Able to teach beginning level clarinet

Experienced clarinet teacher of 10 years available for eager students of all experience levels and ages! I structure my lessons so students learn what they want to learn, while also building a strong foundation of musicianship skills. I specialize in classical music, typically use Rubank books, but I am happy to help you learn whatever music you're interested in, or prepare for whatever upcoming audition or challenge you have.

I work with the student to develop a curriculum based on their musical interests and my own teaching pedagogy. I strongly feel that for musicians to own their education, they must have a say in what they play. Assigning method books and mindless etudes to practice doesn't have nearly the same effect asking them "Ok, what kind of music do YOU like? What do you want to PLAY? What do you want to LEARN?".

I believe that students learn best when they are invested in a subject, and the best way to get them invested is to individually get to know each one, speak to them on their level, and get them playing music they're interested in.

I will find repertoire that is best suited for you, and prepare you for college level playing. I will teach basics like fingerings all the way up to advanced techniques like altissimo and orchestral excerpts

I have been playing clarinet professionally for over ten years. My first performance was a production of "Guys and Dolls," and it opened up opportunities to play multiple woodwinds in all kinds of contexts. I am currently on-call to play with a number of symphony orchestras in town as well.

I am a band director who has played clarinet professionally for the last 20 years. I like to balance my lessons with a variety of excercises and repertoire that are catered to each student's interests, strengths and weaknesses.
