Whether you need copy-editing of your professional document, better pronunciation, or simply to reduce your accent, and sound more 'American', I am well able to help you!
Some people have difficulty reaching a teachers' studio. For this reason, I have perfected my ability to teach via Skype or FaceTime. It is an advantage for my students to b
Please note: I only accept weekly lesson students. Also, due to my performances, I'm not always able to this calendar up to date....so when you request a lesson time, allow me to communicate with you, if we need to adjust it a bit. It almost always works out if you don't mind doing that.
*** Lesson Details ***
All the students on my Student YouTube channel who have studied under three years, are practicing 2 hours a week, and you will have a similar result. That's 20 minutes a day, 6 days a week. Students under 5 practice about 10-15 minutes a day.
Please have an assignment book that lies flat, and keep it next to your music books as you practice between lessons. My instructions are very detailed to insure your best progress.
*** Studio Equipment ***
For on-line lessons, you will need a quiet place, and please test your sound and video prior to beginning of lesson. For students under 13 or so, do have a parent or caregiver taking notes while we work together.
*** Specialties ***
I have much experience with various learning styles, and in fact, am featured in a documentary made of one of my autistic students.

I've taught ESL to many students, varying from people who could barely say "hello" to those who were just trying to get the past perfect continuous tense right. I love it.
I love learning languages in my spare time and practicing when I can. When I'm not looking a bit silly doing that, I'm usually reading, at a baseball game, or hanging out with friends. I keep active, making sure to run or play a sport when I can. However, it's equally as strong as my love for foods of all kinds.
I really look forward to getting to work with you and helping you with whatever I can!

Currently, I tutor students from different countries, including Colombia, Brazil, Saudi Arabia, and Peru to help them in college and business. In Peru and Mexico, I taught ESL full-time to adults, college students, and high school students. The classes ranged from basic English where the students had little to no English experience to advanced business conversation among nearly fluent ESL speakers.
All of my students, meaning a perfect 100%, have improved their grades by at least one letter grade, if not more, and passed every one of their tests and exams. I help ALL my clients reach their goals!
A couple years ago, I returned to San Diego after living in Peru for several years where I taught English as a second language. My students ranged from adult business people and academicians to primary and secondary school students. I really needed to utilize different teaching methods depending on each student’s needs. Some students wanted more business-related conversation, so I had to be able to teach business principles in marketing, communication,
The feedback I often received from my Peruvian students, as well as my students in Mexico and the U.S., was that I made learning an enjoyable experience—they wanted to work harder to advance quickly in their classes. All of my students agree that I have a lot of patience and turn even the most challenging lessons into ones of positivity and encouragement. I provide critical feedback in the most constructive of ways that help the students reach conclusions on their own. I enjoy being there to support and guide their experience!
Before I left for Peru, I worked at St Vincent de Paul Village (part of Father Joe's Villages) in downtown San Diego. There I focused on Health Education. I built the Villages' first Health Education department and helped start its innovative Health & Wellness program. As part of these two programs, I taught homeless and low-income adults with and without learning disabilities, as well as children from preschoolers to high school students. Teaching such a wide variety of students how to improve their health while living in sometimes precarious situations without much income or stability pushed me to think creatively and come up with memorable ways to engage the students and help them apply what they had learned in their daily routine.
In high school, I took all AP and college prep classes. I went to a liberal arts college in Virginia where I focused on social studies and biology. I spent a few years training business people in Microsoft Office, Photoshop, InDesign, as well as presentation techniques. In grad school, I specialized in applied anthropology and public health. During that time, I tutored students in web design. In between, I've worked in Communications and Training in international health and development, so I have a lot of experience to bring to teaching.
Basically, I love teaching. I'm enthusiastic yet patient, and I absolutely adore helping kids and adults alike learn. It's such a sense of accomplishment when my students show off their terrific grades. I see the same look in my students’ eyes regardless of age—that pride that shines from within, that exuberant smile, like they can conquer anything. I want my students to keep that pride for a long, long time.
Right now, I'm writing two textbooks to be used in my Spanish classes. I've also written several academic articles published online. I love traveling, cats, and learning!

When I moved from Russia to US in 2011, my English was at beginner’s level and I desperately needed to start speaking this language as soon as pos
I tried to take some ESL classes at local colleges and also study with a tutor but it did not work very well. Instead I became more afraid of making mistakes or saying something not correctly. I was frustrated and started to think that I am just not made for learning new languages.
I heard about Roman from my colleague who did intensive French language program designed and taught by mr. Nam. So he told me that Roman also teaches ESL. I decided to give it a try.
After three months of classes with Roman my English improved so much! From the beginning of classes I started to feel so motivated and everything was explained in really simple way. I don’t really understand how Roman was doing this but every class and even every homework was so interesting and so fun to do. I loved to hear myself speak English better and better. I started to use my english in any situation and I felt so confident.
Now, after four years living in US my English is much better but i know that the most important step in my progress was the program I did with Roman and I am very thankful for all his help."
