About Matt
I have been teaching guitar to students on the East and West Coasts of the United States for over 20 years. I was always interested in music and made my first “recording” at the age of 2 and a half. I got serious about playing the guitar when I was 10 years old after hearing the legendary Randy Rhoads for the first time.
I begged my parents for a guitar, which I received at Christmas, along with a parental demand that I take classical guitar lessons, and a warning that if I did not practice, my parents would sell the guitar. Six months later, I still had the guitar, and a brand new electric guitar. I never stopped practicing, and spent summers at the National Guitar Summer Workshop, where I even built a guitar at age 15.
By the time I was in high school, I was regularly playing in bands, recording in professional studios, and studying M
usic Theory. I credit my early development to my teachers, Ron Bluen, and Steve Famiglietti. I aspire to offer my students the same positive influence I received during my formative years.
After high school, I attended the Musicians Institute in Hollywood, California, where I honed my chops. From there, I played with various bands, including Hollywood Rose (the precursor to Guns N’ Roses) and with Bruce Bouillet (Racer X, The Scream, Epidemic) and Tommy Chong.
In 2006, I released my solo record, Contributions For An Atom Bomb. The Album has garnered a cult following and the respect of some of my all-time heroes.
Today, I continue to play live shows, teach, study, write, record and jam. Nothing makes me prouder than jamming with my students and watching them grow as musicians.

*** Lesson Details ***
I like to focus on three things every lesson.
1. Technical Exercises- to get your fingers moving and build strength and coordination
2. Music Theory - the fingerboard and the way music works seem complicated, but I have a great methodical and simple way to break it down so it all makes sense.
3. Tunes - I like to work with the music you like. We take songs and break them down to understand the techniques and theory behind them. You won't just play the song like the recording, you'll understand the chords and scales and why your favorite artist chose them.

*** Studio Equipment ***
I have guitars, a bass, pedals, cables, metronome, practice amps, etc. All you need to bring is your guitar.

*** Travel Equipment ***
I provide my own equipment and materials, students must provide their own guitar, amp, etc.

*** Specialties ***
I teach students to understand theory and the fingerboard. All styles and genres are acceptable but I specialize in rock.

Great teacher!

Matt has been friendly and encouraging, has considerable knowledge of his instrument, and has even inspired us to practice every day! He's a great teacher for younger children, has a passion for music, and is a source of inspiration.

An excellent teacher

I started taking lessons with Matt when I was 16 and when we started up again this year (I'm now 31) we were able to pick right back up where we left off. That should tell you all you need to know about how much he cares about his students.

He's an especially excellent teacher because he's so passionate about music and his instrument. You'll never run out of new things to learn because he's always learning new things himself.

Nobody will teach you to love the guitar like this dude!

About Megan
I grew up in a music store, and learned a love for music at an early age. I started piano at age 3, and just kept adding instruments from there. I majored in music at MidAmerica Nazarene University, where I was on scholarship for Piano, Trumpet and French Horn. I have taught General Music, Beginning Band, and Beginning Orchestra in four LA area private and charter schools, as well as teaching music classes for home-school co-op groups in the Hollywood area. I've been teaching private lessons for nearly 10 years, taking students from ages 4-adult, from beginner to intermediate skill levels.

*** Lesson Details ***
Music should be fun, and my lessons are geared towards keeping students engaged and excited. I've developed a very out-of-the-box teaching style that takes into account the student's learning style, interests, and goals. It
's important for students to feel successful from day 1, and it's my goal to have each student playing a song by the end of the first lesson. We sing, move, and play our way through music!

I love the fact that Megan manages to balance exercises that are really fun and easy for me as well as some which are harder and which I need to work on. She adjusts the pace to my abilities and I always feel I have accomplished something after our lessons, which is great.
She lets me chose songs, but always has suggestions, if I don't.

About Tamara
Hello! My name is Tamara. I grew up in Minnesota and started taking piano and violin lessons when I was ten years old. I played in orchestra, in pits, sang in choir, acted in plays, and competed in speech competitions. After graduating from high school I went to the American Musical & Dramatic Academy in New York City to study musical theatre. I completed my BFA in Musical Theatre from Millikin University and have been acting and singing in professional productions in Chicago and Minneapolis ever since. I've also taught piano, violin, and voice lessons to private students for the past five years. I moved to LA last May with my Yorkshire terrier, Teddy. I love music and interacting with young people, and while I will encourage you in your practice and progress, I believe the most important thing is to enjoy learning and creating music.

About Stephen
Currently looking for new students.
I teach piano, japanese, chess, go(weiqi/baduk), and meditation/self-improvement.
I am very proficient in all of the above subjects and have helped dozens of students reach their long-term goals over the years. I am also very patient and have taught children piano lessons for more than 10 years. As a learner I know how overwhelming new subject-matter could be and I tend to understand the pace that the student needs/wants to go at.
I feel a huge sense of accomplishment when I see my students improving. I also am constantly improving myself as a teacher so the lessons will only get better and the material should be easier to understand with time.
Let's master anything you want to work on, and have a lot of fun too :)
Thanks for reading!
-Stephen

Patient instructor. I'm super rusty and he was able to keep at my pace. He also made it interesting by using practical scenarios and alternating with cartoons or games. He watches anime as well so I was able to learn while talking about things I like. It helped practicing much easier.

日本語の理解が深い。四字熟語とかことわざとかもいっぱい知っているし、漢字も教えられるし、上級者でも授業を受けてもいいと思う。初心者を教えるところも見たことあって、わかりやすく説明してくれた。
I think that both advanced learners and beginners could benefit from taking one of his lessons.
