Hi there and thank you for considering me as your personal mentor in the world of digital artistry. A long time ago this world was just a hobby for me as well, and I hope to help you develop your skill set into something much more. I have over a decade of exposure to the rapidly-adapting professional photo and video world, with experience spanning from the smallest of freelance jobs all the way to mainstream feature film production and post. You can spend a lot of money in workshops or online training, but nothing comes close to the value of one-on-one personalized training. Because I enjoy teaching, I make an effort to keep rates affordable for the value of education given. I look forward to meeting you.

I thoroughly enjoyed my lessons with Jacob. My husband gave them to me as a birthday present and it was tons of fun. Jacob was able to answer all of my nitty gritty questions, as well as general tips on improving my skills. The lessons were enjoyable and I learned tons. I've gone from shooting in complete auto mode, because I didn't know how to do anything different, to shooting in aperture priority mode with much better results. My Christmas portrait of my kids will be much better this year thanks to these lessons. If you're looking for an affordable way to improve this is a great option because you'll learn a lot in just a few one-on-one sessions. Jacob was also very flexible in working with me on the schedule for the lessons. Thanks Jacob!

About Sarah
Hello, and thank you for visiting my page! I have been an artist for my whole life and I am passionate about sharing my love of creativity with others. I earned an MFA in Costume Design from UCLA in 2007 and have been a freelance costume designer, college professor, photographer, illustrator, and jewelry designer.

As much as I love to create, what I really love is to help somebody learn to do something they love and create something they can be proud of! I am happy teaching all ages, and I specialize in helping each student find his or her unique vision.

I can teach sewing by hand and on a machine, including how to read and understand the instructions in commercial patterns. Bring your project and I'll help you make it happen! I am highly skilled at teaching life drawing, as well as marker rendering and watercolor fashion illustr
ation. Photography is my other passion, and I look forward to helping you understand how to use a camera's many features, and your eye, to create art.

The teacher was very good and so patient with my pace. The only problem I had was the distance with traffic it was almost 2 hours to go and return.

About Dennis
Hello, my name is Dennis Willoner.

Music and art have always been a huge part of my life. I have been playing drums for 15 years and have been teaching for 7. I grew up learning to play drums from a private instructor, and have been studying on my own ever since. I have played in many bands in my music career and have also tracked drums in studios for local artists. Today, I currently work at School of Rock in Palo Alto as a private and group instructor, and play in a professional band called Constructs.

I have been drawing ever since I can remember. I mostly draw realistically, but also like to get on the creative side. I enjoy drawing faces and people the most out of any subject. After learning so much about art, the world can be viewed in a complete other perspective.

I have been wanting to learn drawing since I was a kid. Had a few years of drawing when I was a kid and then haven't touched in a long time. When I rekindled my interest to learn, I came across Dennis.
Honestly, the reason why I chose Dennis was because he provided at-home classes and that would avoid the hassle of me having to travel. The first few classes were more of me and him warming up to each other, as I am sure he also found me different.
He comes with all the necessary equipment and spends a few minutes giving you some basics of the stuff we are going to do that day. Then he leaves you to draw while he also draws the same. He glances once in a while at your sheet and gives you very subtle feedback. If you have missed something, he will just try to nudge you in the right direction with minor comments like "Don't you think, these are of the same darkness?, There may be more highlights in this area or the mid tones here and here are of the same darkness. etc.". He never touches your paper, but only guides you.
Sometimes when some focus is needed (for example on the eyes), he will tell you the technique involved in depth and we did one full class just doing eyes, one full class on hair.
It was a little frustrating initially for me as I was not used to the teaching technique, and now I see the point. The first drawing itself turned out be much much better than I had anticipated it to be and he hasn't touched my paper till now - so this drawing is fully mine.
You can also continue drawing and send work via text message to him. You almos t always get detailed instant feedback. The only thing is, I haven't been very diligent in doing drawings due to lack of free time. So once a week for an hour is what I do.
He also spends extra time sometimes so that he can take the drawing to a logical point, sometimes even beyond 1.5 hrs though my session is for an hour each. That shows the commitment he has to his students.
I believe my work will improve as this course continues. We have had about 6 classes and I am already seeing the difference. A long way to go, but the first steps have been right - most of it due to Dennis and his method of teaching. I would say more than teaching, it is a method of mentoring where the hand holding is done in a unique way.

My son is a beginner in drawing and is a bit apprehensive about his drawing skills. I really appreciated and liked Margarita's approach, setting music to create a relaxing atmosphere for drawing, explaining the steps, and the foundation for sketching. I think we approached drawing wrongly and after the lesson I changed our way. We play music now (which he likes) and he is drawing more often and is more relaxed.

I’m passionate about arts education, interdisciplinary thinking, art history, ecological stewardship, and color theory. I love teaching art!

I’ve taught a variety of ages and skill levels and care about each student as an individual artist and human being. I design individualized lesson plans for each student with creative, engaging assignments that focus on both technical skill and personal exp
ression. I love helping my students learn and grow as artists.

I’m passionate about art history and color theory. In our lessons, not only will you learn how to draw and paint, you will also learn the cultural history around the subject. I will show you historical and contemporary examples of artwork that fit thematically with our lessons. We will have engaging conversations about art while we draw and paint. I can also point you towards art openings happening around the Bay Area.

My personal teaching style is patient, constructive, and encouraging. With practice and hard work, I can help you achieve your goals.

My name is Dan. The only thing that I love more than painting is teaching students how to paint. I call my teaching method, "serious play". In other words, I want the students to learn something of value during each class, but also to enjoy the creative process that is key to making a successful painting.

I have taken several classes from Dan- at his home and Western Colorado Center for the Arts. Dan has a mellow ,soothing approach to teaching. He often let's the student take control, only to intercede when needed. Dan has a good use of color and could depict wonderful wildlife scenes-wildlife is his forte

When I heard Dan was giving painting classes 19 years ago, I rushed to enroll. I had been admiring his paintings and style ever since I first saw them displayed. Although I had some art experience, I was really new to oil painting and the lessons Dan was able to convey helped me immensely. His classes were easy going and informal leading to a relaxed environment making learning so enjoyable. Though I am now a professional artist, I find myself often thinking back to techniques or lessons in composition I learned from Dan in the years I studied with him. He's a natural!

Leah taught me privately one on one in her studio. She taught me all about the medium of ceramics as well as how to load and unload her kiln. Exposing me to the world of the elements, I now understand the differences between high and low cones as well as experimental glazing techniques. She was totally awesome to work with because we had so much fun! Not to mention, the work that I made with her came out fantastic. I give her five out of five stars!
