I want students to excel the fastest they can on guitar. Though I know it is important to let students learn at their own pace, I will never cease to challenge them through difficult pieces or exercises. I will develop plans and keep track of progress so that students and I can stay organized and ensure the learning is fluent. I will direct lessons based on what the student wants to learn most and what genres of music they are interested in. I also change the structure of lessons based on how the student learns. The basics I want students to learn from my lessons are basic chords, fretboard knowledge and music theory, finger-picking styles, pick and strumming techniques, left-hand techniques, and most importantly I want to teach students how to listen. I will train students ears through ear training exercises and songs. I firmly believe the better the student’s ears can get, the better the musician they can be. Besides just teaching songs, I want students to understand the theory, ...

We are so happy that we finally found a trained musician to teach my 13 yo son. Now my husband and I are taking lessons from William also. I feel that I finally have found the key to open up my music talent! Lol. William is very dedicated teacher and musician. He is skillful and he knows exactly what his students can do to make progress. Our time with him is very productive. If you want your kids to enjoy learning guitar in an encouraging environment, William is a great instructor. His time is valuable and he makes it worth your time.

My son and husband are taking lessons from William. I am so pleased that we have found a true musician., they seem to learn a lot in a few short lessons. My son starts to teach me guitar. His method makes the lesson easy for me to learn. His enthusiasm makes learning fun and 20 minutes lesson tolerable. I start to like my son more! William has changed my boy after only 2 lessons!

Mrs. Esther has taught me piano over the past 9 years. Over those years, I was able to learn a lot about the innerworkings of the piano, both theory and playing. Mrs. Esther carefully taught me piano with both elegance and patience and created wonderful experiences through the community concerts that she holds. Her kindness reached me in times where I was overburdened with both the study of piano and my schoolwork. The 9 years of piano that I spent with her have been very rewarding and an experience that I will continue to cherish as I continue pianoing.

"Greg is an amazing person and instructor. Our son has been practicing, consistently, with him for a couple of years, and he loves playing more and more every week. Our son's first lesson with Greg was when he was around 3 years old. It was lots of fun. Then, when our son showed interest in really getting into playing, we came back to Greg. Our son's excitement about practicing with and studying under Greg appears to us to come from the joy in playing and variety of music that Greg brings in every session. We are constantly impressed at how much our son learns and enjoys the learning and enjoys having Greg as the instructor."

"Lana is my daughter's third (and hopefully last) piano teacher. Lana is the BEST instructor! She is loving (yet stern), positive, effective, and truly gets the best from her students.

My daughter has taken a keener interest in playing piano since being under Lana's tutelage (she has played for 7 years, this is her third year with Lana). Whether she's playing Beethoven, Chopin, John Legend or Joni Mitchell, Lana helps my daughter conquer her pieces with confidence and pride (once the pieces are learned).

We have had the old school, hard-core, drill sargeant type of teacher and the lackadaisical, low expectation and low output type of teacher. Lana is neither. Lana focuses on technique, reading music, musicality, presence, and instilling a love of music in her students. And she gets results. Not only has my daughter's skill level improved, her attitude toward piano has completely changed.

Any child would be lucky to have Lana as his/her teacher. We cannot recommend her highly enough!"

"I am a self-taught guitar player and played in a band for 3 years when I was in high school. I'm originally from Arizona and when I moved to San Jose I was looking to get back into playing guitar a bit more now that I was done with college. Except this time, I wanted more formal training. I had homework to do every week, which was awesome because it gave me an excuse to jam out on my guitar more often. Even though I had been playing guitar for years, the lessons were very challenging and I still felt as though I had much more to learn. Also, you immediately feel inspired to practice more once you hear Ahmad shred on his guitar. This guy plays the crap out of that thing! Plus, he has a wide variety of musical background so you get to learn genres you never thought you'd enjoy playing (i.e. Blues). Overall it was an awesome experience and I would definitely recommend Ahmad lessons to all of my friends looking to play guitar."

Can You Really Teach Yourself How to Play Ukulele?

If you want to learn how to play ukulele, you’re in excellent company. Ukulele virtuoso Jake Shimabukuro says “ukulele is one of the easiest instruments to play, and you don’t have to be a musician to play it.” But if you’re just starting out, can you really teach yourself how to play ukulele?
