I always cater my instruction method towards a student's specific needs. Beginners will usually progress through a series of books to help them improve performance technique and grasp the fundamentals of music theory. We then move on to practicing more focused repertoire, which may include anything from Bach and Beethoven to The Beatles and Ben Folds, depending on the student's interests. My goal is always to give the student a set of tools that will allow them to adapt to any style of music.

Since I first stepped foot in Los Angeles seven years ago, I've devoted myself to pursuing a career of musical passion and excellence. Learning music should be fun and exciting. Therefore, I cater my lessons to each individual student's needs and abilities. I primarily teach pop/modern piano, however I can teach classical as well. My lessons begin with the student picking out two or three songs they have always wanted to learn to play and we make those our goals for the season. If the student is a beginner, we take it slow and then build into what we think the goals should be for them.

Alina is great and knows how to customize the needs of old beginners like myself.
David
I can't recommend Alina enough. There are 'teachers' out there who are largely cheerleaders, offering lots of encouragement but not much advice or help. Alina is encouraging, for sure, but what I love about her is that she knows her stuff, helps you zero in on what you need to do to improve, and then helps you actually improve with great feedback and advice. Fantastic, I couldn't be happier, thank you Alina!

I would recommend Alina to any parent that is looking for Piano lessons for their kids or themselves.

"Randy currently teaches piano to our three school-aged boys. He makes lessons fun - so much so that he and my boys inspired me to take lessons myself. I took over ten years of classical piano lessons as a child, and earned a college scholarship to study piano performance. I walked away from it in part because I didn't want to endure the pursuit of perfection while playing someone else's music. I wanted to play my own songs, but had no idea how. I could master complex classical pieces, but was lost without sheet music. I stopped playing piano entirely for a while. Twenty years later, I am now a recovering classical pianist. I have the time and interest to learn a whole new form of music - jazz piano. Randy's guidance is supportive, intuitive, and collaborative. I enjoy lessons as much as my kids - and am playing again! Randy's classical training combined with the depth of his impressive professional experiences permit him to teach everyone just about anything - from our youngest son who is just learning the basics, to someone like me with a background in classical music theory. Thank you!"

"Dan is full of positive energy and full of musical knowledge. He is teaching my daughter Piano and voice. The skills she is learning are building her personal confidence. He is bringing her out of her shell and giving her confidence to be herself within her passion of music.

She has been in choir and learning Theory for 5 years and Dan is helping her understand the theory through his great music stories, use of the piano and practical application. I am so excited we found him and would highly recommend him for anyone I know."

"My 11 yr old daughter has worked with Jesse for three years. She has had lessons on piano, ukulele, bass, rock guitar, trumpet, trombone, voice and drums! This is a kid that loves exploring different instruments, and Jesse has been so flexible in having his teaching style meet up with her learning style. She has a great deal of fun learning from and jamming with him, but he also pushes her to stretch and grow as an overall musician (music theory, voice development, physical strength to support different instruments). As you learn songs, you acquire so much more than the song itself. We highly recommend Jesse!"

"Over a span of ten years of teaching music lessons, Cosette was one of my fastest-learning students. Cosette strives to do her very best in every piece she performs and this was evident. Cosette not only would come to lessons prepared; but also because she was always willing to try a new type of dynamic or articulation, or to think of a musical phrase in a new way that would make the passage stronger or more musical. This approach brought her to a high level of playing, quickly.

In addition to her assigned material, Cosette would often work on additional pieces for church, other functions, or just for enjoyment, and bring them to the lesson. I always like it when my students bring extra music like this to the lesson; it shows initiative and involvement with others around them. Cosette definitely enjoyed collaborating musically with her family and friends.

In my opinion, once study and learning has taken place, it is a musician’s duty to look beyond the mechanics and to serve others with their talent - which is something Cosette is already doing."
