Music has been my passion since I was 10 years old. I didn't have any real instruments at first, so, I built my own out of coffee cans, ice cream containers and of course: a rubber band shoebox guitar! It might sound funny, but, I believe these early days of trying to create music using my "homemade symphony," forced me to really get to the core of sound and expression without the pre-set curriculum of traditional music study. Early on, I learned a few fundamental concepts of music theory that would forever change how I learned, as well as how I taught music to others. I believe these concepts set a foundation that allowed me to understand music and grow much faster - including learning multiple instruments.

And yes, I eventually acquired a real guitar and went on to study music and computers at the University of California and I currently compose music for TV and film in my own studio. I have taught guitar, bass, piano, drums, theory, composition and recording production to ...

About Peter

I currently compose music for TV, film and other digital media in my own recording studio. Prior to that, I spent about 25 years playing guitar, piano, bass and drums in bands and as a studio musician. At school I studied classical music (theory and composition) as well as orchestration and compute

I just started my second year of guitar lessons with Peter and I’m learning so much! Peter is a great teacher who is patient, encouraging and a great listener. He can “hear” the areas that I need to work on, and is able to clearly communicate ways for me to improve . He has helped me get better at my rhythm, my strumming, tempo and even an introduction to music theory. I’m now playing (and singing) some of my favorite songs! Highly recommend!

I understand it's easy to lose drive when you're constantly drilling scales and fingering. I try to frame all of my lessons in reference to what music really is: the creation of songs. Through composition, my students won't just learn scale and chord structure, but they'll organically develop these skills while writing their own songs and building their personal portfolio.

About Peter

Over the past 10 years, I've worked as a professional touring musician (singer, guitarist, pianist) for the rock band, Inside Switch. I studied piano at the Dallas, Texas School of Music. I also attended the James Madison University music program. I have played piano for 20 years and guitar for 15.

What I Learned From Peter.

- THE METRONOME IS SO IMPORTANT
- The voice guides the guitar if you’re more of a singer
- Repetition is key
- Practice songs that aren’t in your style to ease your way into guitar
- The power resides in strumming rhythmically
- Focus is more difficult that it seems when combining singing and guitar
- Guitar is an art in itself and itself you shouldn’t master guitar, you should be it’s friend.
- Open mics and video content are the key to more success as they expose you to criticism (good or bad)
Again, the guitar is your companion.

For any aspiring musician or any musician that needs guidance and improvement on the guitar, Peter is a great teacher.

Peter is very patient and great teaching my 9yr old son. We take father and son lessons together which has been amazing. Peter is naturally talented and plays many other instruments all in from his home studio. He is also extremely flexible and accommodating. Highly recommended!

Every musician was first and foremost a fan of music. My love of music began when my mother took me to a performance of Beethoven's fifth symphony when, coincidentally, I was five. From that point, I started fervently listening to my mother's records (those are the huge, black monstrosities t

A lot of fun to work with and really knows his stuff. I'm more of a self-learner that needs gentle guidance and inspiration, rather than full-on instruction. Trevor responded perfectly to my needs and learning style and i'm having a great time, improving my guitar playing in the process. Can recommend fullheartedly for intermediate rock guitar players.

"JP is a phenomenal teacher/instructor and a musician himself. Has an amazing ear to grab any gtr riff, lick, or phrasing you want from any song you want to learn. He breaks down the theory into sections and steps, making it super easy to learn at your level and pace. He showed me how to find new chords within my progressions so I didn’t have to chase them up & down the neck of the guitar. Totally helped give me more confidence in my performance on stage. I highly recommend him to anyone at any level!"

"He's the best. Really easy going and nice guy. His wife even makes cookies for each lesson. As a beginner, Jim has streamlined and accelerated my learning ten fold since self teaching myself online. For references he gives you all the materials you need such as the music sheets he makes to form a lesson. They're very concise and easy to follow. I have bar chord sheet he made that's by far the best reference for those chords that I've seen.
It's really a fun experience and he takes joy in helping his students learn. Highly recommended."

"Awesome Music Teacher!!

I have been taking Guitar and Ukulele lessons from Eric for over a year and a half and couldn't be happier! I am an adult student with a very busy and at times hectic life. I started taking guitar lessons with Eric as a way to relax and learn music which I love. I received a set of lessons as a birthday gift, I have truly enjoyed the lessons and Eric's teaching style ever since.

Eric has a calm demeanor and is very knowledgeable in his craft. He is patient beyond his years and is very focused and in tuned with his students. I find myself getting better with every practice and lesson due to Eric's teaching ability. He knows how to motivate and bring out the hidden talents in his students, which is extremely impressive.

Eric teaches in a comfortable and non-threatening environment. He is calm, confident and patient with his students. He understands that each student is an individual and makes the needed adjustments that benefit that student. It's obvious that Eric loves what he does and it shows in his teaching and attitude. He is upbeat and positive which makes learning from him very easy.

I have spent most of my adult life as a trainer/instructor. Eric is a great example of a teacher who knows what he is doing and cares about the progress of the student. Eric is the ideal teacher if you are interested in learning and appreciate music."

"Keith is very knowledgeable, patient and methodical. By letting me play a few notes and asking a few questions, he already knew where I should start and had the whole study plan figured out. His lessons are very productive but not in an overwhelming way. After two classes, I actually already feel I've improved significantly. I'm getting more and more comfortable playing to musical notes, which I tried to teach myself several times but all failed. I finally feel I'm on the right track!"

Cameron is great at tailoring the lessons to my musical taste without compromising the theory, basics and fundamentals.
I have been taking lessons for one year and will not go elsewhere anytime soon. His vast musical knowledge helps merge the theory with concrete examples. No question remains unanswered."

How to Play Slide Guitar (A Step-By-Step Guide for Beginners)
