I can teach you the basics of singing, including posture, support, technique and (most importantly) telling the music's story.

I teach vocal lessons for all ages and all experiences. I want to help people understand how their voice works, how to use it well and to ultimately enjoy singing. My lessons (can) include breathing exercises, warm-up exercises, sight-singing, ear training and then working on a specific repertoire. Each lesson is crafted to my students goals and desires for personal growth and knowledge.

Lawrence has been teaching Pop / R&B / Gospel music since 2013. He passes on knowledge that he has gained from the great gospel singer/instructor Ken Anderson from UCSD's gospel choir, along with his own personal experiences in performing and auditioning. Lawrence is a pop/r&b/gospel singer and he can show you the exercises, little things and tips he has learned from his great vocal coach since 2010.

I will meet you wherever you are, and together we will develop a personalized plan to meet your goals. Whether you want to wow your friends at karaoke, become a more well-rounded musician, start auditioning for shows/groups, learn to love your voice, recover from vocal issues, or just learn to sing for yourself, I want to help! I will combine - all in an easy-to understand format - music theory, voice theory, ear training, vocal training for multiple styles, vocal/auditory health, and music analysis to create the best plan to make you into the musician you want to be!

Singing is a very technical thing. The human voice is an instrument like any other that you can understand and use in a technical manner. But also your voice is a direct extension of your spirit, your identity, your history, and your passions that others can directly perceive! Singing is one of the most wonderful gifts we've been given and I believe that we should all have the opportunity to express ourselves through music! I've been teaching for 5 years and am well-versed in a variety of styles. I have performed in operas, musicals, and contemporary performing groups, and feel comfortable teaching in all of the above-listed genres. I began singing and taking lessons as a child and am comfortable teaching young children, as well as adults! I'm currently finishing a Doctorate in Voice from Indiana University's Jacobs School of Music. I can't wait to meet you and get started!
