About Marc

I've been playing music since I was 14 years old. I studied classical guitar at State University in Buffalo, NY. and also studied guitar at the Berklee College of Music in Boston. I appreciate Marc’s knowledge, professionalism, and teaching methods. I also appreciate his practice of social distancing and mask wearing. He was thorough, good-humored, and patient during my lesson.

He is very good with me. I'm not a very good student. I have bad habits and I'm overly sensitive to criticism, yet he has not made me feel bad at all about my playing if you want to call it that. I also have a short attention span and can't read music fluently. But his patience is much appreciated, and each week get a little better at it all. I recommend him to those trying their best to sound a little better.

It was really good information and I had a lot of fun.

As a Casting Associate, theatre instructor, and former actor, I've worked with children in musical theatre, commercials, and film/TV. My favorite part about coaching children is their ability to embrace the funny, silly, most creative parts of who they are!

I'm excited to help your child prepare for a musical theatre audition, create a self-tape for a commercial or film/TV role, put together a reel, or create a book of songs, scenes and monologues that they love to perform. As an instructor, I lead with kindness, empathy and warmth; I believe that if a student comes to lessons excited to learn and explore, they will get SO much more out of our time together.

For working child actors, we can explore material at a deeper level and really help prepare your child to succeed in a professional setting. Since so much of our industry has shifted online, we can work to create a dance, voice and acting reel, coach audition sides, and discuss marketing strategy.

About Fiona

I'm a Casting Associate with a background as a working Actors Equity Association actor. I graduated with a BFA in Musical Theatre from Montclair State University and have extensive training in voice, acting and dance. I've spent the past ten years performing on stages in NYC and across the United St

For insightful feedback, I always connect with Fiona. Her years of experience as a child performer who went through the rigorous application process for post-secondary education, followed by her own inspiring career as a performer, and now as someone who sits on many audition panels, she offers an informed perspective that is useful for performers of any level. The love she has for musical theatre radiates through all of her work and she brings an incredible generosity to her teaching. She is someone you can count on!!

Fiona is an exceptional teacher! She has worked with some of my younger students and not only has the knowledge of the art, but the patience and kindness to communicate it in an engaging manner. I highly recommend any class she is offering.
Samuel
While only in her 20s, Fiona is already a seasoned entertainment professional. Her career has ranged from teaching, to performing, to now sitting on the other side of the table as a casting associate, Fiona has a wide range of industry knowledge. Her passion for art gives her a keen eye to zero in on even the smallest of details. She’s helped me prep for theatre, film, television, and commercial auditions. Fiona’s direct but kind approach allowed me to feel so comfortable in the studio so I could easily discover knew choices. I can’t recommend her enough!

Studying is serious business. We will write essays. We will analyze passages. We will laugh in the face of all that is boring about standardized tests.

Ultimately, my paradigm as a teacher will be to make myself progressively unnecessary.

About Simeon

The most important attributes of any teacher are empathy and patience. I currently attend Harvard University and work as a professional writer and tutor. I've lived all over the United States, although I grew up in Scotland of all places. My scores on the SAT and ACT were perfect (1600 and 36 res

Words cannot express how awesome Simeon is....but here is an attempt. As parents, my wife and I cannot say enough great things about Simeon. Our child was preparing for his second attempt at the SAT's. Our child has a 4.0 GPA but did not do as well as he would have liked on the SAT's his first time. Our son was hesitant at first to work with a tutor since he thought he could prepare on his own and improve his score but as parents, we decided he needed outside help. That's when we found Simeon. Our son not only increased his SAT scores by almost 100 points in a very short window, but he extremely enjoyed his time with Simeon. Now that he and Simeon no longer meet on a weekly basis our son misses his time with Simeon. Simeon is extremely intelligent and has a way of explaining the concepts in a manner that anyone can understand. Simeon truly cares about the students he works with. We have another child entering high school next year and you better believe if he needs any tutoring Simeon will be getting a call.

Very intellectual and patient ... Cares and wanted to help .

Simeon has been an absolutely invaluable resource for my SAT prep. His encouragement is appropriately supplemented by challenging material and (appropriately) challenging expectations. He manages to make studying for the SAT fun rather than a laborious task and I could not recommend him more.

"Excellent lesson. Only 30 minutes but by the end I was playing simple improvisations (on the piano) over a blues-pattern bass. I didn't believe I had it in me ("improvisation") but he definitely brought it out! He accompanied me on his guitar and we alternated playing the melody\bass on the piano\guitar several times. Quite a trip and I enjoyed it. Looking forward to my next lesson."

"I took guitar lessons from Dan for many years. He helped me establish great fundamental techniques and made lessons fun. He would always ask what I wanted to learn about and made it a very personalized experience. Dan is the main reason I stuck with the instrument. I had taken guitar lessons prior but the instructor was dry and uninspired, switching to Dan was the best decision I could have made."

"I really enjoy taking lessons with Ryan and without equivocation consider him to be one of the best instructors I've had the privilege of working with. I am in my 40's and have taken many music lessons throughout the course of my life (piano, organ, guitar, sax, etc.). Being a musician our minds approach things in a very creative manner which can make learning new material challenging. Although we are all seeking the same end, different approaches need to be utilized to achieve that goal. Its clear after working with Ryan that he is very aware of these hurdles students face, most likely because he's experienced the same issues himself as a student and as a teaching professional. He clearly sets himself apart from other teachers by not forcing the same cookie-cutter approach on his students. Although we all need to understand, learn and apply fundamentals, which can be very mundane, Ryan has developed a very unique and creative approach that presents these ideas in a less cumbersome manner. An approach that at least to me seems easier to grasp and further put into practice. Ryan also understands we want to take what we learn and be able to apply it in a practical setting quickly. Let's face it...we want to play guitar and make music, not sound mechanical by playing scales. Ryan has developed a lesson plan that accomplishes all of these goals and does so in a very enjoyably, fun and rewarding way. Ryan has opened up a world to me that I never thought I would enjoy based on past lesson experiences. I am very thankful to have him as my instructor. He has totally blown away my privious conceptions of what a guitar instructor is and what they need to be to pass on that knowledge capital to their students."

"AMAZING!!!

Axel is an absolutely wonderful instructor. He has a wealth of knowledge to offer including classical training techniques, how to preserve one's singing voice, and how to maximize on your personal style. He is disciplined but also unafraid to allow you to take risks. Axel stresses artistic freedom and performance power. My vocal range as well as my breathing improved under his instruction. Most importantly, Axel is willing to go the extra mile for his students. He is very supportive and puts in an extraordinary amount of time and effort in order to help his students succeed. I highly recommend him!"

5 Hard Songs to Sing - and the Exercises to Master Them

Ask any experienced vocalist for a list of what they consider to be hard songs to sing, and they can probably provide you with five or six examples without much thought.  However, there are as many examples as there are different voices, and every individual singer will have individual vocal hurdles to overcome with their repertoire. On the other hand, it is possible to identify a few examples across a few genres where a majority will agree that, yes, those are hard songs to sing. Here are fiv …
