I teach beginning drum kit and snare.

I have been teaching drums for 5 years, but other instruments for 15 years.

I am very patient and adjust areas of study to fit my students goals.

About Kimberly
I started playing music around the Kansas City area twenty five years ago. I graduated from The University of Southern California with a degree in studio/jazz guitar (cum laude). While at USC, I received a merit scholarship and an award for professional leadership and service within her department. I also graduated with honors from Musicians Institute (GIT), of Hollywood, CA.

I have toured the U.S. and Canada playing venues such as The Portland Rose Festival, The Playboy Jazz Festival, The Santa Monica Twilight Concert Series, Irvine Lake Blues Festival,The Burnaby British Columbia Blues Festival and the Long Beach Blues Festival. The headliners at these events included Robben Ford, The Neville Brothers, and Johnny Winter.

I have released two solo CD's that have received first-rate reviews, as well as international airplay. Af
ter the second CD, I was biographied for AMG (All Music Guide) the internet's first source for music information. Here are excerpts from the AMG bio:

... there are also elements of Jimi Hendrix (arguably the first true heavy metal/hard rock artist), Jeff Beck and Stevie Ray Vaughan in her playing, and she clearly has a strong appreciation of jazz--not only jazz-rock fusion improvisers like John Scofield, Larry Coryell and Mahavishnu Orchestra founder John McLaughlin, but also, straight-ahead bop favorites such as Kenny Burrell, Grant Green, Wes Montgomery and Joe Pass.......eclectic outlook is one of her strong points; her ability to move from a tough, aggressive blues-rock groove to a more cerebral, fusion-minded approach to the occasional soul-jazz/hard bop number has made for some very unpredictable albums.

I have been teaching full-time for the past 15years. I have taught all ages and popular styles. In 2008, my blues guitar method was published and distributed through Amazon.

*** Lesson Details ***
I incorporate a tailored curriculum to help people achieve their personal goals. Learning music is not a "one-size fits all" proposition. I can show you the songs that you want to play. I can also teach you music theory, technique, improvisation, reading and more. I adjust your course of study according to your areas of interest. If you are dying to learn a Led Zeppelin tune, or are planning on auditioning for a college level jazz guitar program, I can help you achieve these goals. I have taught hundreds of beginners along side more advanced students. My students have gone one to study music at GIT, Fullerton College, Pasadena City College, Berklee, Cal State LA, and USC.

Most of all, I am extremely patient. The ability to playing a musical instrument is measure on a calendar, not on a watch. I often work at a slow, systematic pace. I am generally very laid-back. On the other hand, if you learn very quickly, I can readily show you the skills you need to meet your goal. I have fast-tracked many individuals that were seeking admittance to an academic program.

My teaching studio is computer equipped. This allows me to incorporate computer software that enhances learning. One such program, Band in a Box, generates accompaniment for students so that they can work on their soloing skills. Another program can slow recorded music down so that the student can practice slowly with it. Also, I often give out play-along practice CDs for improved learning.

The aspect of performance is often not addressed by many. I am able to work with my guitar students while accompanying by performing live bass or drum parts, or work with bass students while playing the guitar or drum parts. This allows the student to understand his or her roll in an live band.

*** Studio Equipment ***

Since then I have recorded and toured around the world with such artists as, Gary Allan, Delaney Bramlett, Greg London and the Rich Harper Band to name a few. I believe on keeping music fun and tailor my lessons to accommodate exactly what each student is trying to achieve.

*** Lesson Details ***
My philosophy is to keep music fun. I have a laid back style of teaching but I expect my students to practice and bring their "A" game to every lesson. I try to always keep students engaged, challenged and motivated depending on their specific goals. After 6 months with me you can expect to know how to read dru
m music and have a grasp of playing various beats on the drum kit. I also talk about playing musically with other musicians and how to get gigs and keep those gigs with your talent and positive attitude towards those that you will work with.

*** Studio Equipment ***
The studio lessons in the teacher's home are taught in the finished garage with a complete studio, sound room, and a drum set. Seating is available and room is air conditioned. Parking is on the street.

Tapp's: The studio includes small private rehearsal rooms with a room that includes 2 electronic drum sets.

