Instead of a rigid model of teaching, I teach by getting to know what my students like and get them to learn the guitar by songs they're inspired by! Guitar can be pretty difficult to learn especially in the beginning. So I want to make sure my students enjoy the process of learning as much as possible!

No pressure! Only Encouragement. I have seen too many talented musicians lose their love for music because they were forced to practice. I go at your pace!
Beginner Guitar lessons include: Chord and Chord Shapes (Open and Barred), Scales, Rhythm, Blues Licks, and Song Form.
I think music is the most beautiful thing in the world, so lets take time to learn and play music together.
I have been playing the drums for over sixteen years, and been in over fifteen bands in the course of that time. I have a degree in Music from the Berklee College of Music were I studied music theory and focused on Music Production and Engineering. I have been playing Piano, Bass, and Guitar for about ten years in addition to the drums, and have been recorded in sessions on each. I have a deep passion for synthesizers and electronic music, so lets make some bleeps and bloops together.
I am extremely kind, friendly, and funny so lessons with me are very relaxed and have an easy to learn environment. However I am very passionate about teaching to fit student needs; so if a student likes deadlines and homework, if that is what w
Lets make some sweet music together!!
Whether you want to learn music theory, songwriting, music production, mixing techniques, improve your improvisational skills, or just shred peoples faces off, I'd love to help you get there. I've found the best way to inspire students is by showing them that they can play the songs they love (and learn theory and technique along the way)
I first picked up a guitar because my mom dragged me kicking and screaming to my first lesson. I expected route memorization and drills, but when I sat down and my teacher showed me the riff to "Sunshine of Your Love", I immediately fell in love with the instrument.
I use this philosophy when teaching my students by showing them how to play and create music they love and use that as a gateway into a fundamental understanding of music theory and composition.
Some of the styles I teach are Rock, Blues, Funk, R&B, Alternative, Acoustic, an
At Beginning Guitar Los Angeles, I focus on the student as a person and as a musician and how music effects them in their everyday lives. I offer a creative environment in which children feel safe, expressive and free to be themselves. With over 16 years of playing experience and 5 years experience as an educator to those with special needs, I feel the atmosphere at Beginning Guitar Los Angeles is the most conducive to my potential clients' emotional and musical goals.
I recently graduated UCLA Herb Alpert School of Music with a BA in Music History. My concentration is theory and education.
I will travel anywhere in the LA region to teach students of all ages. Music is my passion and I live to share it with others.
Nothing brings me greater joy than connecting with someone on a musical level and seeing the light bulb, the "AHA!" moment when they get it, especially children, or seeing someone so impressed by their OWN capabilities because of what I taught them.
My past students claim my teaching to be the best they've ever had. Throughout high school and college, classmates would seek help from me claiming that my approach was easier to understand than that of the teacher or professor.
I have a unique way of tailoring my teaching style to the different ways in which people learn, including and especially kids.
My unique, outgoing, lighthearted, humorous, and warm personality qualify me appropriately for teaching music.

At 12 my dad bought me my first guitar and I caught on at a rate that was perceivably rapid. The words "natural" and "prodigy" were used, though I find them quite frivolous. By 14 I was playing in church worship bands and in high school I was playing in bands of my own.
I currently play in my own band as a singer songwriter and recently released a full length album that can be heard here:
There's a phrase, "Those that can't do teach." I cannot disagree more. Not everyone can teach. This re

Kimberly has a real focus on and talent for teaching. My lessons are tailored to meet my interests. A large part of the lesson is devoted to learning her method for blues soloing--at least 5 approaches to improvisation and comping. After several years, I've come to see how these approaches interweave, complement each other and have become an intuitive part of my musical vocabulary.
Also, because I expressed an interest, part of the lesson involves sight reading, learning blues and jazz theory, developing rhythmic playing sense, and learning a few favorite solos. Kimberly has an amazing ability to tab out and teach any song you give her. Which leads to the best part--after 6 months I was invited to play with one of her ensemble classes. While I was absolutely petrified with fear at the beginning, this has turned into one of the highlights of my week every week. It is just downright fun! It's a safe and forgiving environment where you can make mistakes and learn, or try things out that might flop, or turn into something cool. Every teacher and guitar magazine article all point to the need to play with other musicians to develop your skills and this is where Kimberly Allison really delivers. I feel that I could now sit in with other musicians and contribute.
I give my highest recommendation for taking lessons with Kimberly."
