Mr. Malchik is simply an outstanding, excellent teacher. Not only is he knowledgeable in music performance and theory, he is also joyful, enthusiastic and patient with my child. The many things my child has learned include, but are not limited to, how to read treble and bass clef, proper sitting and body posture, left and right hand finger techniques for scales and arpeggios, and how to play chords. Along with this training, he also encourages my child to have creative freedom - to enjoy music by playing songs she has either composed herself or heard outside of lessons.

It is my great pleasure to recommend Mr. Ley M. to you as a music teacher to your child. I am writing as a parent of a son who has benefited from Mr. Ley M.’s phenomenal instructional ability for the Elementary School Music Program in Newark, California, as well as in private music lessons.
Mr. Ley M. is passionate about music. His love for the art is evident in his enthusiastic and energetic teaching techniques. As the music teacher for the Elementary School Music Program with the Newark Unified School District, Mr. Ley M. is exceedingly patient with all students, encourages them, and coaxes the very best effort from each and every child.
We were very fortunate that Mr. Ley M. was able to provide private tutoring for my son beyond the after school music program. My son has made tremendous progress in learning to play the clarinet. Mr. Ley M. has given my child a strong musical foundation-learning the correct embouchure and fingering techniques to play the clarinet, increasing proficiency in reading notes, timing, and hearing pitch.
Although Mr. Ley M. is one of the best music teacher in the area, his prices are extremely reasonable. In my opinion, he is worth every penny he charges and I certainly believe I have received excellent services for my money. I am tremendously grateful to Mr. Ley M. for everything he has taught my son and the joy of my son’s music playing has brought to our family.

Nicholas has been teaching my daughter vocal lessons for about 11 months and he’s fantastic!

She’s improved so much in 10 months! He’s awesome and delivers results! My daughter enjoys her lessons with him and she’s just 9 years old and has developed so much due to his mentor ship. My daughter also has an aptitude for singing and tends to catch on to his instructions quickly.

Acting a Song
Let's work on perfecting the story. Especially in musical theatre it is important to portray your journey through the song. Many people can sing well but how you tell a story is going to be unique to everyone else, and that is what is going to make you stand out at auditions. Lets dig deep into your work!

Vocal Technique
I was originally trained classically, and as I've grown as an artisit I have also learned how to sing many other styles, such as musical theatre, pop, jazz, etc. I believe that everyone is capable of learning the technique for any style no matter if they consider themeselves a "legit soprano", or a "powerhouse belter". In our voice lessons we will work on the technique of whatever style you want to work on. Let's make some music!

In the 16 years that I’ve been teaching professionally, I’ve taught over 100 students, driven over 300,000 miles, and worn-out two cars, but it’s been worth every mile. The main focus of the lessons will always be to develop a solid, healthy technique. For those singers interested, we can also work on audition materials and I will coach them on all aspects of performing. To keep things "exciting," I bring a variety of genres of music to work on (classical, pop/rock, country, jazz, musical theater - I'm still working on my rap). I focus on helping singers work through vocal changes and coach them on finding their own unique sound.

About Megan

I have always loved music. I started singing when I joined the 3rd grade chorus, began studying violin in the 4th grade, and took up the alto saxophone in the 5th grade. I went to NYSSMA and SCMEA and LISFA. By the time I was a freshman in high school, I was giving violin and alto saxophone less

Meg is one of the best voice teachers you could ever hope to find. Not only is she knowledgable about a wide variety of genres and styles, but she also offers practical advice and constructive criticism to help you find your voice. She taught me the mechanics of healthy belting and mixing, and helped me develop my soprano range. Meg also has one of the most gorgeous voices you’ve ever heard! I cannot recommend her enough to anyone looking to study voice or singing!

"Kiki knew exactly what to teach me to make the biggest difference with my technique right away and she didn't hold back. I am an advanced student yet we still saw huge changes immediately. I feel she has been as great a teacher as anyone I've ever taken from, if not better. She's very clear and very bold, and also builds confidence at the same time."

"Mikayla is not only a brilliant vocalist herself, but a phenomenal instructor as well. Her teaching style is a healthy blend of personal and professional, and she demonstrates superior knowledge of vocal and musical techniques. Mikayla excels at discerning and understanding her students’ needs — I am always impressed by her preparation and efforts to tailor each lesson to my progress. Her friendly, upbeat personality facilitates a “safe zone” where learning to sing is not only comfortable, but fun! I highly recommend Mikayla Batschi to anyone looking to increase their artistic arsenal!"

"I am so excited about my voice lessons. I am a university trained classical singer with extensive operatic and art song experience who wanted to get back to singing after a long absence. I was looking for a teacher that could help me to navigate the changes in my voice due to the aging process and provide me with the tools to steady a vibrato that had gotten out of hand. Michelle and Robert are exactly what I needed. They have extensive and commanding knowledge of the voice and support mechanism and teach from the Italian “Bel Canto School” perspective. That is to say pure vowels, open throated but focused sound and a healthy, low laryngeal position. I am loving my voice again and it has only been 3 lessons. They are exceptional at finding the beauty in the individual voice and not requiring a “carbon copy” sound. One of the best things about my lessons is that they complement each other as teachers and find a number of ways to facilitate a natural and beautiful sound by articulating suggestions in many and varied ways. If the student is unable to reproduce the desired outcome by one method, they will find another way to achieve it. Not one minute of a lesson is wasted and each week brings quick and substantial progress. It has been a joy to work with them and I look forward to each lesson and the progress they bring. In short, I am thrilled."

"Excellent first voice lesson. Jillian is warm, encouraging, and very knowledgeable. I was surprised how many "technical" issues she introduced me to (optimal breathing & how best to practice it at home; appropriate use of falsetto at upper limit of bass voice range, etc.) . Looking forward to continued lessons. (Much better use of what used to be my copay for psychotherapy! I've also joined rehearsals with new Encore-NYC chorale group in Manhattan, for people over 55. Music is giving me a real emotional lift in my retirement.)"

"It is such a joy working with Christine. I was extremely nervous to start voice lessons because the voice you're given is who you are, it is a very vulnerable art form. Christine made me feel very comfortable and helped me to sing the best with the voice that I was given. Her ability to diagnose and remedy problems in technique was stellar. I am much more confident in my abilities and willing to share my voice with other people. I know I wouldn't have been able to do that if it weren't for Christine. I would recommend her as a teacher one hundred times over!!"
