So you want to play an instrument? Well I have taught for over 40 years and have developed special programs for you on piano, guitar, bass, voice and other instruments for you to learn. From easy beginner to the most advanced, I will help you to learn the songs you love! Your goals are my goals.
I have studied with some of the most famous teachers in the world, including Charlie Parker's pianist Walter Bishop Jr. and Dizzy Gillespie's musical director Mike Longo, among many others.
I also have the experience of over 400 gigs a year to bring to your lesson. I have performed on piano, guitar and bass and voca

I focus on sight-reading, ear training (like jamming and playing blues) and theory. You get to choose the areas you would like to learn.
Once we have established the basics including melody and chords, we will pick songs you want to learn to play with your friends or just by yourself. We can use music books or go on YouTube to learn your songs.

Cory, is the Master Yoda of teaching music. That is truly evident in his patience, and honest desire to see you learn. Whether a beginner or an advanced musician like myself, Cory is exactly what you would hope to find in a great teacher. He is excellent in his skill and mastery of the art of music. That includes both his skill as a player, and in the science of music theory & harmony, When u see him play Piano, you will know instantly that he is a great master. Amazingly, he is also an awesome Guitarist & Bass Player. He has over 30 years of experience gigging on all 3, so there's no questioning his qualification to teach on all instruments. His seriousness as a true musician, and connoisseur of all forms of music & songwriting are especially beneficial to you. If you apply yourself, you will no doubt achieve your set goals, whatever they may be. Cory could be teaching at Juilliard or Berklee College of Music if he wanted to. That is not a joke. I went to Berklee, and so I am qualified to make that assertion. I learned a great deal studying with Cory, and that has translated into a priceless benefit for my own work.

About Azuri
Learning is one of my main pursuits. My name is Azuri and I have studied music for over a decade and have my degree in guitar performance from musicians institute. I've had the gift of studying many artistic crafts and spend my time today trying to further my own study, while sharing what I've learned with my students.

Art is one of the most important tools we have as a culture and contains in it a shared history, tradition and the keys to future ones. Whether it be through the primal qualities of music or the impulses of dance, the records of drawing or descriptions of writing, these are the tools for our expression. I have had the great fortune to study, in many different settings, a small piece of these traditions and sharing them is paramount in respect to receiving them. I love sharing knowledge and I hope to elevate yours as a st
udent.

Teaching Philosophy -

My teaching philosophy is built on well rounded communication, explanation and examples. So, that a student can truly understand and learn a topic, surrounded in a very humorous, light and supportive environment.
Along with being provided good information, a student learns better and feels more motivated to learn when there is a balance of positive support and confidence building accompanied by constructive criticism and examples/information that can help a student assess what ever walls they may be meeting in their musical growth.

I understand that all students/artists have different goals they wish to achieve. So it is very important to me to accommodate each individuals needs and wants to help them grow in the fields they wish too; However, In that I have played music for a long time, I understand there are certain things that a student may not have been exposed to yet; It is important that while focusing on a students artistic goals they respect and are open to the suggestion and guidance of their teacher.

I truly believe music has an amazing influence on the world and has the ability to change peoples way of thinking. Therefore, I try and keep an open awareness to all music, so that I can understand all different musical languages utilized to communicate to people, and I don't believe I will ever know them all. I hold it to attention to influence my students somewhat similarly so that they can shape the landscape of how we communicate musically in the future.

I also try and be very patient with my students. Knowing that when I feel rushed, it makes information more difficult to comprehend, remember and allocate. I love watching the gears run in my students head, so I try and provide information that pushes a student but is within their abilities.

HUMOR is very important. I like to break people out of their shell by telling a joke and hopefully getting one back, so they feel more comfortable and free. One of a Artists worst enemies are nerves. Keeping things light-hearted and maybe even a little small talk can be very helpful to a students development and growth on a topic. After all, Art is meant to be fun and we should enjoy every moment of it, in fact we should enjoy every moment in life period.

I understand music requires focus and discipline and I have certain expectation of a student to understand that and practice. You can't buy chops, you can't buy music theory etc. you can get help but eventually your the one who must understand it and play it.

