I am offering violin lessons, both online and at students' places! Whether you have no music experience at all or have some violin experience, I can help you improve technique and musicality by working on exercises and various pieces of music. Not only do I draw from my experience studying music and taking private lessons since childhood, but I also tailor my lessons to meet each student’s individual learning style and interests.

With my assertive yet relational personality, students can expect to build a solid foundation of technique, intonation, and other skills through my unique methods for learning efficiently which I have developed through the course of over 15 years of teaching violin. Whether they are in beginning, intermediate, or advanced levels, I provide a well-rounded teaching approach that would help them gain confidence in their musical and learning abilities as well as motivate them to practice and progress! ! Please NOTE: At this time, besides advanced and intermediate level students, beginning students may only be accepted for online lessons with me if they had at least 1 solid month of weekly lessons.

Maya joined the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra in 2007. After receiving her Master of Music degree from the Juilliard School in 2001, she became a member of the Honolulu Symphony. In Hawaii, she recorded with the prestigious Hawaiian singer Keali’i Reichel on his album Ke’alaokamaile, which was nominated for a Grammy Award in 2005.

A native of Japan, Maya received Bachelor and Master of Music degrees from Tokyo University of the Arts. She attended seminars in Japan and England with the Amadeus Quartet and performed in both countries as a member of the Sunrise String Quartet.

In the United States, Shiraishi studied with Masao Kawasaki on scholarships at the Juilliard School, where she received a master’s degree in 2001. She has also studied with Garrett Fischbach from the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra and Yoko Takebe from the New York Philharmonic. I have been playing violin since I was five years old and have been teaching violin for the last six years! I am currently finishing my degree in Music Education, with violin concentration, from Temple University. I am passionate about teaching and love working with students. I enjoy teaching absolute beginners all the way up to violinists studying advanced materials and preparing for auditions. We will learn technique, musicianship skills, and a variety of repertoire!
