"I have to update my review now that I've had a bunch of lessons with Amy. People who can do something well and also teach well are rare and Amy is one of those. Before I started with her, I had been doing crochet using YouTube and had taken a couple of local classes. I was pulling things out and starting over frequently because i'd realize i didn't understand/had totally missed something, which was getting frustrating. Even in the live classes the teachers were nice and skilled but they didn't take the time to make sure we understood certain fundamental facts about crochet and what we were doing, focusing more on just getting it done. Amy makes a point of expressing the basic things one needs to know about the stitches we are doing, as much as helping me get the final result.

I looked up online lessons because the quarantine had started and I had purchased a sweater pattern that I really wanted to make, and thought i should be able to accomplish. Many people on Ravelry had complained about the pattern's shortcomings -- some had given up on it, though the people that did complete it, had great results - over 95 people posted pictures of their results, though some aren't quite like the advertised picture. I really wanted to make that sweater though, so I thought it was time to get some real lessons, and found Amy. The way she talked me through the pattern and other patterns, I totally got how to look at patterns and think about them. She lets you know her thought process so you can think it through yourself. Now, when i rip something out to do something over, it's not because i don't know what i'm doing so much as i now know what i'm trying to accomplish. The sweater is almost done and btw, looks just like the picture!! I've realized that it's a great idea to tell Amy whatever i'm thinking and she will give the best advice. Oh, and from the first lesson, she got me getting straight edges easily (now, it makes so much sense but at the time it seemed like a fluke whenever i had a straight edge!)"

5 Questions Every Jewelry Designer Should Have An Answer For

Interested in trying your hand at jewelry design? Before you begin, consider the following 5 questions, as outlined by Nashville jewelry designer and teacher Warren F... Susan felt very unsure of herself. And unsure of her jewelry. Would people like it? Was the color mix appropriate? Was the construction secure? Was the price smart and fair? She allowed all this uncertainty to affect her design work – she had difficulty finishing pieces she was working on, starting new projects, and getting …
