I teach sketching, painting (watercolor, oil and acrylic) to children 5-10 years of age as way to release stress, gain confidence, and express themselves!
All materials are provided, but students are welcome to bring their own brushes, paints, paper, etc. if they so desire.
My instruction extends nationwide, with students from all corners of the US, utilizing online tutoring services such as Skype.
My main field of study is in MATH (trig, algebra, geometry, precalculus), CHEMISTRY (high school and college), and PHYSICS (high school and college).
I completed my Bachelors in Physics and Mathematics Education at Hunter University and have gained experience with both in-person and online group instruction and curriculum development.
Some examples of the students I have tutored are: Elementary school students preparing for State competitions and exams; High school and College students in preparance for entrance exams, and in subjects such as algebra, geom
I do Regents and SAT/ACT prep for these subjects as well as the GRE (These are NYS based High School Preparatory Exams - do not hesitate to ask should you need assistance with the ones offered in your state/country).
In addition, I am thorough and meticulous, by paying special attention to how the student grasps information and retains it, I prepare individualized handwritten reviews, with supplemental material found online and in texts.
I assign homework to keep my students ahead of what is going on in class, and a visual and intuitive understanding of the concepts I present is important to me, so I use visual aids (diagrams and interactive models) to help my students integrate what they learn with me in real life situations.
My instruction includes:
1. Tutoring based on the school curriculum
2. Instruction on the home-schooling curriculum
3. Assisting those with a gap in going back to school/university.
I start with an assessment based on what the student has trouble with or last remembers covering in school, and prepare material going from there.
As a result, my students all have improved grades without any need for cramming before tests, and I encourage a stress-free and easygoing learning environment.
My lessons are fun and enthusiastic - these subjects are beautiful and will help open your mind to new ways of thinking - whatever your field of study!

I see marked improvements in their grades for this past year, and my eldest is actually skipping fourth grade as a result of lessons. I am astounded as to my girls' progress, and greatly appreciative of our tutor's expertise.
Her patient, methodical approach to teaching is why I see us remaining with her for all of our educational instruction. She has already taught arithmetic to my youngest (3rd grade), and algebra to my eldest (starting 5th this sept!), and is proceeding with more advanced math with no issue whatsoever. I cannot recommend her enough.

I've been teaching various painting mediums, styles, and subjects for the past 3 years: watercolor, acrylic, oil, tempera, and finger paint. I teach composition along with color theory and mixing. Students have the freedom to choose their interests and subject matter.
Hannah creates balanced, fun, intellectual, refreshing yoga sequences that take you on far away imaginary journeys while also teaching deeper yoga philosophy and wellness concepts. These classes are available live in San Diego or on video (many filmed on location) to take you on an inspiring journey abroad!
With 4 years of experience as a flight attendant, and many more adventures preceding, Hannah's curiosity and adventurous spirit have explored ancient ruins, pilgrimage treks, world famous art museums, countless natural beauty vistas and monuments, while encountering and soaking in elements from worldwide cultures. She has chosen San Diego as her home because of the abundant sunshine, aesthetic design, friendly people, nourishing
She also had the opportunity to teach 4 years of drawing, painting, sculpture and mixed media to students from grades 5-12 at the San Diego School of Creative and Performing Arts, Torrey Pines High School, and Endeavour Academy. Her lessons focused on individual creativity and learning about historical and cultural art techniques from around the world. Through the Language of Art, she taught the Elements (line, shape, form, value, space, color, and texture) as well as the Principles (balance, contrast, proportion, variety, unity, and gradation) in each art project. Hannah encouraged every student to analyze their own artwork and the artwork of others through discussions and presentations. Today, she offers private art lessons to individuals of any age who would like to explore their creative side in their media of choice.
Hannah first tried yoga at the end of her college studies, when her fingertips were 6-8 inches from touching the ground (in forward fold), then she dabbled in yoga on Nintendo Wii. She really dove in and found transformation through Yoga One San Diego. In 2012, while serving tables at Cafe Chloe, Hannah met Laura McCorey, a teacher and blog writer from Yoga One, and began learning yoga in beautiful Balboa Park. Laura opened her perspective to the healing aspect that yoga can bring and she began to find inner balance and peace as she practiced 3-4 times a week at the studio for the following years to the present. With an athletic background of a runner and hiker, Hannah gradually began to increase in flexibility, balance and whole body strength. Today, her palms can press against the earth in forward fold! This teaches us that yoga is not for the flexible, but it is here to help us become more flexible!
In fall of 2014, after completing the Rainbow Kids Yoga Training, she stumbled upon the opportunity to also teach yoga to her students at the charter school. She continued to deepen her practice as she received her 200 Hour Yoga Teacher Certifficate from Yoga One San Diego in March 2015. Hannah shared her passion of travel by taking kids through imaginary journeys to different places. This passion evolved into teaching live adult adventure classes at Yoga One San Diego and Waterfront Park.
Hannah's students have been able to experience the joy and health benefits that yoga has to offer. Hannah emphasizes safety in getting into and out of poses, proper alignment, and the benefits of breathing with your movements (Vinyasa Flow). She incorporates partner poses like 'Bicycle" and "House" to teach trusting and interconnected relationships.
Hannah enjoys inspiring her students through a full body experience of movement with breath, muscle strength and flexibility, connection with others, listening to verbal instructions and stories, playing world music, aromatherapy, and symbolism through visual art.
Hannah has had the opportunity to teach a Kids Summer Camp in 2015 that connects the yoga lessons to her art lessons. For example, she taught a Rain forest theme lesson with poses like tree, frog, jaguar, and rainbow, then incorporated illustration examples through books about the Rain forest, and students drew and colored their own illustration with these animals and objects. Further, after a yoga lesson of Things that Fly, students created bald eagles with vinyl by tracing their hands for the wings. Hannah aspires to share her light and enthusiasm to anyone who is open.
Hannah loves Half Moon pose and the contrast that it represents with the sun, similar to yin/yang philosophy. There are many contrasts in our life that are meant to be observed and appreciated: night/day, inhale/exhale, forward-bend/back-bend, hot/cold, energetic/calm, in/out, up/down, new/old, fast/slow, work/play, travel/home, left/right, clean/dirty, empty/full, difficult/easy, and young/old. She is inspired to continue to grow on her journey and share it with you!

