I incorporate ear training in all music lessons and also tutor for students preparing for violin/theory exams.
I love teaching, and enjoy passing on that joy, knowledge, and experience to my students! I have over 20 years teaching experience and tailor lessons according to the student's goals, abilities, and preference in musical styles. Whether you're wanting to learn the violin to be a virtuoso or just as a personal hobby, I believe you should enjoy the learning process!
I am passionate about music and enjoy teaching aspiring students! I am active as a violin teacher, performer, chamber and studio recording musician in the greater Los Angeles area. I hold a Masters of Music Degree in Violin Performance from California State University, Long Beach and have been playing the violin since the age of four. I've enjoyed teaching private lessons for the past 21 years and have experience in teaching group and private lessons to students of all ages,
coaching string orchestras and string ensembles. I have a broad education in music with knowledge of classical, modern, and world music, as well as advanced training in music theory which I incorporate in private lessons. I have also studied conducting, music analysis, music history, voice, and advanced piano.
While I specialize in classical music, I help my students discover what genre of music they're passionate about learning, including classical, jazz, pop, and fiddle. Lessons include scales, technique, ear training, sight reading, music theory, solos, duets, music performance and the option to prepare for auditions and orchestras. I'm also experienced with Royal Conservatory and Suzuki methods, and tailor the curriculum I use depending on the need of each individual student. Please contact me for up to date lesson availabilities!
She's very good. Very patient and clear. She'll tailor the lessons to your level of understanding. I'm an older adult learner with no musical knowledge at all and am learning fast thanks to her. I look forward to continuing my lessons.

I’m not a young student, therefore It takes me longer to learn, Connie is a true professional. She uses methods that work for me and so far I’m enjoying it very much. I highly recommend her. Thanks Connie!

