I've been teaching guitar for over four years. I've previously been a part of two bands during my formative years and recently have been a session guitar player for four upcoming indie rock, alternative, and R&B/Soul albums.
For children and beginners, I use the Mel Bay publication Children's Guitar Chord Book as well as Hal Leonard's Guitar Method series. I also apply basic music theory that includes learning the Circle of Fifths and basic reading of sheet music.

For intermediate guitar players, I utilize the Hal Leonard Guitar Method series to teach Power Chord Formation and Delivery, Fingerpicking, Pentatonic Scales, Reading Tabulature, and tackling some of classic rock and jazz's favorite tunes.

For guitar lessons at my studio, I leverage Guitar Pro to project and display tabs and play-alongs with ease. For in-home lessons, I use the software for select lessons as we begin song selection and play-alongs.

I can't wait to rock out with you as you find your inner ...

About Milton
Hey there, everyone!

My name is Milton Carl Jackson II and I teach vocal, guitar, piano, and musical theatre lessons in the Inland Empire area.

I help those young, middle-aged, and not-as-young tap into their own soul through music so that they may help others find theirs as well. I believe that in order to entertain others with your voice or your instrument, one must first be able to entertain oneself - all the while having fun doing it! As a recent graduate of the University of California, Davis with a double major in Music History & Ethnomusicology and African-American & African Stud
ies; a former co-host of the popular hip-hop radio show ATF Radio: All Things Fresh on KDVS 90.3 FM; a former Music Director of The Afterglow of UC Davis; and a recently graduate of the University of Redlands with a Master's in Music Education, I have come in contact and learned from a vast amount of different musicians and professionals. A classically-trained bass-baritone with roots in R&B, Soul, Rock, Pop, and Jazz, I have aspirations to help each and every student realize their full musical potential.

If you're looking for a teacher who will motivate and inspire you not only to learn your instrument of choice, but also how to perform it (whether on the big stage or in your living room for the family) and record it as well, I'm the perfect teacher for you. Learning to sing, play, and act beautifully doesn't have to be difficult -- we'll work on finding your voice or your style, all while having fun along the way!

I teach in-studio, in-home, and online lessons, so we can be flexible with the lesson type and schedule!

This is a perfect chance for you or your child who can't stop singing around the house or has dreams of shredding on the guitar or twinkling on the ivories to learn the fundamentals of music, start something new that keeps them or you focused, and have fun while doing it!

Feel free to contact me at show contact info for any questions and check out my student reviews and qualifications.

I look forward to meeting you and accompanying you or your child on your musical journey!!

I don't have another instructor to compare, and this was only the first lesson, but he seems to meet all of the qualifications I am looking for. He was patient and created a calm environment. I am looking forward to continuing my learning with him.

My son was close to giving up on piano because he was struggling with dynamics. Rather than quit piano, we decided to try switching to a new teacher. My son started lessons with Milton a year ago and is now enjoying piano again. In working with Milton, my son realized that his former teacher did not cover music theory and felt lost at times during the lessons. We brought this to Milton's attention, and Milton made the necessary adjustments to keep my son feeling good about the lessons.

Here is some information on what you can expect if you decide to take lessons with me:

You will start learning songs and play along with them within 3-5 lessons. After 3 months you will have knowledge of the basics. At the 6 month mark you will start to get comfortable with your instrument and after a year you will have built a solid foundation on which you can expand into any musical direction of your choice.

I teach beginner to advanced depending on the instrument, and ages 9 and up are welcome! My customized lessons are based on the student's abilities. Lessons can be held at your home in the vicinity of Mission Viejo. Learn songs and music theory, melodies, harmonizing, rhythm, syncopation, solfege, songwriting, arrangement, reading and writing music notation. I can also help you with singing and recording your songs. If you wish, I can also teach your lessons in German or French.

Music styles: Rock, Pop, Folk, Latin, Jazz, Swing, Reggae, Funk, and much more.

Teaching style: I like to use humor to make the learning experience enjoyable. I adjust to the student's learning speed. My philosophy when it comes to teaching and music: Everyone can learn an instrument and enjoy that knowledge for the rest of their life!

Guitar (for example): Always work with books. Teach simple chords, rhythms and songs at first. Then move to more difficult chords and songs, and TAB reading. Then I keep increasing the level of difficulty as the student progresses. Then start teaching sight reading with standard music notation. When practicing songs, we play along to music. Similar teaching style for other instruments.

I specialize in intermediate and advanced students. I can help you prepare for music school or your next big gig!

About Blake
Biography:

You need to be taught with the right combination of head and heart. Technique is great, but without feel it's nothing. Virtuosity is great, but without groove it's nothing. Music theory is great, but without soul it's nothing…

National Recording Artist & Guitarist for MadTV - BLAKE A., w 5 Billboard Top 10 hits & played w Santana, Gap Band, Phillip Bailey, Sheila E. can give you the tools to follow YOUR DREAM! Online from anywhere or in So Cal.

