I do my absolute best to create a positive atmosphere for my students. Even when the students feel frustrated or stressed, it is important to inspire them and give them the fuel that they need. Though I am strict when it comes to homework and their about their studies. Every lesson at the beginning I will review what we learned previously and test them.
then begin with proper breathing technique exercises, the cornerstone of all vocals. We move on to vocal exercises to condition the voice. Then we work on the songs that you are eager to sing!
I will use a piano when doing vocal warm ups and conditioning exercises. Students that play other instruments and accompany themselves when performing (such as a guitar) are encouraged to bring that instrument to their lessons. My goal is for them to gain the knowledge that they need to help reach their artistic goals.
With all my lessons every student will be taught a basic run down of Music Theory. My students will always progress in what they do. They will have the discipline that they need and yet have fun and be filled with inspiration. Which is the most important thing, to be Inspired to do better.

Songwriting can be made simple. I'm both an independent songwriter (Thea) and film composer. My experience over 20 years ranges from classical (American College of Music President's Award for original classical piano piece) to pop (IMDB credits include indie film theme song and full film score with DreamWorks Director). I've been writing songs for years with DAW's and in professional recording studio environments, including my own. My program Rockstar For A Day™ will help develop you as an artist and get your songs out into the world!
Not only am I am coach, but I also am a recording artist, singer/songwriter and composer. I just released my first EP, Beautiful Warrior, recorded at my own studio as well as throughout Greater Los Angeles studios.
I started piano at age 4 and continued study for decades under top talent. I perform solo and in bands and keep up to date on techniques in the music industry through seminars, showcases and conferences. My own compositions blend classical piano with pop elements, which I have created throughout various local professional recording studios, including my own.
I lend over 20 years of music and academic excellence to helping you realize your musical dreams: coaching, accompanying, performing (solo, ensembles, bands and rock bands), competing, arranging, composing, singing, songwriting an
I maintain professional association with ASCAP (American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers), IMDB (Internet Movie Database), LAWIM (Los Angeles Women In Music), NSAI (Nashville Songwriters Association International), the CCC (California Copyright Conference), and Phi Theta Kappa Honorary Society Alumni.
My unique journey as a musician/artist has led me to deeply understand what it takes to break away from the traditional grind of work and life to pursue professional musicianship and greatness as an artist. Although I train musicians of any age or skill level, I focus on those who are either professionals or who are motivated and committed to becoming professionals. I specifically teach (i) piano (with classical emphasis) (ii) the craft of songwriting, which has many multi-faceted components and (iii) composition. With extensive experience in classical and contemporary (pop, ambient, down tempo) music, I put equal focus on technique and fostering a musician’s personal style and passion for music.
I want you to achieve your greatest musical abilities. Moreover, I want to help you discover who you are as an ARTIST. So, to pull the very best out of you as your coach, I consider it my job to be requiring of you. To challenge you. To assign homework when needed (most often theory-related), but to balance it with fun. To encourage technique which will allow you the ability to play, or even write music, free form. To set realistic goals with you that you can be accountable for, and to dream beyond those initial goals.
I will provide you access to materials and opportunities unique to your interests, in and outside of lesson times. But I will let you determine your own pace. I will encourage and inspire you to move beyond any misconceptions; that notions of age or talent have nothing to do with achieving the success you desire. But I will respect the level of success you wish to achieve.
Basically, what you need to start is motivation and commitment! I will then spend the first lesson discussing your materials needs based on what method/keyboard you currently use or prefer to use (if you have one), allowing you to make requests for information before proceeding further. Otherwise, I will provide you with informed recommendations. Equally important, at your first lesson I will work with you to determine what specific goals you have so we can track them, together, and meet them, one by one!
I make special efforts to invest in each student’s particular needs to help them move beyond blocks and weaknesses, utilizing a variety of tools such as flash cards and supplemental workbooks, e.g. ear training, sight reading, note spelling, etc. as necessary.
Set your own pace with flexible teaching times--Suggested reading materials--Suggested mobile downloads to complement learning--Opportunities throughout L.A. county to practice, perform and/or learn musically--MIDI training with Logic Studio
2011 marked the successful launch of Rockstar For A Day, a trademarked artistic development program and production I developed to help give music students a taste of rock stardom. You’re invited to participate!
"I started to learn to play piano at the age of 31. Dorothea introduced me to the world of piano. She was very patient with me and tailored the class toward my pace and interests. She is a fun and enthusiastic person. I felt really sad when she told me that she had to move." ~Duoli, PhD, Tucson, Arizona
"Dorothea's teaching style and level of comprehension from a students viewpoint is unprecedented. Her ability to naturally sync with my learning style has left me with an absolute understanding of my musical abilities, ones I never thought I possessed. She has a seamless ability to progress from musical theory to practical application, and it continues to feel as if she knows the right direction to continue that progression. I drive from San Diego to Los Angeles to attend her classes, probably passing at least 50 other instructors along the way. I would, without a doubt, recommend Dorothea to beginner, intermediate, or advanced students of all ages and backgrounds. With her you will succeed." - Jesse, radio broadcast DJ, San Diego, California

