My teaching philosophy is that students learn best when they are having fun! All lessons are designed with each individual student's goals and interests in mind, so if an approach isn't working, we switch things up. With over 15 years of experience teaching students age 3 to adult through a variety of methods, I can find something that works for the casual learner and AP/college prep student alike.

Styles: Classical, Popular, Church/Religious

Sorry but I'm using my wife's account to post this review...but SERIOUSLY 5 stars!!In just a few short months, Ahmad was able to systematically undo all my self-taught bad habits and incomplete YouTube tutorial learnings of the past and set me on the correct playing/learning path. A path I intend to stay on with Ahmad for a long time. I've "played" guitar for many years (on and off) and it wasn't until my wife gave me a 4-lesson gift certificate with Ahmad almost year ago that I REALLY started to learn the instrument I love. If you are contemplating starting your guitar journey, do not hesitate for a minute longer and contact Ahmad to get started.
He has a way of simplifying the concepts and providing the needed context to eliminate the "intimidation factor" of learning. Combined that with on-going encouragement, a plan customized to you and consistent positive reinforcement, Ahmad is able to maximize your enthusiasm and motivation for learning...I only wish that I would have started years earlier.
I'm having a blast, thanks to Ahmad!

Ahmad is an excellent guitar teacher. He's a very experienced and dedicated teacher that will no doubt improve your level of play.

I recently relocated to Bay Area after happily taking guitar lessons in CT (where I went from absolute beginner to campfire strummer). So the bar was set high for finding a new teacher and, like you, I started reading numerous reviews. Every one of Ahmad's reviews were extremely positive from all levels of students. In addition, his experience (30+ years of teaching) and education (Guitar Institute) were top notch.

So I decided to take a lesson with Ahmad and couldn't be happier right now. From the first lesson Ahmad was able to quickly assess where my level of play was and jump right in. Ahmad focused on teaching good habits and guitar fundamentals, all while improving my timing.

He is very organized, and has thousands of handouts right at his fingertips (so no time is wasted writing down your lesson). He is very encouraging as you tackle new material, and also reads you well to know just the amount of new material that will appropriately challenge you. He will also create as many additional handouts as necessary to bring you to that next level.

And in a little over a year, Ahmad has indeed brought my guitar playing to a new level. His exercises made it fun to learn scales and the guitar fretboard, and I'm now able to identify keys and understand the intervals of a chord. So when improvising to a chord progression, this allows me to make the changes (ie playing the most melodic notes to transition from one chord to the next). Ahmad's teaching has also brought my rhythm and timing to a new level. I'm able to play more advanced rhythms with an even tighter timing. I'm quite pleased whenever I go back to an old song and see how much tighter the rhythm is now. I'm also very pleased how quickly I'm able to learn a new song or riff now (where some would have been too advanced for me only a year ago). His lessons will also improve your picking, ability to move up and down the guitar neck, hitting the desired strings and much more.

In addition, Ahmad if very nice and friendly, so it has been a pleasure to take lessons with him. I'm very excited to see where Ahmad takes my guitar playing as I continue lessons with him, and highly recommend him to anyone looking for a guitar teacher.

I have been meaning to write this review for a while. I have been coming to Ahmad for lessons for about 6 months. I have tried on two occasions to learn guitar from other instructors but quickly became frustrated and gave up. My time with Ahmad has been a completely different experience. He is a fantastic instructor and he focuses on building the fundamentals. Using a foreign language as an analogy, my other instructors started by just teaching me how to pronounce different phrases, without teaching what the individual words meant or how to modify the sentences. Ahmad starts by teaching the vocabulary and how to construct any sentence you want. He is very patient, sends you home with excellent lessons to practice, and once you get to the point where you simply need time to improve technique before you can advance any further, he switches to teaching basic music theory, so that you can continue to learn while you wait for your hands to catch up with your brain.

If you want to spend the least amount of money on guitar lessons, I would encourage you to go learn from some college kid, as you will spend $80 on one or two lessons and then just give up. If you want to actually learn how to play guitar, come see Ahmad.

The most fulfilling part of being a teacher is leaving your students feeling more capable and empowered than they were before. I'm not satisfied if you're not satisfied, so you can trust that I will bring my best to every lesson. I've been teaching piano in San Francisco for three years now (and teaching trumpet for 10+) and have my masters in music composition from San Francisco Conservatory of Music. I have specialized training in piano technique and pedagogy because of teaching at different professional studios throughout the bay area. I integrate movement and games to bring energy into each lesson and create memorable experiences for ages 5+.

I focus on training these aspects:
• Literacy (fluency in being able to read music)
• Skill-Building Mindset and Tools
• Music Theory
• Ear-Training
• Technique
• Music Appreciation
• Improvisation and composition

About Roxanne

I know my students can learn ANYTHING, and it's my job to guide them and inspire them in the most efficient and fun way I can. I have a versatile background as a trumpet playing composer who plays piano as well. I've played in almost every genre at one point or another as a professional trumpet pla

My son has looked forward to trumpet lessons since we began working with Roxanne. We've only experienced instruction via Zoom, yet we all feel he's learned quite a bit and he feels he has become a better trumpet player. As a parent, I appreciate her flexibility and clear communication. I have confidence in her teaching style and the apparent vision she has for this point in my son's musical journey.

Ms. Roxanne is a wonderful teacher with fun and inspiring tricks up her sleeve. She is able to captivate the imagination of young minds and help them achieve a consistent learning experience. I am so impressed by how effective her teaching methods are in keeping young restless minds interested in learning music. Roxanne's lessons are playful which is perfect for kids and adults alike. She creates fun musical games and creates funny stories and characters around musical concepts to help children remember. This is so much more fun than just plain memorizing! She even invents new games for individual children based on their own personal interests; recently she came up with a treasure hunt game in a young boy's backyard to help him learn about rhythm. Her YouTube channel keeps kids excited for the next lesson with creative and kid-friendly videos. She truly is an ingenious music teacher. I cannot recommend her enough to inspire you and your children in the way of music.

As an older, beginner student, now 72, I appreciate Davis’ teaching to my specific needs for the past three years. My need, or quirkiness, was to learn music theory because I had to know the history of music and circle of fifths in order to understand the mechanics of the piano while I was learning to play. As a retired ICU nurse, rationale matters! To me anyway. Plus it helped me to read and understand music much faster. He recommended the college level music theory course books and continues to oversee my work and reinforce understanding. He’s so patient! I told my husband that I’d follow my hairdresser anywhere, Now, I say that about my piano teacher! I started at his studio in Edmond, Oklahoma and now I’m remote learning in his new studio in Cincinnati, Ohio. Davis is irreplaceable.

Davis is a wonderful and talented instructor. He tailors lessons to fit the students needs and teaches with great passion and patience. My daughter has been taking piano lessons from him for almost three years and she enjoys every lesson with Davis. Greatly appreciate!
Monica
Davis has many special gifts, but best of all, he is patient. He shows compassion and gives kind thoughtful feedback to his students. He is flexible and let’s the students play the type of music they are interested in to help build confidence and that also encourages practice!

"Learning piano has been an amazing experience because Bill tries his best to pass his musical passion down to me. He doesn't take the boring route of learning piece by piece as many other teachers often do, but he focused strongly on musicality, style, and interpretation.

This makes practice and learning more engaging instead of becoming a mindless chore."