Those who CAN do CAN also teach...

Named "a genius on the guitar" by the Los Angeles Times, Blake has recorded and/ or perform
ed with such artists as Philip Bailey (Earth Wind and Fire), Sheila E., Frank Stallone, Bobby Womack and Carlos Santana (Womack-Save the Children), The Gap Band, David Pack (Ambrosia), Jimmy Pankow (Chicago), Lakeside, Dynasty, The Drifters, The Coasters, Tommy Walker, Little Anthony and the Imperials, Joe Houston, Mary Wells, Billy Bass and Bernie Worell (The Funkadellics), Fish (Fishbone), producer Bill Laswell, producer Michael Lloyd, Keiko Matsui, Hiroshima, David Benoit, Najee, Eric Marienthal, Ricky Lawson, Nelson Rangell, Marion Meadows, Steve Reid's Bamboo Forest, Kuh LaDesma, and Gloria Trevi.

Blake A., has also been the guitarist and/or composed for such television shows and films as “Real Music Live” (NBC), "MAD TV" (FOX) where Blake was the show's guitarist for 14 years and co-composed the show's latest theme, Steven Seagal's "Half Past Dead 2," "Super Dave Osborne" (Spike TV) and also co-composed the show's latest theme, Chocolate News" (Comedy Central), "The Next Best Thing" (ABC), "The Starlet" (w/Faye Dunaway) (UPN), "10-8" (ABC), "The Jamie Kennedy Experiment" (WB), "Gary and Mike" (UPN), "The Ben Stiller Show" (FOX), "Sunday Night Comics" (FOX)

**SO....why does any of the above mean anything at all? Because I can cut through the "fluff" and teach you in a very straightforward and easy to understand method what it really takes to get out there and follow your dream!

You need to be taught with the right combination of head and heart. Technique is great, but without feel it's nothing. Virtuosity is great, but without groove it's nothing. Music theory is great, but without soul it's nothing.

No successful artist has ever made it on technique, virtuosity, and theory alone. They ALL, without exception, also have the feel, groove, and soul.

You can learn it, you just have to be exposed to it...a lot, and it's never too late.

I took guitar lessons from Blake for a couple of years as well as having the privilege of playing with him at my local church. First, Blake is a preeminent guitarist. I mean, he is a world class jazz guitarist and composer. Taking lessons from him was a great experience. He is patient and took time to make sure that I understood what he was teaching. The lessons were a nice mix of theory and actual playing. Lastly, I enjoyed how he let me choose what songs we would use for skills practice. If you want to learn Black Dog, he will use that to teach finger dexterity, time signatures, and dynamics! He's simply the best.

I took lessons from Blake several years ago, and was a very demanding student. I already knew how to read music and was schooled in playing other instruments. I was an intermediate guitar player that wanted to be able to sight read/play guitar music, and learn enough licks and blues/rock structure/theory to allow me to improvise guitar solos.
Blake took the time to understand my guitar playing objectives, and tailored lesson plans/assignments to help me achieve them. His music knowledge and guitar playing mastery enables him to teach any playing style or music genre. He can teach songs, chords, leads/licks, tab, reading music, music theory, etc. He truly enjoys the process of helping students succeed, and expanding their love of music. He also makes learning fun! Thanks Blake!

My lesson experience with Blake Aaron has spanned many years and has included more than just guitar! Aside from being a chart-topping Jazz virtuoso on the guitar he is incredible with teaching and demonstrating many many styles of music.

I love music theory as it applies to many instruments and Blake is truly a master. I've worked with him on total arrangements of songs (including entire horn sections !! ) and he is FANTASTIC!

Blake is a Guitarist and a TOTAL Musician...you'll be AMAZED that one person can know all that he does !!!

I have been teaching guitar for almost twenty years and have been playing for almost twenty three. It is by far one of my favorite things in life...and I love passing my knowledge and expertise onto others!

About Joe
I absolutely love teaching music! After over 20 years of teaching, performing, writing, and recording in all styles/genres, it continues to be a great adventure. It is a joy to pass this on to others...especially seeing my students that never touched the instrument going on to be very proficient players.

I take teaching seriously, but definitely try to make it enjoyable for the student. I studied classical guitar in college, but was playing everything from Van Halen to Jazz to Country & Blues before that. Currently, I'd consider myself a flat out musical mutt...enjoying anything and eve
rything. The love of guitar has also expanded to a multitude of instruments that I record, gig, & teach with.

Each lesson is designed on the level of the student's ability from beginner to advanced. Rock, R&B, funk, jazz, blues, POP and country music. I like to use song learning as a vehicle to sharpen your skills. Learning skills through songs is more fun for beginners. More advanced students will work on everything from theory, reading, harmony; and how you can use scales and arpeggios in a number of ways over several different styles of music.

About Stephen
I've teaching and performing professionally for 18 years.
I've studied with some of the top teachers in California:
- Jim Fagen (classical guitar)
- Erik Halbig (rock, jazz & country)