My name is Chris and I am a professional guitar player. I have been teaching sense 2008 now and sharing the joy of music with others has become a passion of mine. I started playing the piano at the age of five, the trumpet at nine and the guitar at thirteen. Over the years I have also learned to play the drums, bass, harmonica as well as how to sing. I studied at L.A. Music Academy as well as Musicians Institute. I am currently in two bands and putting together a third. I do session work for other artists and have played the National Anthem for a profession football team.
*** Lesson Details *** When taking lessons from me there are many things my students can expect. First and most importantly it will be fun! Music is supposed to be fun and expressive so why make it boring and repetitive? For each student that I have I make a custom
curriculum just for them based on their musical desires, strengths and weaknesses so I can help them become the best player that they can be. Each lessons will be a balance of learning new technique and theory and applying them in songs that excite and inspire. Things such as: music theory, ear and harmony training, single string technique, sight and cord chart reading, cord structure, song writing, tone shaping, guitar maintenance and playing live will be covered with students as they advance. Feed back is always welcome and appreciated. This is your lesson, let's make sure you get the most out of it.
*** Studio Equipment *** Music Studio: Guitars, amps, mixing board, protools, computer with external stereo, seating for parents can be arranged
*** Travel Equipment *** I can bring my own guitar and cables. But the student will need to have their own guitar, amp etc
*** Specialties *** Blues, Rock, Metal, Jazz, Funk and Country
I cover hearing chords, intervals, rhythms, and progressions.
I am very patient and adjust areas of study to fit my students goals.
I started playing music around the Kansas City area twenty five years ago. I graduated from The University of Southern California with a degree in studio/jazz guitar (cum laude). While at USC, I received a merit scholarship and an award for professional leadership and service within her department. I also graduated with honors from Musicians Institute (GIT), of Hollywood, CA.
I have toured the U.S. and Canada playing venues such as The Portland Rose Festival, The Playboy Jazz Festival, The Santa Monica Twilight Concert Series, Irvine Lake Blues Festival,The Burnaby British Columbia Blues Festival and the Long Beach Blues Festival. The headliners at these events included Robben Ford, The Neville Brothers, and Johnny Winter.
I have released two solo CD's that have received first-rate reviews, as well as international airplay. Af
ter the second CD, I was biographied for AMG (All Music Guide) the internet's first source for music information. Here are excerpts from the AMG bio:
... there are also elements of Jimi Hendrix (arguably the first true heavy metal/hard rock artist), Jeff Beck and Stevie Ray Vaughan in her playing, and she clearly has a strong appreciation of jazz--not only jazz-rock fusion improvisers like John Scofield, Larry Coryell and Mahavishnu Orchestra founder John McLaughlin, but also, straight-ahead bop favorites such as Kenny Burrell, Grant Green, Wes Montgomery and Joe Pass.......eclectic outlook is one of her strong points; her ability to move from a tough, aggressive blues-rock groove to a more cerebral, fusion-minded approach to the occasional soul-jazz/hard bop number has made for some very unpredictable albums.
I have been teaching full-time for the past 15years. I have taught all ages and popular styles. In 2008, my blues guitar method was published and distributed through Amazon.
*** Lesson Details *** I incorporate a tailored curriculum to help people achieve their personal goals. Learning music is not a "one-size fits all" proposition. I can show you the songs that you want to play. I can also teach you music theory, technique, improvisation, reading and more. I adjust your course of study according to your areas of interest. If you are dying to learn a Led Zeppelin tune, or are planning on auditioning for a college level jazz guitar program, I can help you achieve these goals. I have taught hundreds of beginners along side more advanced students. My students have gone one to study music at GIT, Fullerton College, Pasadena City College, Berklee, Cal State LA, and USC.
Most of all, I am extremely patient. The ability to playing a musical instrument is measure on a calendar, not on a watch. I often work at a slow, systematic pace. I am generally very laid-back. On the other hand, if you learn very quickly, I can readily show you the skills you need to meet your goal. I have fast-tracked many individuals that were seeking admittance to an academic program.
My teaching studio is computer equipped. This allows me to incorporate computer software that enhances learning. One such program, Band in a Box, generates accompaniment for students so that they can work on their soloing skills. Another program can slow recorded music down so that the student can practice slowly with it. Also, I often give out play-along practice CDs for improved learning.
The aspect of performance is often not addressed by many. I am able to work with my guitar students while accompanying by performing live bass or drum parts, or work with bass students while playing the guitar or drum parts. This allows the student to understand his or her roll in an live band.
