We gave a poker lesson with Athan to our son for his 19th birthday. It was the best! Athan was extremely responsive and well prepared asking us in advance what our son wanted to work on. He made it fun while learning many skills. Highly recommend Athan!

I can't really talk too much about how other teachers work, and also don't want to. But I know I have and always had many happy and successful students. From kids, adults, professionals, hobbyists to people who retired and finally have time to fulfill a life goal.

I take lessons from Marcel for about 5 years now. We started with Accordion and I asked him later if he could teach me German as well. I knew he would teach German. No I am taking 3 hours accordion and mostly 2-3 hours German on the weekends and I am loving it.

I can truly say he is one of the best teachers / tutors out there. He is not only super patient but puts so much heart and passion into the lessons.

I know he is mostly super busy but if you have the chance to take lessons with him, I would say GO FOR IT! :)

"My grand-daughters (10-14) visited Crafty Table during the Thanksgiving Holiday of 2014 when they traveled to Chicago from Phoenix, Az. They were introduced to hand-stitching & how to thread a sewing machine. They made wallets& pillows from a wide variety of fabrics & stuffing material. They arrived hesitant of their skills but left capable of describing their projects in-depth. Using millinery terms. They even helped me to construct a beautiful pillow that I treasure from that day. The Crafty Table Sewing Day with their Chicago Grandma ranked higher than Navy Pier in their memory banks!"

"I have been taking lessons from Dipankar for five weeks. My game has already shown improvement. When I started my rating was 1050, now I am at 1250. That is a significant improvement. His lessons are engaging and he provides a lot of feedback. I recently won a difficult game using the tactics and pointers he provided in a recent lesson. I was elated. I recognized the advancement in my game. This coupled with Dipankar's tutelage continues to encourage me to strive for my goal of attaining a 2300 rating. I look forward to see what else I can achieve under his guidance."

"I enrolled my 11-year old daughter in Felicia's Saturday sewing class. Because the lesson is some distance from our house, I stuck around and observed the lessons. Felicia is unfailingly patient, kind and unhurried. She does not jump in and take over if something goes wrong; she teaches the child to cut, measure, stitch, etc. and expects the child to master and complete the task alone. Her classes are fun and my daughter has taken a real interest in sewing."

6 Tips For Improving Your Chess Game

Back around 2014, I decided I was going to improve at chess. I watched a few videos online about some openings, played a few dozen blitz games online, and then promptly lost interest within a week. Four years later, I decided to pick it up again and in less than a year, I had gone from 1100 to 1900 Elo rating online. Obviously, I changed how I went about my improvement! So here are the steps that I took the second time around that got me to where I am now, and some ways you can improve your ches …
