I took up clarinet several years ago and have done some writing and recording for clarinet. I'm happy to offer my skills and to work with novice players on proper fingering and technique, embouchure, music notation reading and theory, phrasing, and musicality.

About Gio

I studied music at UCF (Orlando), focusing on classical and jazz guitar, but I also have years of experience playing rock, blues, folk, hip-hop, and musical theater on both guitar and drums. I have been teaching guitar, drums, and piano for about eight years to students of all ages. Music is wha

Although I am primarily a saxophonist, clarinet is a secondary instrument that most saxophonists also have to know how to play. As a performer it is an absolute necessity that I be able to double on the clarinet and be just as proficient.

My goal as a teacher is to provide an in depth understanding of the instrument to my students. Whether we are learning technique specific to the instrument or general musical concepts, it is important to me that I take the time to insure that my students not only learn how to do something, but also the reasons why we are learning a specific concept or technique. At the end of the day, my ultimate goal is to teach you how to teach yourself, so that you may enjoy playing the instrument outside of our lessons together.

I prefer not to conform to a specific teaching style, because every student is different, and I have been fortunate to have a great variety of types of students throughout my years as a teacher. Some of my students are ...

Matt is an excellent instructor, adapting easily to my needs as an experienced musician, but a new saxophone student. He was able to provide the guidance I was looking for on the C Melody saxophone, even though it's not one of his main instruments. Matt took me through the basics at a pace that was very comfortable and spent a lot of time to help me find a tone that was right for traditional / folk music on the instrument.

I feel much more comfortable with the C Melody saxophone than I did before the lessons, and I'm confident that Matt has put me on the right path to continue improving in the long term.

For someone who has never taken a private music lesson before I able to relax and begin learning about music literacy and music theory by Isaiah's ability to express and articulate the fundamentals of guitar in a simplified way. It was rewarding to leave the lesson with new techniques to practice and have fun with.
