I have over 10 years of experience teaching piano lessons to students of all ages. It is most important to me that students love learning music. I see this as a way for students to develop self-motivation to practice and feel excited about their own musical growth. I strive to make music lessons both fun and challenging by incorporating interests from the student as well as mixing in technically challenging and traditional repertoire.

About Kim
I love teaching music and helping students to find a passion for learning an instrument. I have experience as a music teacher in K-12 classrooms and also teaching private lessons to people of all ages. I have been playing piano since I was 5 years old and have been singing long before that. I attended college for piano performance and then switched my major to Choral/General Music Education. Since graduating, I have consistently taught private lessons to students of all ages. In addition to being a music teacher, I have an MA in Counseling Psychology with a focus on Child Development and feel equipped to work with students with special needs.

*** Travel Equipment ***
I expect my students to have a piano or a keyboard.

Kim was extremely knowledgeable; I expected this, but she was also extremely patient, as I know nothing about playing the piano. Just playing a line from "Ode To Joy" was pretty exciting for me! I cannot compare her to other teachers because this is my first time! That said, if I had a chance to begin with someone else, I would NOT. 5 stars+:0)

I have taught piano off and on since I was 17 years old and for 3 years recently. I enjoy children ages 5 and up, beginners and intermediates, and beginning adults. I choose the curriculum according to the student's age, ability, learning style and choice. My primary goal is for the students to have a positive experience with piano and to look forward to coming each week so that they will want to continue piano or another instrument in the future. I have a lot of incentives and success in this area. I charge low fees as some clients are unsure of their ability to learn at first. I am very patient and non-judgmental, and I love what I do.

I live on the west side of the valley and usually teach in my home although I am available for outcalls depending on the distance, day and time.

I also have simple piano keyboards for rent or sale at a low price.

Thank you for your interest.

Judy

About Judy
I have taught may different kinds of subjects, ESL, Drug and Alcohol Education, Social services, in the past. Mostly, though, I have taught piano, my first and greatest love, starting in the 70's and off and on until I took it full time during the past 2 years. I develop special relationships with all of my students, and together with individually specific incentives, nearly all my students progress very quickly in their learning. I enjoy children of all ages as well as adults.

My piano lessons focus on proper technique, reading and writing, basic music theory and ear training, and learning songs based on the student's interest.

About Andrew
I started playing drums in high school and began performing in public soon after. In 2008 I decided to pursue music professionally and started freelancing and performing with various bands in Maryland, Virginia, and Washington DC.

In 2009 I traveled to Austin, TX for SXSW, performing outside of the DMV area for the first time. Later in 2009 I began studies at The New School for Jazz & Contemporary Music in NYC and in 2010 I began traveling the east coast on a regular basis performing for large crowds.

I graduated from The New School for Jazz & Contemporary Music with a BA in Jazz Studies in 2011 and continued touring the east coast, midwest, and the south with various bands.

In 2017 I relocated to California and began performing all around the bay area. In 2018 I toured Europe for the first time with world renowned blues players
Mitch Kashmar and Junior Watson. I am currently performing and teaching full time in the south bay. I teach drums, beginning bass, and beginning piano.

Andrew has been wonderful with our son. He is always on time and ready and enthusiastic to work with. Our son had never played the drums before and Andrew was kind and patient with him. He introduced concepts to him at a pace that he could handle, and also brought in elements that kept him interested and progressing at a steady pace. We are thrilled with his progress and teaching.

I have been teaching professionally for over 15 years. I have taught all ages and all levels students in a group or private lesson. (beginner to University music major students/young kids to the elderly).
I teach Pop (K-pop), Jazz, classical piano, and music theory. I customize curriculums for each students depending on their goals and level. Learn piano with an experienced pianist/teacher. All levels, all ages are welcome.
You can see my profile for more info.

About Hyojung
Hello, my name is Leann Hyojung.

When I was 5 years old, I started my piano training in classical and jazz piano.

I studied Jazz and Pop Piano at the Post Modern Music Dept. at the very famous Kyung Hee University (in South Korea). This is the same school that produced pop stars like Rain, Super Junior’s Kyuhyun, Primary, Big Bang’s GD and Daesung, TVXQ’s Yunho and Yoochon to name a few.
Since I was in College, I’ve been teaching pop and jazz piano to a variety of students, from beginner to the experienced, at all age levels. I understand every student is not the same, so I make it a priority to adapt my teaching style to match a person’s learning style to maximize the learning session.

While providing lessons to a variety of students, I joined multiple bands and jazz groups playing various genres such as, alternative rock, hi
p-hop, pop, and fusion. In these groups, I played piano concerts, played for various video projects, and also multiple studio recordings.

