My son is a BEGINNER beginner. Rodrigo is a very nice guy and seems to know his stuff very well. I would give him 5 stars but I don't think he realized that my son needed the basic, basic 1st lesson (i.e. how to hold the instrument). We've only attended one session so this is fully based on that one lesson. I'm sure he'll adjust his teaching from here on out.

Mr. Rodrigo is a professional, respectful and super patient instructor. I could not made a better choice. I am looking forward to my next class @

I grew up in North Carolina, around bluegrass and Old Time music. I started playing mandolin as a teen and studied Irish mandolin in College for 4 years. I play bluegrass/Old Time and Irish mandolin and am comfortable teaching both. I also play pop style mandolin. I teach basic music theory with mandolin lessons, also fingering techniques, tunings, chords, and styles. I love to teach mandolin students tunes, so they can understand how mandolin works when played alone or with others. I love folk music, and I would love to share that love with students.

About Connor

I'm a film composer by trade, but I love teaching as well. I love sharing my passion for music with others. I have a BM from Appalachian State University in piano performance and music theory/composition. I also have an MFA in music composition for the screen from Columbia College Chicago. I st

"Lesson 1 was Great! Ryan assessed my skills first and reviewed the foundation. He zoned in on details that I need to be mindful of when playing. He gave me homework to work on which is good. I took notes because I value his guidance and suggestions. In conclusion, Ryan is a patient and knowledgable teacher and you should take lessons with him because it is fun to learn more and hear the difference after you play it!"

"Andrew really understands the mandolin keyboard and he conveyed the many ways to shape a chord to achieve a nice sound and the variety in playing that could be introduced by altering chord structures/ positions. He stressed improvisational playing around a key signature, the blues or the pentatonic scales. He stressed development of fingering and using them all in exercises to develop strength and speed. he was very responsive to questions and seemed genuinely pleased when we "got" the lesson. It wasn't just a boring reitieration of a practice lead sheet."
