*** Lesson Details ***
I strongly believe that, if every child would be provided with an ideal environment, would gain extraordinary ability. There are no exceptions. No one can tell how able man is by the nature. What is known is the ability that is spoiled or developed. It cannot be denied that most children speak their native languages beautifully by learning about 3000-4000 words by age 5 or 6. Nothing can clearer demonstrate of the original power of the human mind. Through the years of studying and teaching music I realized that this is the most important concept for developing each kid's talent, to increase his or her ability to the maximum. Therefore I am combining the great methods of teaching violin. The Suzuki method and the Russian school method. Suzuki method helps at the earliest stage of playing an instrument and I am using later Russian school method for more advanced period of studying.

Tigran is a skillful, kind, patient and honest teacher. I’m a beginning adult learner and have been progressing very quickly with his help. Tigran’s teaching is structured and organized while keeping the lessons challenging and interesting enough to want to keep going. I value his time and knowledge. I also intend to continue learning the violin from Tigran for the long term. HIGHLY recommend!

Thank you so much for your interest in taking lessons with me! I look forward to working with you/your student to increase your understanding, appreciation, and love for music.

A typical lesson will consist of working on scales, etudes, and an assigned solo piece. Any additional time left in the lesson can be used to work on audition prep, chamber music, orchestra music, a “fun” piece that the student chooses, etc. Students will receive a Google Doc containing their lesson notes and assignments immediately after the lesson. I also provide my students with supplemental video recordings to provide additional instruction on top of their weekly lessons.

Recommended Lesson Times:
Beginner: 30 minutes
Beginner-Intermediate: 45 minutes
Intermediate-Advanced: 60 minutes

Abigail is the best! My daughter has been taking viola lessons from Abigail for over a year. Abigail is always well prepared for her lessons - she selects appropriate music tailored to her student's skill levels, she gives clear instructions and detailed notes, she is flexible when it comes to schedule conflicts and most important of them all, she is the reason my daughter loves her viola lessons! With Abigail, music lesson is not toil, but refreshing amusement!

I started my lessons with Ms. Abigail in 2018 when I was 14, up until 2020 when we started to have online lessons. She helped me pass my Level 5 CM (certificate of merit) test, and then jump from Level 5 to Level 7 in less than a year. Overall a very encouraging and knowledgeable teacher :).

Any technical issue or musical question you have, chances are, I've dealt with it before! I've been lucky to have patient and supportive teachers throughout my studies, and I would love to return the favor and help the next generation of players!

"My 12 year-old daugher has been practicing viola with Jill for 7 months now. From day 1, I have been impressed by Jill's teaching style that is rigorous, but also flexible and supportive. In just a few lessons, my daughter's music playing deepened. The most important to me was to see and hear my daughter starts to breath, feel and enjoy her music. I believe that now my daughter is not playing for me but more for herself. I am extremely thankful to Jill and recommend her highly as a violin and viola instructor. I believe her instruction will have a lifelong impact on my daughter. On top of things, my daughter and I enjoy our time during her lessons very much."

"If I could write anything to hope that you choose Kristen to teach you, imagine it here: _______. That said. She is Amazing, Fantastic, Patient, Fun, Understand, did I say Patient!? I am a 28 year old man that is learning Viola as his "2nd" real instrument. I play piano well, and "campfire" guitar. Kristen is teaching me to read Alto clef and play the Viola. She is teaching at MY pace and not complaining when I come in without having the most practice time accomplished throughout the prior week. She has a flexible schedule and is available for communication (email and phone) between lessons (I've rescheduled many times because my work hours are not constant). She's Great! I hope you let her teach you! Thank you for reading."
