I want you to explore what it's like to experience the unbelievable amount of satisfaction you can have by allowing yourself to study acting. I teach from a method base and will work on monologues and audition materials, collaborating with you on what it is you need to understand how we go about doing this thing called acting. One thing you must know about me, I am really nice. I won't crush your dreams. I will, however, make sure you attain them. I can come to you or you can meet me where I teach. I am in SF and Los Angeles. I successfully work virtually with many people. If you want to act, we can make it happen.

About Kathryn

My students range from beginners to those working professionally on an ongoing basis in the Industry. I work with clients who are heads of businesses, lawyers and on air announcers, as well as many other individuals. My students have booked various roles in shows in the Hulu hit Chance, HBO's, Thirteen Reasons Why, Looking, Woody Allen's
, Blue Jasmine, Touching Home, Generations, productions including Theatreworks, Pride and Prejudice, Berkeley Repertory's, Hand to God, and there are many more in each of these categories and countless commercials. (Nationals and Regionals) and have landed agents. Many have joined SAGAFTRA and Actors Equity or their way to becoming part of our performers unions. I am also fortunate to work with screenwriters.
My base technique is Method Acting. I am open to other techniques and studied at HB Studio in NYC.
When you study acting / singing performance w/ me you'll also learn about the BUSINESS OF SHOW BUSINESS.
We will work on technique, audition technique, monologues, scene work, as well study all aspects of acting and singing performance in order to prepare you for where you want to be as an artist.
Actors and Singers
Auditions!!
They are definitely the most difficult and nerve wracking part of being an actor or singer, right? Booking work means your audition has to be as good as opening night.
Auditioning is about preparation and preparation takes consistent support. Look, showbiz is not a business about being alone. Artists thrive when working together. We are a collaborative bunch and collaborating to make sure you're ready and organized for your auditions makes sense.
Stop trying to muscle through this necessary step alone. No one who works consistently does that! They ask for help. ASK FOR HELP!!
Solidify your acting choices so you don't have to worry about them the day before your audition. Know your prep so you can internally drop into it when the casting director says, "Whenever you're ready."
Have your music material and performance choices prepared ahead of time.
BE AHEAD OF SCHEDULE.
Work with me when your agent sends you your sides so you show up READY. Know your lines. It's OK if your struggling with memorization.
Let's figure out How YOU memorize.
Let me coach you for online audition submissions.
If we are working virtually I will coach while you are taping yourself to submit your online audition. It works!
Let me collaborate with on script analysis in order for you to you understand your material before you audition.
Take your work seriously so you bring your most intelligent and inspiring work to the audition rooms.
You'll be bringing the agents, casting directors, directors, producers and writers the inspiration they crave regarding their beloved projects. Do that and you're gonna book.
I know you can work and I can't wait to make it happen with you.

Kathryn is an amazing teacher! I've been working with her for nearly a year now. At first I was hesitant doing classes online, but I don't regret taking the leap. I've definitely improved my acting skills in the months we've been working together; she gives great feedback and really cares about her students, not ONLY in the way of their acting skills. I highly recommend her to anyone who wants to get into acting. I started out knowing nothing and I can say 100% that what I know now is largely in part of Kathryn!

I always try and surround myself with people who give me confidence and make me better. Kathryn does both of those. She doesn't view you as a dollar sign but as an artist. She's the coach that sends you "Happy Birthday" and "Get Well Soon" texts because she genuinely cares.

I've been with her for over a year already and have no plans of stopping. Thank you so much, Kathryn. :)

Dan is a fantastic teacher. If you are looking for singing lessons you'll be hard pressed to find a better teacher.

When we started I thought that some people just can't sing and that I was one of those people. Not only did I not know how to sing, I had no idea how to *learn* to sing. Dan was super patient and I felt like he figured how I needed to learn just as much as what I needed to learn.

Singing is a life long journey, and I still have a long way to go, but the difference in my confidence and ability since working with Dan is like night and day. I recommend Dan highly.

