Welcome to the world of Photography! Within the first few lessons, you'll be able to gain an understanding of the basics. Basics such as the exposure triangle, how to compose and pick your shots, different uses for the tools found in Photoshop and Lightroom (post processing), how to effectively use lighting, and much more. As time goes on you'll be able to retouch and stylize your photos, to give them that professional look you have been wanting. All you need to get started is a camera and your eye. I look forward to seeing you and as always stay creative!

Whether you have never picked up your DSLR camera before or are starting to become serious about photography, my lessons will help you get on the right track. I have been teaching Photoshop on Takelessons for 3 years now, and I am now deciding to expand my lessons and offer photography as well. We can go over how to use your camera, what gear you should bring, lenses, how to control: shutter speed, aperture, ISO, etc. We can get into technical aspects such as printing, post processing, and sharing your images online as well. I am a "Canon guy", so that is my specialty!

Build A Strong Foundation For Your Photography Practice.

As a photographer, you will need to master the technical basics of the camera and form an understanding of the kind of equipment you need. I will also teach something even more important (and crucial for success) than the mechanics of digital photography - how to bring your creative vision to fruition.

I'm a seasoned photographer, have been taking pictures for 5 years. I'm also a member of the Toronto Photography Alliance. My lesson places emphasis on quality visuals and experiential learning. Here's your takeaway:

- How to bring together the elements of manual mode to create an evocative image: shutter speed, aperture, and image composition
- How to choose the right gear, and develop efficient workflow.
- How to recognize and take advantage of beautiful natural light.

I will teach you to step back from your images and think critically about your motivations, process, and ultimate goals for a digital photography project. ...

I am complete photography and art newbie. Stephen did a very thorough job teaching the course and ensuring the main and important concepts had stuck. He was happy to answer any and all questions regarding photography or even specifics of the different cameras that I should buy. I feel like I now know how to use the manual mode on my camera and how to take and compose some basic artistic shots.

"Mark is a thoroughly knowledgeable, patient and encouraging instructor. I just completed a series of lessons with him to learn the basic elements of my new camera and settings so that I can go beyond the auto settings before embarking on a trip to Peru. I couldn't be happier with what Mark taught me. In addition to the basics of aperture, shutter and program auto modes, he provided very practical information on things like tripods, storage, programs and apps. "There are many people out there that can teach you to snap a picture, but Sandra will help you learn the process of how to create a photograph. That is her strength, along with a gentle touch and her vast experience of working with some of the best photographers in the business. I strongly recommend you reach out to her if you wish to become a better photographer.

I had the great opportunity to work with Sandra. As my photo coach and editor, her insightful suggestions to the way I was approaching my work helped me sharpen my photographic skills and storytelling. Working with Sandra was all about honing my strengths as a photographer but also opening my eyes to other possibilities of storytelling and the craft of photography that helped me overcome my inexperience when creating a photograph."