Hannah is patient and Mia enjoys learning from her. I sit nearby during her home lessons and feel the teaching technique is perfect for Mia.
I took lessons as a child and feel Mia has accomplished much in five lessons while having fun and enjoying the songs she is playing.
I would highly recommend Hannah to anyone who has an interest in learning how to play the piano.
I chose piano lessons as a Christmas gift to my granddaughter. I waited until she showed an interest in learning piano and I'm happy to have found a great teacher. Thank you TakeLessons and thank you Hannah.

I've been teaching painting for 15 years. I work with my students to customize lessons to their individual needs. Working with specific goals, I can help students achieve whatever level of painting they wish to achieve. I have taught lessons with students of all ages and all levels. I teach the importance of understanding composition, light and shadow. Together, we can work on realism, abstraction, figurative, landscape or anything you desire!
I aim to achieve two goals in my teaching. First, I want to help students understand how to "see" rather than look. Being able to break down shapes, light and shadow in the visual field is really important. Furthermore, I aim to help students understand how to work with their desired medium. Whether a student wishes to use oil paints, acrylic paints, charcoal or any nu

I began drawing in three dimensions at the age of two (it was a stuffed panda bear doll if you must know). I am a keenly visual person, and began winning awards in art in elementary school, and eventually went on to become student artist of the year in New York state while a sophomore in high school. That same year I had a show in a gallery in Manhattan. The following year I made my own short animated film and was hired by a private academy to do all their creative print marketing. My approach to teaching art is similar to my approach to teaching communication. Sometimes art is about telling a story. Often it can be about making a point (even if that point is just about beauty or dysfunction, or beauty in dysfunction). But whatever its purpose, art is *always* about seeing, with more than your eyes. The best forms of art capture and captivate all of who we are and how we perceive, whether we’re talking pencil sketches or making movies. While I teach lots of different styles,
Although I have a degree from M.I.T., I’m far from your typical M.I.T. grad. I’ve been a news anchor, a radio disc jockey, a missionary, a pastor, a corporate trainer, a consultant, an executive officer, and a business entrepreneur. I would love to share as many of my experiences as can help you in your particular subject of interest.

• Organizing your thoughts in a way that resonates with your listeners
• Actively engaging with people and not just transferring information
• Turning fear and timidity into powerful tools for connecting
• Cultivating approachability and confidence with your audience
Regarding Math, some people are naturally good at math and some are like deer in the headlights. Studying Physics, Engineering, and Architecture at M.I.T. meant learning and doing *lots* of math. I find the greatest delight helping those who aren’t naturally good at math learn to appreciate and conquer it in the context of their regular, day to day lives. My greatest accomplishment in this respect has been teaching one of my daughters who hates math to embrace it as a wonderful, dependable, and mysterious, faith-building part of life. My approach is to make math real, that is, to connect math to life so that not just how to do it, but why doing it, is valuable and makes sense.

