About Clifford
'Dr. Cliff,' a part-time college/university professor, teacher and tutor with 5 master's and 3 doctoral degrees in a variety of topics: Mathematics, Computer Information Systems, Computer Science, Management Information Systems, MBA, Leadership, Education and Administration. He has always used proven educational techniques to instruct undergraduate students, graduate students and school children/teenagers (K-12). In addition, Dr. Cliff is a Certified Tutor by American Tutoring Association and National Tutoring Association (Math); he holds California Teaching Credentials in Math (CSET I,II,III), Business (I,II,III), and Educational Technology/Computers (I,II); he is a Sylvan Certified Teacher in Math and Arts/Language K-12.

Dr. Cliff believes that, although many professors and teachers do an admirable job in the classroom, many students
and children do not learn well in traditional institutions. Many students and children don't respond to the assembly line nature of most institutions. He believes that a student's or child's strengths and natural abilities need to be the foundation of learning. Dr. Cliff often warns against a "cookie cutter" approach to educating students, teenagers and children. You or your child is seen as an individual, and natural strengths are identified and built upon. Therefore, individual one-on-one tutoring or help is the key approach to each student who has any challenges difficulties in a given subject.

In today’s environment and economic challenges, with shorter budgets for the education, larger classes sizes and pressure of performing well in all kind of standard tests, I often see many students lacking true knowledge and skills in a given subject, since they cannot get individualized attention during the class session. That’s where a tutor comes into the picture, not only uncover major “holes” in students’ knowledge set but also teach students how to study, how to learn and through proper guidance “fill” those knowledge and skills holes.

I have 5-7 years experience teaching English at public and private educational settings, including college, university, and library. My specialization is in American English accent reduction for non-native speakers. I use multi-media teaching strategies.

About Erol
***AREAS NORTH OF CENTRAL SANTA CLARITA ARE DIFFICULT TO SERVICE PHYSICALLY/ ADDRESSES WITHIN REMOTE AREAS (no public transit or bicycle access) DIFFICULT TO SERVICE PHYSICALLY***

My style and attitude toward teaching tends to be conversational, reflective, and interactive, along the lines of current research on effective education. I have developed a talent with certain creative arts, such as imaginative writing and electronic music production; as a result, I am computer literate, capable of assisting with computer assembly, maintenance, and design, as well as productivity software. Due to my limited funds, I do not have direct experience with the Adobe suite, but I have extensive knowledge of related, free distributions that are transferable. I also have formal education in the field of English, innovative leadership, and Education.
My current level is ABD in a PhD program that is thus nearing completion. I am member of the Association for Language Learning, located in Leicester, UK.
My most popular subjects are as follows:

American-English Pronunciation Practice for ESL (AEPP-ESL):
*****Each Online Lesson with Free Video & MP3 Recording*****

Carefully following Burkkowsky's (1969) multi-media method, I have taught this subject for over five years for public and private causes, such as library, individuals, and language schools. My emphasis for pronunciation is a scientific, comprehensive overview and treatment of the various sounds, rhythms, inflections, and patterns the spoken language integrates. I encourage practicing and mastering both the sounds themselves, as well as how the sounds are connected and contextualized. I use contemporary sound recording and .wav editing software to involve audio feedback and self-monitoring.

Sources: Burkkowsky, Mitchess (1969) Teaching American Pronunciation to Foreign Students. New York: Warren Green, 1969.

German Language and Culture:
*****Each Online Lesson with Free Video & MP3 Recording*****

I have grown up bilingual English and German, attending an international school from a very young age. I attended, also, a German public secondary school, where I earned a diploma, and I completed college-level German credits. I taught German in the language lab of a community college, for special needs students, and for private agencies, such as Tutor Doctor. My emphasis is on a comparative introduction of the language to draw out a common ground and familiarize possibly daunting differences. I also enjoy asserting that German is often underestimated as a rewarding second language to study.

Microsoft Excel:
***It is recommended students own or have regular access to a personal computer after 2002 in order to get the best benefit***

This spreadsheet and data management software program is of crucial, pivotal importance in any business and financial environment. The program enables efficient and prompt development of arithmetic and statistical calculations of vast data sets. It also helps to visualize and juxtapose related or even discrepant variables. My approach to teaching the program is cumulative and holistic, starting with an introduction to personal inventory management to the processing of large data sets using pivot tables, charts, and dashboards. My emphasis is on making the program as intelligible and transparent as possible to avoid frustration and intimidation. I use a lot of examples and visuals that are readily available.

Typing:
***It is recommended students own or have regular access to a personal computer after 2002 in order to get the best benefit***

I teach the touch-typing method that is the convention for most journalistic and input-intensive organizational settings. I teach the home row, proper finger and hand positions, proficiency with left and right hands, as well as posture and concentration methods. I enrich the teaching with resources from the web, such as speed-building and error reduction.