Dora is the best piano teacher I've ever had. Her methods are so solid and she is so great at communicating. Without her knowledge, she motivates me to practice at home :) She's seriously awesome. So take lessons with her :D
· Piano ·
Iâm an adult who has played the piano for years on and off. Because of my prior experience I often ask questions that a beginner would not think about. Such as, is this a better scale fingering than the traditional one? Or what is a common key to use to accompany a sing-a-along group on a piano? Dorothea consistently provides intelligent and sometimes surprising answers to my questions.
She also is very focused on what you want to accomplish. Unlike past piano teachers, and I loved them all, who seemed intent on my learning the full classical literature, Dorothea asks what your main interest is. Is it composition, or playing, or arranging? Then she drives the lessons in that direction. Very customized lessons.
Another interesting example is scales. Whatâs new in that area, I thought? So she pulls out a book that has clearly defined levels of accomplishment. For example, if you can play the C major scale, quarter note = 80, with your left hand, you get one âpointâ. If you can do the same with your right, thatâs another point. Playing with both hands together is yet another point. Playing both hands together but in contrary motion is another point. This pattern is repeated at increasing tempos and the number of points accumulated indicates your skill level. With that approach itâs not a matter of how long one practices but one practices long enough to reach a desired, measurable, skill level. I think that approach is novel and I had never seen it used before meeting Dorothea. In short, she is an interesting teacher with interesting ideas, methods, and very student focused. I don't think you will find a better teacher.
I offer one-on-one songwriting consultation for students interested in writing their own material. All aspects of the craft of songwriting in contemporary styles from melody, lyrics, chord progression, harmonies, instrumentation/production ideas, commercial sensibilities, genre, etc.
I'm Darci Monet and I would love nothing more than to sing with you! I've been a professional vocalist since I was 15 and have studied voice with some of the country's best teachers since I was 16 (and let's just say that was a hot minute ago!). I've been coaching singers for a living since at least 2001 (on and off long before that, really). I just might be the best kept secret in Los Angeles because I keep my roster small in order to maintain focus on each individual singer and keep things exciting and fresh at all times. You won't catch me "phoning it in" with my singers. I love what I do and maintaining a smaller, select roster of committed artists helps me keep it that way! 😁
My down-to-earth attitude (I'm originally an east coaster!) and cozy but open environment will make you feel at home and at ease

I have been taking lessons with Darci for quite awhile now. She is a fantastic coach and has helped me expand my vocal capabilities, making me feel more confident in any performance or audition situation. I have a strictly Musical Theatre/Classical background and with her help, I can know comfortably sing many different styles of music.
What really makes Darci stand out as an instructor is the environment she creates. She is nurturing without pandering, supportive while being straight forward. That type of honest, thoughtful coaching is hard to come by in a city like Los Angeles. She is truly unique in a city full of cookie cutters. I would not want to learn from anyone else!

Whether it's a keyboard, or a computer. If you want to know what all those knobs do, ask me. Sure you can experiment. But There are a handful of knobs and buttons (ADSR/ Filter/ Envelope/LFO etc.) that are the same, across the gamut. That fundamental knowledge makes it possible to control every sound, and create them from scratch, into anything you imagine! If you don't understand what "MIDI" means, or "ADSR", I can teach you in a few short lessons. Knowledge is power.

If you are ready to take your music skills SERIOUSLY then stop wasting time and money on teachers who don't fully understand what they are teaching. My name is Russell Steedle and I have been playing guitar professionally for 19 years and engineering and producing records for over 10. I have worked with artists such as Sean Kingston, Lifehouse, Disney's Caityln Taylor Love and have composed music to 100s of your favorite TV shows! Want to learn to record? produce? write? dive into theory?
In 2012, Russ inked a deal with Mach 1 Music and learned the rough ropes of the music industry as a part of a team selling over 19 million records worldwide. Soon after, Russ joined TV/Filmsound powerhouse “Signature Tracks” (signature-tracks.com) through which he has produced over 550 songs for networks such as Disney, MTV, VH1, BET, ABC, NBC, CBS, and many many more

He is also active in the industry, so the skills he teaches are current.
I take lessons with Russ online through Skype for EDM production in FL Studio. He is always punctual and promptly communicates if anything comes up. His teaching style carefully balances the need to provide guidance, while allowing freedom for individual artistic development. Every week, I start a composition or track analysis project that applies what I've learned in previous lessons, and I will submit it to Russ to discuss things that went well and things to work on in the future. In this way, you are not just being lectured, but you are actually learning to collaborate with an exceptional musician. I've personally experienced how constant application and feedback facilitates rapid learning.
He certainly is a serious musician, but that doesn't mean he doesn't have a fun personality. He is engaging and inspirational.
I would, without reservation nor hesitation, highly recommend Russ to anyone who is interested in professional music production.