*** Studio Equipment *** Dedicated music room room w/ guitars, bass, drum set, pa system, and seating for parents
*** Specialties *** I teach all popular guitar and bass styles. I am a expert in Jazz, Blues, and R&B. (degree in Studio/Jazz guitar) Great with theory, technique and reading. Have given recording lessons with CUBASE. Now teaching drum kit to beginners
I really like Kimberly because she lets me pick my own songs to learn and is really nice in general. She makes music sheets for me to take home and study and I’ve learned a lot from her since my first lesson. I think she is a great music teacher and I hope anybody who wants to take guitar lessons will give her a shot.
Ear training is something that is very important for all musicians. In these lessons we will learn basic music theory, how to read music, interval training, rhythm training, basic conducting, sight reading, solfege, and much more. Please bring a recording device or notepad to your lesson. Ear training is an excellent tool that puts you ahead of the game, but it takes practice. I teach with patience and fun because I feel that this is the key to achieving goals and inspiring a good work ethic.
Thank you for your interest in lessons! I hope to help you achieve your goals and improve your skills, whether you're looking for music lessons, or help in math. Every student is a unique person who deserves a lesson customized to their individual needs. Each of my students prosper in an atmosphere of patience and encouragement. While the lessons are fun and enjoyable, the serious student will be supported in the development of skills leading to a rewarding career, and the more casual students will grow in an appreciation of knowledge that will enrich their lives.
I received my bachelor's degree in music with an emphasis on vocal performance at the University of Redlands in 2011 (which I attended on a music talent scholarship), and am now an active performer in Los Angeles, CA. I have been tutoring and teaching privat
e lessons for almost 10 years, and currently have over 40 active students.
I have played leading roles in several operas and musicals in Southern California, including Gianni Schicchi, Die Fledermaus, La Boheme (DTL nominee), The Impresario, The Tales of Hoffmann, The Grand Duke, Patience (DTL award), Cosi fan tutte, Little Women, Seussical, and many more. I have also appeared in several concerts, opera scenes, competitions (winning music scholarships and theater awards), and worked as a singer in churches, restaurants, and in pop bands. I continue to stay active in the performance industry, and I could never live without it!
With this experience under my belt, I feel a desire to pass on my knowledge to students. I carry a strong passion to help people develop their abilities and make them their own. I truly believe that if someone wants something out of life they will achieve it with dedication, perseverance, confidence, and by having FUN doing it!
I started off playing piano by ear and then found out that I have perfect pitch. I am also really good at memorizing music and could help students break music down into memorable moments so that things are easier for them. I also train students to know the difference between notes and intervals. I also see color in my mind when I hear notes, so the visual aspect is something we could also take a look at in lessons.
With my two Bachelor's degrees in Music Composition and Technology, I began tutoring students in piano, voice, and composition as it was part of my training. I also have experience writing and editing essays, books, and more for several independent clients. I have experience writing my own books as well. I have written two so far, but am getting ready to write a third. I am a copious editor and can catch grammatical and other errors with ease. This is why tutoring in English would be great for me. I thought I would add basic math for those school-aged children that are having a little trouble with it in their classes. Usually, I teach lessons in my home in Diamond Bar or online, but if the need arises, I could surely work out coming to the students' homes for one-on-one tutoring help. With me, most students click after a few lessons and
understand what they couldn't in the classroom. I help the students by teaching in innovative ways that will catch their attention more than standard teaching methods. Students should consider me for I can make learning fun and never a chore!
*** Lesson Details *** I use a wide variety of techniques to sing, play piano and other instruments. Techniques include straight vowel singing (no words) to test how long to hold notes, using color to help people sight read, using improvisational techniques in order to play jazz, rock, classical and many other styles of music. I use what they student has under his or her belt as a starting point to see what lessons we could start them on. I also assist with online lessons to make transportation a thing of the past. If you've got a webcam or Skype, I can do long-distance lessons with you! So, I am here to help!
*** Studio Equipment *** Alesis Recital Keyboard Music sheets Web cam Mac computer (MacBook Pro) Finale music notation software to help in composition and theory lessons.
*** Travel Equipment *** Music paper for away lessons. Finale for composition and music theory lessons. Can use macbook for more elaborate teaching or demonstration if need be.
*** Specialties *** I do teach classical composition with specialties in ensemble and chamber music. I also specialize in songwriting for pop and other media. I teach voice and vocal techniques of sacred choral and vocal music. I teach classical and jazz piano and improvisation. I also have the distinction in being able to teach students with special needs or learning disabilities as I have a mild form of cerebral palsy and understand what students with special needs go through.