All ages. I have taught drama/musical theatre in groups as well as coached individuals.

About Molly
I have been teaching for 15 years: kids, teens-even beginner vocalists in their seventies! Rockers, an "Idol" finalist, church musicians, lapsed opera singers, preschoolers. ...these are just a few of singers I have worked with, in person, in the classroom, and ONLINE (I just love teaching singers all over the country and the world!) .

What you get in voice lessons with me: laughter as you learn! I have learned solid classical vocal technique from the very best . I have trained with respected opera singers who have performed with companies such as Lyric Opera of Chicago, as well as leaders in vocal pedagogy. I believe everyone deserves the same useful tools- no matter what it is you like to sing!

I am patient and customize each and every lesson. Need more time on ear training? No problem . How about beginning music theory? I can
help with that, too. Are you feeling more confident, and want to focus more on song polishing and getting into the heart of your songs? Let's do it! Confidence an issue? I am a pro with very shy people. I'll get you out of your shell, relaxed, and having fun right away so we can free that voice of yours! I have worked with many singers who have been diagnosed with anxiety: you're in good hands and you can trust me with your voice.

I am also a drama teacher who has worked with groups as well as individuals. Currently, I am the drama instructor at a Montessori School. I love working with beginning acting students! I'll assist with monologue prep, improvisation, voice for the stage, body awareness, and more. I love being on stage and want you to see how fun it is to jump in and let go,too!

I am a constant student in the world of theatre. I am currently taking many courses with the Drama Teacher Academy, and just received a certificate for monologue work ! Currently studying more improv and musical theatre techniques. I want my students to have as many skills as possible, no matter where their love for theatre or music takes them.

If you're interested in beginner ear training or music theory, I'd love to help you with that as well. I present it in a no-nonsense and fun manner! I'll provide you with simple worksheets to increase your confidence in learning the language of music, as well as run you through increasingly challenging patterns and sight reading for the ear training. Don't be afraid: I make it easy and customize it all. I used to be scared of theory,too- so I know what works!

I have been singing for over 20 years. Performances with the Lira Ensemble and Opera on Tap Chicago, and in master classes with international opera stars Alan Held and Lorna Haywood. Coaching with Collaborative Works Chicago and Rossini Opera Festival. Additional studies in Rock Vocals, Voice Care, Improvisational Comedy, Holistic Voice, Acting, Foreign languages, Dalcroze, Speaking Voice for Singers, , Commercial Vocal Styles/Belting with Lisa Popeil, teacher mentoring workshop with Maestro David Jones. Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance. Additional workshops in Vocal Pedagogy with David Sabella-Mills, Jeannie LoVetri. Dr. Karen Prokop, Melissa Cross (the queen of healthy scream technique!), Sheri Sanders (musical theatre auditioning), and Chicago Cabaret Professionals.

Certified CoreSinging Instructor- one of only a few in the U.S. trained by Meribeth Dayme, PhD, respected clinician and authority in vocal pedagogy and author of "The Singing Book".

My students do a variety of great things! One was a top 12 "American Idol" finalist. Current students perform in musicals, top rated choirs, and professional rock , jazz, and blues bands. Many have won awards for their singing at competitions such as NATS. Students of mine have also been accepted to prestigious performing arts high schools for both drama and music, as well as undergraduate music programs.

I think if you can speak, you can sing. Everyone can and should sing! Don't let anything hold you back. I am a people person that is very passionate about music and singing, and want to be the teacher you'll trust with your voice. Come laugh and learn with me!

Molly is incredible. She has amazing energy and style. Two of my girls are taking lessons with her and they vary in age and personalities - Molly's style is incredible to keep my older daughter learning and advancing, while also being able to connect instantly with my younger daughter, who is extremely shy. In only 2 lessons, both of my girls learned so much and are having fun in the process. We are thrilled we found Molly and so excited to keep the lessons going. She has so much experience and talent but more importantly, she has a gift for translating that talent and energy into customized lessons that engage the kids, meet them where they are, and keep them excited to learn more. We love Molly!