I am here to help you. Based on what I know and what I have extensively studied, I will do all that I can to help you achieve your musical goals. I am here to answer your questions and help you grow. I love teaching because I love sharing knowledge; As long as your seek it, it is here for you. Otherwise, I'd still love to hear some jokes.

*** Lesson Details ***
I'm very disciplined but am also very light hearted. It's important for me to assess things seriously, so that one can understand a topic or piece of information.

I generate my lessons based on the individuals needs and therefore draw from various curriculums, sources and examples, such as : MI curriculum for ear training, Theory, Single string Technique, Reading, Rhythm guitar, Ted Greenes Chord Chemistry, Berklee Guitar Method, as well as The Real Book, other artist books(Eric Clapton, etc.) The Guitar Players Hand Book, Bach pieces and self developed curriculums, relative to the topic at hand and students personal goals, amongst many others.

-Beginning students within three months of consistent lessons should have the ability to solo and playing chords to songs that they are interested in and songs provided in the lesson along with a basic understanding of the major scale and its relationship to all of the diatonic music.

-intermediate students should have an elevated understanding of scale and chord patters along with the theory that explains modal relationships and use of these concepts.

-Advanced students should learn all of diatonic scale shapes and modes assuming they don't already know them in which case their specifically situation will be assessed

-Professional students I expect to have specific questions therefore where they grow should be largely subjective.

Overall, in a short amount of time on a scale of 1 - 10 I expect to in three months at-least elevate a students musical abilities one full point if not more.

About Taryn
A graduate of Berklee College of Music, I have been writing songs since I learned to sing.
At a young age I began to play piano and violin, training in both the classical and pop genres.
I have been teaching piano lessons since I was 15 years old, when my own teacher had taken on more students than she could handle. Over the years, I have developed a passion and dedication for teaching music. I love to watch my students grow, and am elated to see the pleasure it brings to their own lives. Music is truly the universal language, and everyone should learn to speak it, in whatever form they desire. I am adept at finding my students weaknesses, and making it their strengths.
After graduating college, I relocated to Brooklyn, where I opened my own private music studio, "Taryn's Melodies." I formed my own band, and played violin f
or The Anthony Mulcahy Band, where we opened for acts such as Glen Hansard and Mark Geary. In 2012, I was a featured artist at the Gealach Gorm Songwriter Festival in Kill, Ireland. I began working for Forbes Music Company in NY as a piano, violin, guitar, and vocal instructor. My debut album, "Too Happy For Love", released in February 2012, was acclaimed for "exhibiting a diverse and unique musical background, as well as a natural grasp of language and storytelling."

“I have been an educator and administrator for quite sometime, and am aware of the qualities that separate mediocre from good, and good from great. Taryn is unquestionably great. I am constantly evaluating teaching talent in private instruction, group instruction, and in public/ private school classrooms. It is not often that I find a teacher with Taryn’s ability, passion, personality, and commitment.”

-Forbes Music Company, NY

My philosophy is that every lesson should be personalized to what the student's goals are. Music affects each of us differently, and therefore should be taught uniquely to that individual. Whether you want to become the next Billy Joel or Mozart, I can get you playing the tunes that you love in no time! I think it's important that you still get the same fundamentals and theory no matter what genre you're interested in, so that one day you can write your own tunes! I take particular care to make sure you make it through blocks of weaknesses, and get you back on track to reach your practice goals. It's all about making you the musician you've always wanted to be!

I am a classically trained musician with extensive experience in the pop/rock/contemporary genres, as well as jazz and folk music. I am a singer/songwriter, and love to encourage the students to express themselves through music.

Nothing is quite as rewarding as writing your own material, however, it's easy to feel stuck with an idea if you don't know how to fully develop it. I will help you take that one lick/chord change/vocal melody you've been working on and turn it into a fully fleshed out song. We'll take the time to learn the individual roles and functions of certain song sections, and pretty soon you'll be writing your best material with much more focus and confidence!

About Jonah
If you're going to hire a guitar teacher, your lessons should be something you look forward to every week. The majority of instructors use a one-size-fits-all approach, and as a result, their students can quickly become frustrated and lose interest. I've always found this unfortunate because playing the guitar can be such an incredibly enjoyable and rewarding experience.