Students will learn to identify musical patterns by ear such as rhythm, scale types, and interval and chord qualities. They will also be able to notate what they hear onto paper, reinforcing music theory.
Welcome to my profile! I provide a warm and encouraging environment for students to make the mistakes necessary for learning an instrument and exploring their musical creativity. My passion for music has inspired me to pursue teaching and performance professionally in order to help others achieve their musical dreams.
My ultimate goal is for my students to gain all the skills necessary for creating meaningful musical experiences for themselves. Specifically I try to help them gain clean technique, a pleasing and expressive tone, basic understanding of music theory, and enough knowledge of music history to play with appropriate expression. I try to accomplish these goals by clearly explaining careful and deliberate practice techniques that remove the stress often associated with daily practice. Students will reap the benefits if they a
re committed to a daily practice schedule, are attentive during lessons, ask questions, and are honest with themselves about what is and is not working.
I began my teaching career in college while earning a Bachelor's in Music from Southwestern University (magna cum laude). I currently play as a soloist and with groups including AURORA: Trio for Flute, Harp, and Cello, the Shimmer Flute Choir, and Sounds of Silver Flute Quartet. I am also an active member of the Music Teacher's National Association and volunteer coordinator of the Houston Flute Club.
I love performing and I share my passion for music with my students.

***I only teach lessons in my studio or online for certain subjects. I DO NOT TRAVEL TO STUDENTS' HOMES.***
I offer lessons that cover just about every aspect of playing the Western concert flute. Students can expect to become well-rounded musicians who are knowledgeable about flute technique, tone, music theory and history. I use a combination of the Rubank Method and Flute 101 books with handout supplements.
The biggest changes I've seen in my students after a few months is a better understanding of how to practice efficiently as well as improved tone. Furthermore, every year many of my students earn superior ratings of 1 on their UIL solos.
Every Spring my students and I participate in Flute Fest, a day-long celebration of all things flute, including concerts, masterclasses, and a solo and ensemble contest. A few weeks later we have our annual studio recital where everyone shows off their hard work.
A NOTE ABOUT WOODEN FLUTES
Occasionally I am asked to help students play wooden, non-western flutes. Although the very basic fundamentals are the same, I do not play these flutes and do not teach them.
Piano is not only fun to play for its own sake, but provides a foundation for all music making. Students will learn about proper posture and hand-positioning, note-reading, rhythm, and a little history as well, using the Piano Pronto book series.
Music Theory Lessons:
I can help students of any instrument better understand the fundamental concepts of music theory: scales, intervals, chords, part-writing, etc. Theory lessons take place at the piano to demonstrate concepts. However, students do not have to play piano to take theory lessons. I typically use a combination of the Master Theory curriculum and other handouts, unless the student is already working out of another textbook.
**Online theory lessons** use the same curriculum, but with the screen share feature to help my demonstrations.
During the summer I offer additional group classes on different subjects, including theory and ear-training. I try something new every year to provide a variety of opportunities for students to learn and grow in their musicianship.
***Tuition Packages*** I have combined my own policies with TakeLessons'. I consider the Recurring Schedule a Subscription Package, where clients pay the same amount every month, equal to the value of four lessons, regardless of the number of lessons attended. This guarantees a permanent reservation of your time slot. I only allow Schedule-As-You-Go under special circumstances. Please send me a message first if you are unsure about committing to a regular time. I am happy to answer questions about tuition through the Ask A Question feature!
*** Studio Equipment *** My studio is located in the front room of my home and includes a music stand, piano, and comfortable chairs in case parents would like to stay for the lesson.
*** Specialties *** While I teach all aspects of music-making, I give particular focus on rhythmic accuracy (counting and reading rhythms). clean technique, and efficient practice strategies.

My goal is to challenge my students to grow and improve in their musical excellence and enjoy the music along the way! I am patient, positive and encouraging with my students!
Josh is very patient and focused on the lesson, managed to direct me to the mistakes I make with my voice in a few minutes, I found it very cool and I feel that I will learn a lot from him with each class.
December 7, 2017
I needed some help prepping for an audition and Josh was such a phenomenal teacher! He gives great instruction and also creates a comfortable environment to practice stage presence. I felt very prepared for those auditions and will be taking more lessons from him in the future!

Josh is great! Knowledgeable, patient, and flexible. He took the time and energy to create lesson plans and methods that fit my needs and level of understanding. I'd recommend him wholeheartedly to anyone looking to improve their musical knowledge and skills.

a lot short hands for ear training. I hope I could take her lesson again."
"Chris is an awesome teacher! I have been taking lessons with Chris for a few months. I had spent quite an extended period studying with other instructors
but Chris is still helping develop me to a better musician and guitar player. Have been working on some ear training stuff that other instructors maybe would not have taken the time to work with me on! Working on hearing and playing the divided sky by phish right now not an easy piece of music. Also working on more phrasing and country blues licks and theory. I would definitely recommend Chris to anyone👍🎸"
"INCREDIBLE. WORTH EVERY PENNY!"
"Terrific teacher and teaching method for ear training. Great brush up on my skills!"
