I have always loved singing! I sang everywhere I went, was in the choir at church and even lead our worship team during Sunday mornings. I have continued to sing and it has helped me with my other instrumental playing. I play the piano which helps with the accompaniment of singers. I have had a few singing students and we have had nothing short of a good time together! We will learn music together and have you singing your favorite songs like a champ in no time!

About Beckie
Hi!
My name is Beckie and I have played music for all of my life. I play and teach many different instruments such as the French horn, trumpet, piano, saxophone, mandolin, guitar, and voice.

In 2017, I graduated from UCLA with my Masters in Music on French horn. In 2010, I graduated from Chapman University with two degrees in music- music performance on French horn and music education.

My first job was as at a Montessori Academy elementary school, where I was the brass coach for 3 years. This is where I fell in love with teaching. I have been teaching privately for 15 years now and love the one-on-one attention that I can give the students.

I have worked with many great organizations like the Los Angeles Philharmonic and various music studios around Los Angeles.

I currently am a freelance musician, Elementary school music
teacher, brass coach for two local high schools and a private music teacher! I perform with orchestras and groups all around the Los Angeles area. I have performed in such wonderful venues as the Walt Disney Concert Hall and the Sydney Opera house, in which I was able to premier a piece!

I look forward to working with you or your child in helping to start or continue a musical instrument!

*** Lesson Details ***
When I teach lessons, I like to check in with the student to see how their day was and how practicing throughout the week went. I am very patient and will teach at the student's pace. I expect the student to practice during the week, even if for just 10 minutes a day. I will always work with a student as long as it takes to have them understand what is difficult for them musically.

For music, I try to find free options but books may be a better option. When we choose a book to play out of, I like to choose a book together so that the parent and the child are happy about the selection. Books vary based on what the needs are for each student. Books are to be purchased by the parent.

I usually play my instruments with the students, but being a freelance musician, I may need to save my chops for an upcoming gig. Not always, but happens from time to time :)

I also have a 24-hour cancellation/lesson change policy. If you are late for your lesson, I will try to accommodate the time but may have students or rehearsals afterward so it will not always be a guarantee. If you are going to be late, please text me BEFORE the scheduled lesson. Lessons are to be every week as I DO NOT teach bi-weekly lessons.

*** Studio Equipment ***
Lesson space is in my home w/ seating for parents and music stand for students. I also have a cat and a dog, so if you are allergic, please let me know! The dog and the cat are put away for the lessons as to not distract either one of us! They are pretty cute!

*** Travel Equipment ***
I expect the student to provide the music books and their own instruments and music stand.

*** Specialties ***
I specialize in classical genres of playing but I am able to teach all different styles of music.

Outstanding instructor! Beckie is very positive and encouraging and my son has learned so much in just a few weeks. My son looks forward to his session each week. She is also an amazing musician herself and plays her instrument side by side with my son which allows him to hear and learn the individual notes.

While the lessons are fun and enjoyable, the serious student will be supported in the development of skills leading to a rewarding career. And the more casual students will grow in an appreciation of music that will always enrich their lives.

I begin each voice lesson with a warm-up to prepare the student for their session. Next, we do a series of exercises specially designed to help each individual develop their skill in a way that best fits them. We then work on a piece of their choice for the remainder of the lesson, perfecting their technique and helping them become performance ready. I am proud to share my student's vast array of musical successes. From being cast on short anime films and musicals to being accepted into prestigious performing arts academies to conquering the Karaoke scene. My passion for multiple languages and love of music is the desire driving me to share the gifts for teaching young children to open the door to their own musical abilities an
d hidden artistic desires. I am currently writing a musical which will be debuting in 2020. I'm currently the vocal coach/Trainer and choir director at Iglesia Elim Central.

I do my absolute best to create a positive atmosphere for my students. Even when the students feel frustrated or stressed, it is important to inspire them and give them the fuel that they need. Though I am strict when it comes to homework and their about their studies. Every lesson at the beginning I will review what we learned previously and test them.
then begin with proper breathing technique exercises, the cornerstone of all vocals. We move on to vocal exercises to condition the voice. Then we work on the songs that you are eager to sing!

I will use a piano when doing vocal warm ups and conditioning exercises. Students that play other instruments and accompany themselves when performing (such as a guitar) are encouraged to bring that instrument to their lessons. My goal is for them to gain the knowledge that they need to help reach their artistic goals.
With all my lessons every student will be taught a basic run down of Music Theory. My students will always progress in what they do. They will have the discipline that they need and yet have fun and be filled with inspiration. Which is the most important thing, to be Inspired to do better.

Brad is among the best voice coaches today. Using techniques honed through his extensive experience along with his trained ear, he helped me get back what I thought was lost forever. He's not just a great coach, but one who knows what is good therapy for the voice. Brutally honest, Brad doesn't sugar-coat ... he is helping you as the performer be the absolute best, and being honest is what we all need when training. Brad delivers results as long as you put in the work. He also helps you to learn the difference between singing and yelling ... there's a difference! I could not be more blessed to have reconnected with Brad. He is a master of his craft!

My daughter was extremely nervous before the start of her first class. Thanks to Stephanie's great personality, she was comfortable and interacting within seconds. She can't wait for her next class!

Stephanie is the best. I’ve only had lessons with her for a month. She is very knowledgeable but also kind and fun; she makes you want to work hard and you see results right away if you work hard, which I really like. She goes out of her way to help you understand the material and supplement with additional material if you don’t understand. Highly recommend her, don’t think twice.

As an artist, I want to help you discover your true authentic voice. I'm a vocal performance Berklee College of Music graduate, and former top 20 contestant on NBC's The Voice. I believe, as artists we crave real life advice and experience and I want to offer just that. I've been working as a professional session vocalist, songwriter and performing weekly with live bands all over Los Angeles. I believe the voice is a very strong, resilient muscle but must be taken care of with daily practice.

About Greylyn
I am a professional singer/song-writer. I graduated from Berklee College of Music with a focus in Vocal Performance. Over the last ten years, I have been performing all over Los Angeles, Boston, Florida and even Hawaii.

In 2013 I was an artist on NBC's "The Voice" making it to the top 20 on Adam Levine's team. Soon after the show, I relocated to Los Angeles where I now work full time in music. I work with some of LA's largest entertainment companies, gigging all over California. I also work in Artist development, session work and songwriting for other artists.
I have a strong foundation in vocal technique. I believe in building (or re-building) a healthy foundation of good technique to avoid developing bad habits that could potentially hurt the voice or hinder growth.

My voice students should expect to grow with each lesson. I believ
e ridding the body of tension so that the voice can be free is key. Through teaching healthy habits and technique I believe any singer can uncover their authentic voice. Aside from technical singing, I'm even more interested in you connecting to the song and telling the story in a meaningful, powerful way.

I have a wide variety of genres that I work with. I have a particular passion for soul/r&b and pop but I grew up singing everything from country to jazz. I believe that I can help any singer establish good technique, no matter the style.

I look forward to working with you and making you an better singer!

Greylyn makes you feel super comfortable in her lessons. She uses analogies and physical movements to help you understand what’s going on inside the body.