With each one of my students, I take into account how much time they are willing to practice, what playing styles interest them, and what teaching approach works best. I then come up with a lesson plan that is specifically catered to their needs.

Kris is awesome! You will never meet anyone who loves musicor teaching as much as Kris. I startedwith him almost two years ago, and as an adult, beginning voice student I ampretty inhibited. Kris has an enthusiastic manner about him though, that reallyhelps you relax and feel more confident as he instructs you. When I started outthere was a real tightness in my voice that was probably more psychological thanphysical, but he showed me some important techniques for voice relaxation andamplification. For someone as shy about singing as I am, some of histechniques may seem a little outlandish at first, but they really do work! My karaoke buddies tell me that I sound even better than before! Los Angeles, CA
View Full Profile

Having written songs all her life, Crystal now coaches beginners through the process of generating their own work. She has done this in individual tutoring sessions, as well as in Rock the Classroom - a songwriting/literacy course for grades 3-6.

About Crystal
Crystal brings a lifetime’s experience of professional musicianship to each of her lessons. Born into a family of musicians, she sang her first solo at age 2. She also benefits her students with an extraordinarily diverse musical background, having worked as a vocalist in gospel, country, musical theater, jazz, classical, rock, pop and soul styles. Her performing career has taken her from L.A. church meetings to London’s Houses of Parliament.

Crystal hails originally from Los Angeles, CA - where her musical parents gave her a head start by including her in the family business the moment she was able to contribute. She went on to study classical voice, piano and music theory at The Boston Conservatory of Music. After concluding her studies in London, she returned home and began working regularly as a theater performer, appearing in twen
ty world premiers and re-imagined classics. Most notably she played the lead role of Keely Smith in the big band jazz musical “Louis and Keely: Live At The Sahara” during its eight-month run at Westwood’s Geffen Playhouse. She also formed her own rock band, The Honeysuckle Jones Revival, with whom she performed her own songs all over Los Angeles. And she began working as a studio session vocalist, providing demo vocals for other songwriters, as well as arranging and performing back-up vocals for original artists, including Laura Roppe (currently in the Top Ten on Billboard’s Uncharted list of emerging artists.) Crystal played the lead role of Brooke in the new operatic rock musical “The Burning Opera LA” during its Los Angeles run in 2011 as well as providing ensemble vocals and playing piano and bass. She also performs holiday tunes from the Golden Age of American songwriting with musical quartet The Sleigh Belles.

Crystal believes that music is serious business but that it should be fun. She encourages her students to play music they love, as well as expanding their musical knowledge. She is a firm believer in basics first and emphasizes theory and technique as the tools to support creativity and provide freedom, power and control. She believes effort beats talent every time and the student who practices consistently will see results, whatever their level of ability. Most of all, she believes we were all born to make music.

She was operatically trained by Juilliard instructor Sylvia Bagley, trained as a jazz singer at world re-known Berklee College of Music, where she won several songwriting awards, and was R & B/Pop trained by Vocal Coach To The Stars, Seth Riggs. Fawn is a very fun, yet honest and straight-forward coach. She loves working with adults and children, and considers lessons a 'team effort to reach her students' goals. Being that music and the entertainment business are her career and life, she is current and relevant, yet has plenty of old school training to be well rounded and help students build a strong foundation. Music and the entertainment business are her life, and she loves helping people reach their goals and meet their dreams. She has released 5 albums, several singles, won numerous awards and worked with such talents as Grammy winners Lalah Hathaway and Paula Cole, Meredith Brooks, Vampire Diaries Kat Grahm, BT, Jeff Goldblum, Right Said Fred, Ed Townsend, QD3, Club Nuveau's Val Watson, Robbie Benson and shared the stage with Stevie Wonder, Chaka Khan, Carol Channing, Kevin Sorbo, Pink, Joss Stone, David Guetta, Katy Perry, Moby, Dionne Warwick, James Torme', David Foster, Thelma Houston, David Pomeranz, War and countless others. Over the years, Fawn has been known to bring students into her inner circle, so they can gain more experience and exposure, taking them to red carpets, events and even putting them up onstage to perform. She remembers having piano, voice and songwriting coaches, and being frustrated in voice because instructors were not addressing issues that needed to be addressed. This is why she creates a positive and comfortable, safe environment so students can open up and progress quickly. Fawn moves straight to the heart of the matter and gets whatever needs work figured out, so students can move on to what their goals and dreams are. She has helped actors be able to sing parts for their TV shows, helped popular bands be able to have good stage performances and presence with precision dancing and singing and has helped vocalists find their true voice. She is able to get piano students as young as 5 to a high-level Concerto level of playing with in 3 years, completely reading the pieces on their own. The youngest person she has ever taught was 3 years old and blind. The oldest person she has ever taught so far taught was 89 years old, after suffering a stroke. She was able to help her get her voice back within 20 minutes of her first lesson. Fawn also does vocal rehabilitation, vocal therapy, and music therapy. She has worked with special needs children with Downs Syndrome, ADHD, ADD, Autism Spectrum Disorder, Pit Hopkins Disease and more. As far as being a songwriter, Fawn generally writes words and music at the same time but she has also written lyrics and music separately, as well as composed instrumental pieces. Fawn has the voice of an angel. Very fitting to her as a person. Fawn literally IS an angel on earth. Fawn is a giver. She gives you all she's got and then she gives you more. It's because of her giving nature, determination and "never say never" attitude that I have pulled out of my darkest hours and moments and risen from the ashes into a new and improved recording artist. If you want real results and further your career, Fawn is the one to study with and learn from. My career is blossoming and I know in my heart it would not have happened without this incredible woman. Thank you

