About Jennifer
Born and raised in Denver, Colorado, Jen T. was 13 years old when she picked up her first guitar, rescuing her mom’s dusty old acoustic from the family’s attic. Quickly developing a love for the instrument, Jen headed west to sharpen her craft at LA’s esteemed Musicians Institute, where she earned her bachelor’s degree in music performance.
While studying at MI, Jen formed the folk-pop duo Jen & Abby with vocalist Abby Miller. With their quirky style and catchy tunes, the band soon gained a devoted following through gigs at many renowned LA venues, including The Key Club, House of Blues, and Hotel Café. Following the release of their 2008 debut album Cannot Rearrange, the band’s music was featured in multiple films and television commercials.
Jen has been sought out by many other artists seeking her particular blend of expertise and p
erformance savvy.
She relishes the chance to put her skills to the test in a wide variety of musical genres. In addition to writing and performing, Jen keeps busy as a private instructor to dozens of aspiring guitarists. She also has done over 1000 online instructional videos totaling up to more than 40 million views for YouTube and Mahalo website. Her various Mahalo website "Learn Guitar" apps have over 300,000 downloads and has had an itunes #1 ibook on how to play guitar.

About Bethany
Hello! My name is Bethany. I have been studying horn for almost 20 years and have been teaching for almost 10. I am currently located in Simi Valley, CA, a little valley located next to THE Valley, quite close to most of Los Angeles. I teach online lessons and local lessons in Ventura and Los Angeles County.

About Me | Teaching Method
As a teacher, I find the most joy in seeing technical improvement translate into artistic freedom and musicality. I also just love sharing my nerdy love for the horn with young musicians!

I tailor lessons and take time to understand each student's pace of learning and playing style. I typically write out customized warm ups for each of my students that highlight aspects of horn playing that promote flexibility and teach music theory. I use etudes in not only a way that promotes technique, but also i
n a way that inspires creativity, giving a student freedom to experiment with musicality and composition. Students are welcome to bring me any ensemble, solo, or audition music they wish to work on.

Lesson Details | Private Horn Lessons
Local Lessons: I will drive to you! The only required equipment is 2 chairs and 1 stand. A piano/keyboard is preferred for music theory and ear training aspects of horn playing but not necessary.

Online Lessons: I use Skype mostly; I can of course use any method of video chat that you prefer.

Bethany is a wonderful instructor! She is consistently caring and insightful, and has appropriately high expectations--which push her students to improve. She was able to help me wisely choose music that would be both challenging and rewarding. I highly recommend her, and I had a great experience taking lessons from her.

MUSIC!
I think music is the most beautiful thing in the world, so lets take time to learn and play music together.
I have been playing the drums for over sixteen years, and been in over fifteen bands in the course of that time. I have a degree in Music from the Berklee College of Music were I studied music theory and focused on Music Production and Engineering. I have been playing Piano, Bass, and Guitar for about ten years in addition to the drums, and have been recorded in sessions on each. I have a deep passion for synthesizers and electronic music, so lets make some bleeps and bloops together.

I am extremely kind, friendly, and funny so lessons with me are very relaxed and have an easy to learn environment. However I am very passionate about teaching to fit student needs; so if a student likes deadlines and homework, if that is w
hat will help them learn the best, then that is how I will teach.
Lets make some sweet music together!!
~Eric

About Alexander
I am a Filipino-American guitarist who recently relocated to Los Angeles to experience and participate in the vibrant art & music scene. I earned a Master’s Degree in Music Pedagogy from Texas Woman’s University under the internationally-recognized guitarist, Carlo Pezzimenti.

Playing across the US and Europe with many national touring acts, I have been fortunate enough to experience many different avenues for music-making, as a solo, orchestra pit, big band, rock, and studio musician.

Completely fascinated with guitar gear (both old and new, acoustic, electric, classical), constantly researching tone, amps, and the latest pedals and effects.

I love to experience and perform music from many different cultures and regions. Therefore, I feel comfortable teaching a wide variety of styles (classical, jazz, rock, metal, bossanova, F
ilipino kundiman, etc.). I always strive to use my medium to observe, explore, and celebrate different cultures as well as my own.

My lessons are personally catered to each student’s interests and abilities. Whether you are a beginner, looking to learn the basics, or a seasoned player, looking to maybe hone your skills, I can help! Contact me today and let’s make some music!

Alex is an excellent teacher! He worked at my pace and gave me a good foundation of exercises and instructions on how to build hand strength and proper posturing for playing classical guitar. He's very down to earth and makes you feel comfortable and capable throughout each lesson. My favorite songs we worked on were the duets.

About Sarah
I am a graduate student in music composition at California Baptist University. After getting my undergraduate degree in composition and history (double major) at CBU, I quickly returned, eager to learn more about music and to hone my craft. My senior recital featured an eclectic array of works, from string trios, piano trios, a fugue, an a cappella piece, a piece for choir and string orchestra, and two pop songs.

I think the best music is unconventionally honest. Anyone can rhyme or be cliche, but the best music, like poetry, will use creative means to express emotion. I am inspired by the works of Julien Baker, Sarah Sparks, Gabriel Faure, Eriks Esenvalds, Ola Gjeilo and Kings Kaleidoscope. My music has been described as always demonstrating a sense of yearning, while exhibiting interesting harmonies and beautiful melodies.

I don't l
ike to try to get students to write more like me, but rather to learn how to write more like themselves. How can you better express what YOU are trying to say? There are usually many options. Part of learning to compose music is to learn how to explore those options. To even start THINKING of more options. It's a new way of thinking and creating, and I would love to explore these new ways of thought and creativity with you!