Private acting lessons will be primarily focused on coaching audition materials and techniques. Materials include monologues, sides, scenes from plays, etc. Techniques include voice clarity and projection, enunciation, facial expression, emotion, character development, and more.

About Mia
I am a professional singer and actress with opera and musical theater credits. Singing is my passion! I love to sing, and I LOVE to teach others to sing! I like to make students feel comfortable and at ease in lessons, and you will find that I am very warm and friendly!

Every student is unique, with their own strengths, their own areas for improvement, and their own preference for certain styles of singing. I can help you find what style makes your heart sing!

I have a broad range of credits, including the Broadway National Tour of Fiddler On The Roof with Theodore Bikel (Tzeitel understudy), and Off-Broadway in Fiorello (Marie) and The Rose Ta
ttoo (Flora). Mia is an absolutely outstanding teacher. I came in for my first lesson horrified to sing, not knowing anything about performing. And in just a few months of learning with Mia I was cast in my first show. Fast forward a few more months and I have been accepted to the college of my choice in their Musical Theater program. In just a year she has helped me achieve my goals that seemed so out of this world to me in the beginning but now are a reality. She is not only amazing at the technical stuff, but she is so genuinely invested in helping you be the best that you can be. She changed my life and I'm so grateful to her.

I have been in this profession for 35 years. I have taught on many levels and for different ages including workshops for high school students and university level conservatory programs.

I believe that the theatre is an arena where we learn about who we are. Acting is being present in the moment and we learn how to live our lives more fully through this study. Each actor has his own unique voice and relationship to the material. It is my job to help each student find their own path.

I took a five-session Beginning Voice Acting class with Corliss in a professional recording studio. The critiques she gave me after every recording I made helped me to speak more clearly, and to increase the energy I was able to put into my recorded presentations. Without the critiques of my recordings, I would not have been able to improve my speaking ability. During the class, she made sure everyone in the class was made to feel welcome, and important. When I take the next level of the Voice Acting class series, I will be looking forward her critiques of my recorded presentations.

I recently took lessons with Corliss and couldn’t have been happier! From the minute I walked in the door for the first lesson, Corliss was energetic and enthusiastic. I found her instruction relative to breathing techniques, warm up exercises and copy interpretation extremely valuable in helping me to relax and “think outside of the box,” which enabled me to think more creatively while also helping to identify my own areas of strength and those requiring further development. Corliss provided honest and supportive feedback, all within a fun environment that had me looking forward to the next lesson. I am truly looking forward to taking additional lessons with Corliss!

I’ve benefited immensely from the relaxation and breathing techniques she’s taught me. She’s educated me on interpreting copy in ways that I wouldn’t have had the ability to come up with on my own. Her lessons have boosted my self-confidence by providing the tools and encouragement required to pursue a career as a voice actor. Corliss has truly been an inspiration!

Carolyn is an amazing teacher! As a beginning singer, she knows how to tailor lessons exactly to my needs. She does a spectacular job at accommodating the rock music style of singing I use in my song writing, recording, and performances, and is always clear about what's working for me and what I can improve, and how.

Furthermore, she has a strong song-writing and production background and has acted as a producer of sorts in the best way possible, challenging me to work outside of my comfort zone in order to help me package the music I've written into the best songs they could ever be.

She really knows what she is doing, is extremely personable, and I highly recommend her for anything music-related!

I provide a positive and fun hands on environment that allows for nothing but the growth and success for my students.

For private consultation sessions I start at the beginning. We begin by assessing your "type", what type of work you see yourself doing, and how you want to progress in your acting. I then suggest work for my students to familiarize theirselves with ranging from books to television and plays, so that they feel immersed in the world they desire to enter.

For audition prep I work to make sure my students feel prepared and excited for their audition pieces so that they have the confidence to walk into the room and book the role!

For audition prep, I coach:
-Monologues
-Scene Work
-Theater -from the original audition to creating the role
-Self-tape
-Film and TV-where we go over the nuances and subtly of film