Regarding the Bible, I have been an exhaustive student and teacher of the Bible for 32 years and would welcome the opportunity to help you either learn it, teach it, or both (which is what often happens). Nothing that I have taught in my life is as important as the truths and life lessons I have learned and taught from its pages. It is scary and funny and crazy and tender (among many things) but most of all it is more than what most of us have heard (especially in church), and it will change us if we let it. Our studies would include language, history, culture, geography, and even science, combined with lots of thought provoking questions, and creative insight. We won’t shy away from the difficult topics that often cause doubt or division, but we will certainly avoid the canned, off-the-shelf answers that do more harm than good in helping people digest this book. This is not a safe class. If you already think you have a pretty good handle on the Bible, then this class is probably not for you. But if, like me, something about the profession and practice of Christianity around you seems terribly off, or missing, then this may be exactly what you’re looking for. Expect that much of what you thought or believed (but perhaps never really read or studied) will likely be challenged. This is not an academic study, but rather an upfront and personal interaction with The Truth.

As in, two plus two equals five, sort of bad. Okay, maybe not that bad, but still... ;-) Mark helped make math easy and understandable for me, in a way that textbooks or even lectures (regardless of how "good" they might be) can't. Many people have head knowledge, and are labeled as a teacher because of their textbook understanding, but the real test for a good teacher is how to transfer that head knowledge to another person in an easy, understandable and fun way. Mark does all that and I believe more in everything he teaches. He has mastered how to reach every person on the level they're at and explain not only what they are trying to learn, but also the "why" behind it.
He is not just a one trick pony either. I've heard him speak on many occasions, and each time, regardless of what he's speaking about he sounds deeply passionate and thoughtful.
I also enjoy acting, (not necessarily as a career, but I have done a few productions here and there) and often times a character I will be representing will need an accent to distinguish it. Mark can pick up just about any accent and guide you into mastering it. The longest it has taken me to learn at least the basics of an accent under his guidance, has been two days. Now that doesn't mean everyone will have a perfectly mastered accent in that same time, but it does say something about his abilities as a teacher.
All this to say, I believe one of the best qualities of a truly great teacher is the ability to be a student, and be humble enough to learn themselves. I think the proof of this quality is very evident in Mark's varied abilities, and I would highly recommend him to many.

I have also taken lessons from him in all of the other subjects he teaches and have found the same fundamental principles of his instruction methods/style to hold true. He loves to help people to really understand what they are learning in an applicable way. He knows how to adapt to his students' needs for optimal learning and growth. From visuals to stories and examples he always finds a way to make each lesson not only memorable but fun. I would highly recommend him as an instructor in any one of the lessons he offers.

Art from the Heart! It is my opinion that, as an artist, Art is supposed to be affordable so that all may own a special piece. I will teach you to paint using your photos or 'en plein air' (outdoors). Painting will be done in a park near my home or a coffee shop on Cass Street so that we can flick paint all over the place. We begin with the basic color wheel and move on to other subjects as you continue lessons. I will supply all colors. I only use paint from a supplier in LA which provides the studios with their paint colors. They have the most true pigments of any paint that I have used in my 40 years of painting. They are the same exact price or lower than local art suppliers paint products. The main focus is to slow your mind and concentrate on details no matter how long it takes. As artists we are our own worst critic; the public painting will also expose you to positive comments from the public who love to see people paint outdoors.

I have a master's degree in Art. As an active artist, I spend my time producing pieces professionally as well as teaching to people of all ages for over 10 years. I work with all medias, for example: acrylics, oils, watercolors, pastels, charcoal, and pencils. My joy for teaching comes from watching my students grow as artist as they improve their own style and expression. I believe the most effective way to teach artist is to seek out the inner talent in each individual. The journey that is learning about art is discovering how to make it.
I love to make, teach and show art. I have taught many creative subjects to all ages for over 20 years, privately and in schools, and I love being an all-around inspiration to my students and fellow artists. I am passionate about re-creating the beauty of our world, from our eyes through our brains, hearts and hands, to our brushes. I paint mostly plein air because I love nature, and because staying ahead of the moving light is always an exciting challenge. I teach techniques and processes I have learned from master teachers, but I teach in a way that allows you to find yourself and evolve. From drawing and design to value and color, from art history and appreciation to keeping creative channels open , if you are looking for a kind, passionate, knowledgeable, versatile instructor, you've found her!
I have many years of private art training, from art lessons in my elementary school as a kid to private lessons and group workshops with master artists throughout my lifetime. My training has been versatile, as I am an artist with multiple interests, but my main focus is on oil painting-both plein air painting and studio illustration work. I am attracted to beautiful colors and the play of light and shadow. I paint in nature as often as possible, and on other days I work on turning landscape, figure and portrait skills