After I graduated with my Bachelors, I wanted to develop my music knowledge as a jazz composer. Therefore, I prepared and studied hard, and was admitted to the very competitive University of Miami Studio Jazz Writing program which is top 3 in nation for music programs. Since then, I’ve made Miami my home. In addition to playing music, I have been teaching Korean to UM students in their Direct Independent Language Studies program.

In Miami, my music creativity has grown and I have met amazing musicians. From 2011 to the present, I have arranged, composed, and continue to perform in various fields.

I believe my various experiences will help me teach you to learn the piano in any style you choose. Doesn’t matter who you are, what your experiences are, I will guide you to learn the piano, whether it be for professional reasons or recreationally.

Meet Mr. Will

His mother knew that growing up as a single mother would be hard and need something to bring her son closer to her. William told his mother that he wanted to take piano lesson, because he never could take his eyes off the organ player at Compton Chapel Church C.O.G.I.C. After a few lessons from Cheryl Black, she ended up telling his mother that he was pretty good. After 3 years, Cheryl made him a student teacher.
In middle school, since he was already taking piano lesson his mother enrolled him in band. The only band student without a private lesson teacher made 1st chair in top band class in the 7th and 8th grade. 1st chair in 1999 Southeast, Texas ULL Region Honor Band. He made an 1 o

Trumpet helped him receive a scholarship to Southern University A&M University. Playing in the marching band for 2 years he end up pledge a music fraternity in 2007 named Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia. In 2007 he came back home to finish his Engineering degree at Lamar University. His senior year at Lamar he played in the marching band also was writing band arrangements for the band. In 2011 William Henderson graduated with his Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering. As of now he is working on his thesis to earn a master’s degree in electrical engineering.
While giving private lessons on the side for low income families he begins to help at King Middle School and Ozen High School in Beaumont, Texas. 2012 Ozen High School band directors made William Henderson a staff member. My combination of teaching experience (over 20 years both individually and at the college level), knowledge of learning styles and pedagogy as well as music history and performance experience (over 30 years) allow me to provide highly enjoyable lessons. Students progress rapidly with me and also really enjoy learning as I tailor each lesson to best fit their strengths. I teach theory, technique, sight-reading, repertoire, and music history, provide 2 recitals annually at a fancy recital hall with a concert Steinway grand, and also teach songwriting/arranging/composition with Garageband and soon ProTools.

I also maintain standards of excellence with tailored technical exercises, theory, and sight-reading practice customized to each unique individual. Detailed curriculum provided as well as weekly practice instructions. My students have 2 recitals a year at a gorgeous recital hall with a Steinway grand.

At a young age, I was earning scholarships and entry to competitive piano master classes; I then earned a BA in classical piano performance. Due to my many years of both individual private piano and university teaching, I am able to customize lessons to best fit each unique individual and use my knowledge of theory and music history to make
each lesson exciting and enjoyable.
I use games and apps to make learning music fun for younger children mixed in with playing and singing. I specialize in theory, repertoire, and technique and will find the perfect technical exercises to help you perfect that Mozart sonata or Rachmaninoff prelude. I also love teaching beginners and seeing them learn to love music.

I am a composer and work with my band. I have a music channel online (see videos) featuring original music written by me and performed by my band. I compose original piano compositions as well as rock/classical mash-ups with my band. My two daughters who are at intermediate level have been with Toby for half a year now, and all of us are very happy with her. When we decided to switch to her we were looking for someone with different teaching style than our previous teacher. We do want someone who not only has formal training in classical, but also is well-versed in more modern music (rock, pop, etc). I also want someone who can explain and communicate well with children, is patient, encouraging and most importantly can inspire the students. So far Toby has met my expectations. After switching to her, my children have started to actually enjoy playing after all these years. They are now learning both classical and popular. Toby always encourages them to play with passion. I can see that they're improving both technically and musically. Toby gives her student 100% during the lesson. She also likes to share some insights related to the piece of music or the composer which I appreciate. I highly recommend her.

I really could not recommend Samantha more highly. I am SO lucky I found her! The value for the lessons is awesome. She is extremely well-trained and well-educated. To be honest, I wondered what I would get because some teachers charged more and as a student I really couldn’t afford more. A lot of teachers don’t actually teach proper technique. I love knowing that I’m learning to play properly, and that I learn some theory along the way. She’s also really encouraging and the way she tunes into what you like is a special gift she has as a teacher. She finds what you like and what you’re good at and capitalizes on it so you’re always enjoying yourself, being challenged, and feel motivated. I’m learning as an adult and I love the book she decided to use also. Samantha is also flexible and responsive to texts. Another thing I really like about her is that she writes up your “homework” for the week, with specific things to work on. Again, I really just can’t believe the value I get. I will be with Samantha for a long time.