I know English is challenging especially to those who don't speak it at all, or have it as a secondary language. I am here to help you learn the ropes. Not only write or speak English, but even use it in everyday conversation. I might be young, but I have plenty of experience teaching people who don't speak English proficiently, especially since they came from another country. Let me tell you though. Anybody can become good at English, and from my former students. They would choose me over professional English tutors or Professors, because unlike them I do not tell you, you have to learn like a pro or change your accent. If these people can become pros at English. Why not you too? One thing every fluent English speaker will never tell you is that they began speaking at a beginner's level just like you. If they can do it I'm sure you can too. Once again I am Danschnieder, call me Dan for short and hope to see you all.

About Danschnieder
Hello my name is Danschneider. I cannot wait to meet all of you. I have been teaching chess, singing, English, algebra, and basic Math since 2002. I am more than happy to teach in-home, or in-studio to anyone. I have been a martial arts practitioner since the age 15, in different martial arts reigning from Hung Gar kung fu, Karate, and my specialty the Filipino martial art of Eskrima. I have years of experience teaching drawing from basic line drawing, to shading, coloring, etc.. I write my own original poems. I have been working with two non- profit groups such as KIWANIS and S.I.P.A. Under KIWANIS I became more in tuned with different kinds of people.I'm also very good with the children and teens. S.I.P.A. was a program where I worked with children from ages 6-12. I might not be a parent, but I know how to keep the kids enthusiastic and
cheerful . I am willing to teach and work with anyone.

I've taught ESL to many students, varying from people who could barely say "hello" to those who were just trying to get the past perfect continuous tense right. I love it.

About Michelle
Hi! I'm Michelle, a world traveler/teacher who's here to help bring her experience and energy to students back home in California. I've taught various subjects such as test prep, English, history, and languages to students all over the world, such as China, France, and Ecuador. I've worked with students of all ages and love getting to know them to help figure out how they best learn.

I love learning languages in my spare time and practicing when I can. When I'm not looking a bit silly doing that, I'm usually reading, at a baseball game, or hanging out with friends. I keep active, making sure to run or play a sport when I can. However, it's equally as strong as my love for foods of all kinds.

I really look forward to getting to work with you and helping you with whatever I can!

My background as a teacher of ESL is extensive. I taught technical English to engineering students at the university (MEPhI) for 8 years. Additionally I have been preparing Russian students for the English State Exam at school and adults for business and private trips to English speaking countries.
As a philologist I am able to pinpoint individual issues and difficulties to help correct problems in language acquisition.

About Tatiana
I am a former German professor from Russia who currently lives in America and tutors full time now Russian and German.

I provide a variety of activities for my lessons so you will never get bored. For example, I will use games, interactive conversational lessons, fun warm up tasks, case studies, and even riddles. We will use authentic materials as well. You will learn conversational skills, formal writing skills, and test taking strategies all in a fun manner.

I have a background as as an experienced lecturer, teacher, and tutor in the field of linguistics (general linguistics, history of linguistics, psycolinguistics, social linguistics, gender studies). Since defending my dissertation, I have continued to do research in gender studies in the field of virtual communication and digital text, especially non-verbal communication, soci
al networks and gender-specific communication. However, I have found that my true passion is helping students in one-on-one lessons.

Teaching ESL for several years now I've learned (as a teacher) that learning another language should not be boring but it does take time and daily practice. So, I like to focus on the student's specific needs and interests not to everyone! {:

About Alexandra
Greetings!, Hello!, Hi!, Hey!

I've been teaching English and ESL since 2000 and taught all ages from kids to adults. Two incredible experiences were teaching in Eritrea, E. Africa and Guatemala, C. America. Not only do I enjoy making grammar and conversation accessible to all students, but my goal is to help students to become fluent and obtain the skills to have both professional and social conversations.

Most importantly, I love teaching and helping students get on their own path of "the love of learning"!

ESL is a matter of sharing life lessons. Students already possess their own special talents and are full of life experiences from their L1 learnings. I will teach English as an L2 tool by sharing my life experiences, thereby making your life that much richer in language. In this day and age with texting and digital communication, the "Art of Communication" has been lost. My desire is to enthusiastically share my experiences in this lost art. Coming out of my lessons, students will have the confidence in their ability to express themselves comfortably within the American culture.

About John
Hi, my name is John Kim, and I am an experienced native American English teacher. I am a retired US Army Lieutenant Colonel with American diplomatic certifications in Japan and Korea. I have taught myself to be proficient in 5 languages. I taught Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced TOEFL English levels formally in school classrooms of 10-17 students. And of course, 1-on-1 private lessons also. You know that the four dreaded skills: reading, writing, listening, and speaking are required in English schools, and you have already heard it over and over in your previous school lessons. Now, let me show you and share with you a different level of learning...called the "Art of Communication".