Song writing is, as the saying goes, 10% inspiration and 90% perspiration.

A songwriter is a craftsman who not only can create an interesting beat or think up a lyric or a write a melody, but who knows how a song is put together.

The "perspiration" part can be as creative as the "inspiration" part when you are in control, looking at the whole picture.

About Burt
Pianist/Composer/Arranger. Burt lives and works out of Long Beach California. He studied music composition and piano performance, western and eastern music theory, ethnic music, choral music and electronic music at Cal State San Bernardino, Golden West College, and Long Beach City College.

Burt performs as both soloist and as accompanist in rock and jazz ensembles and with choirs. He has also sung with various choral groups and recorded commercially with the group Meritage ("50 most loved Christmas Carols"). But was the choral director/arranger for the church Teaching of the Inner Christ in Long Beach, California for ten years.

Burt has a steady output of musical composition, from instrumental music, pop music and songs to compositions for full choir. Burt's music is a combination of live and digital instruments that can be heard on
the CD's "Meditation" volumes 1 and 2, and "Atalanta Fugiens: Fifty Alchemical Fugues".

Excellent piano teacher!

Burt has been teaching my son (age 11) piano for over two years. He is an excellent teacher -- very knowledgeable, patient, keeps things light and fun, but at the same time is appropriately demanding.

Let's write hit records together!

I'm currently on my second album and have written hundreds of songs for both myself and for others! I have toured internationally and know the ins and outs of the industry. Whether you want to write for yourself or for others - knowing how to find your unique voice is key. I also teach about the business of songwriting too - just one hit and you are set for life!

Lessons would include finding out your goals and what you want to achieve, talking about what works for what type of songs, but ultimately I want to help you write a song that will change your life.

About Kimberley
SPECIAL RATES FOR ONLINE STUDENTS! ASK ME!

Hi there!

My name is Kimberley, and I'm a British singer/songwriter, and I love teaching young people about this amazing industry! I offer songwriting, singing and piano lessons, as well as writing and composition. My first rule is that there isn't any! Each student is unique and different, and my goal is to teach in a way that's fun and interesting and keeps people engaged.

I teach all ages, young and old, novice to experienced, and take great joy in meeting new people and getting to know them and helping them learn.

Coaching can take place at your home or we can sit outside in my apartment by the pool, we can even go to a park and sit in the sunshine! I'm really flexible and want this to work for you at your own pace to help you reach your own goals.

I received one of the hig
hest marks ever in the country for Grade 8 piano when I was 14 years old and I haven't looked back! I've performed all over the world as a singer, and have always incorporated my piano as much as I can. I have had a joint number one in the UK, as well as other singles in the charts and have done arena tours throughout the UK and Europe. I have masses of performance experience and a lot of industry contacts as well.

Get in touch and we'll go from there! I'm excited to meet you and chat about what you want to achieve.
