music is an art form that can be enjoyed by all!

Working with beginners is my specialty. I understand that each student learns differently, and finding the right method for my students is very important to me. The fundamentals learned in the first year of piano benefit any new musician, and can be applied to other instrumental studies.

Piano and clarinet lessons begin with an assessment of ability and setting of goals. I like to use the Faber and Faber piano series with most of my piano students. All lessons are a combination of theory, instrumental/performance technique, and ear training.

Margo L.

Chicago, IL

About Margo

Are you ready to fall in love with your voice? Do you want to have fun while doing so? If your voice isn’t becoming to you, YOU should be coming to ME! No bells, no whistles, just GUARANTEED RESULTS.

I have been the private vocal coach for multiple contestants on American Idol, America's Got Talent, The Voice and several other vocal competitions spanning over 10 countries. I also train business owners, salespeople and those who are simply terrified to present themselves in the art of public speaking.

This is NOT your average coaching session! This is for those who are ready to finally
overcome the world’s #1 fear: PUBLIC PERFORMANCE.
Get ready to present yourself, business, product or service with confidence, personality and effectiveness.

My lighthearted and humorous approach to seemingly stressful situations, especially in the public performance sector, have made me a highly sought-after coach for one-on-one and group training.

My approach is designed to train and condition the entire body as an instrument, not just the oral portion of the voice. My 5-octave vocal range makes allows me to easily instruct my students in developing their whistle register. I have been trained in (and teach) Classical, Appoggio, jazz/improv, Seth Riggs' speech-level singing and other methodologies of singing and speaking.

My method of assessing and meeting the needs of each student enables me to assist them in bringing out the very best in their capabilities. If you desire quality, effectiveness and noticeable improvement in your singing, writing, public speaking or overall performance, I am the coach for you!
Whether you are a beginner or professional, I make sure that you are comfortable and have a great time while learning. I am flexible with your needs so feel free to let me know what you want from your lessons and we can work towards your goal to your satisfaction.

Not only am I a coach, I’m a professional singer and public speaker, so I utilize and perfect my own techniques on a regular basis. I have the privilege of being a classically-trained pianist and vocalist, having studied at Sherwood Conservatory of Music, Vandercook College of Music, The Second City, University of Chicago, ETA Performing Arts Center and many other fine institutions.

Children love working with me because I make learning fun and they have a high retention rate of the techniques that I teach them. I am easygoing, funny and offer a minimalist, casual and relaxed environment for everyone. My adult students have a blast because our lessons feel more like a friendly visit with lighthearted humor.