Joan was very dependable, always on time for lessons and always flexible with her scheduling. She also assisted in purchasing a drumset for my son. She is a great teacher for my daughter. My daughter suffers from adhd, and Sarah is very patient with my daughter. My daughter has had 3 lessons from Sarah so far and I couldn't be happier with the results so far. On top of everything, Sarah has been patient with me as well, answering questions as I have no knowledge of drums. She has even saved me money by telling me what to buy for my daughter, and what to hold off on for now. I would definitely recommend Sarah.

I can tell that he feels no pressure and I think he is picking things up well, I am impressed with what he can do so far. He wants to keep learning with Sarah and I am happy to support that. My experience spans over 25 years of performing and teaching every drumming style. Each lesson will include period of rudimental work, rhythm reading, and playing different styles behind the drum set. I believe in creating an environment that is focused on playing music well and where the student can have fun while gaining confidence. It is important to develop drummers into functional musicians with good technique, reading skills, and time. We will cover all styles of drumming from jazz to rock/pop, including funk, progressive, all of the Latin styles, even hybrid drumming and other percussion as desired.

About Mariano
My experience as a performer and teacher ranges from early music to today's rock and pop, including various percussion instruments from around the world. When studying for my bachelors and masters degrees in music, I did course work in music recording, jazz studies, and music history. In addition, I incorporate my knowledge of development, physics, and other sciences into my instruction. I can discuss playing music with beginners to professionals as we pursue opportunities in the music industry and education to develop functional musicians with creative outlets as students are able to explore any area or level of music. Some of my students have gone onto college music programs and high school programs such as OCHSA while others are enjoying playing music with friends. The goal is to take a student's excitement for music and percussion in
a direction that will feedback into more learning and a drive to explore more styles of music.

Mariano was an amazing percussion and drum set teacher. His lessons were engaging and productive, and he was always able to communicate an idea or musical concept in a way that I was able to understand and connect with. After about 2 years of lessons I was accepted into the Orange County School of the Arts for percussion and I owe my success to the lessons I took with Mariano. I continued lessening throughout high school and my skill level contined to grow. What I loved about Mariano's teaching was his unique ability to take very simple exercises and make them more difficult and therefore much more beneficial. Along with stressing the importance of basic technique, he would constantly inteoduce me to new things - Afro beats, traditional grip, Latin beats, new ways to sight read, and 4 mallet marimba technique. I would highly suggest taking lessons with Mariano if you are looking for a fun, encouraging teacher who has lots of experience with a variety of percussion performance!

Any genre, any song. Teaching for 20 years. I tailor each lesson to the needs/goals of every student.

For beginners, I can write easy versions of your favorite songs for you, while giving you a well balanced music education.

For more advanced players, I can show you how to play almost any drum part, and show you tips on how to figure out drum parts by ear and make your own.

Since I play other instruments, I can show you how to jam to anything and sound good while having a blast!

For children, I make lessons fun and varied with learning and musical games to keep them excited and engaged.

For everyone, I can teach you the most efficient ways to learn any musical skill based on experience and leading scientific books on learning, while keeping lessons fun!

About Mike
I've studied piano and other instruments for 30 years, have been teaching music for 20, and have been a full time professional musician and music teacher for 11 years.

As a musician who was raised on classical piano but has also spent his life playing in bands, jamming, and composing in several genres, I believe that a well-rounded musical education is not only practical, but that it brings out the most enjoyment in music.

I also believe in teaching students whatever they love whether it's classical, rock, pop, jazz, world music, or a mix of everything! The more they love it, the more they will practice, and in turn the more they will love how they have improved - a circle of awesomeness!

As a professional musician, I play over 130 shows a year throughout North America as lead singer-guitarist for Celtic Rock group The Whiskeydicks, a
s the touring pianist for classical crossover group Vivace, as a solo singer-guitarist-pianist, and as the lead singer-guitarist-pianist-composer for my own symphonic-rock-fusion group, The Living. I've also toured extensively in Europe as keyboardist and backing vocalist for singer-songwriter Melanie Dekker.

My compositions have been performed by the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra, The Plastic Acid Orchestra, Turning Point Ensemble, Ad Mare Wind Quintet, Vivace, The Living, The Whiskeydicks and cellist-singer-songwriter Cris Derksen.

I have a B.Mus in Piano and Music Composition from The University of British Columbia. I'm an IVA Certified Level I Voice Instructor and have studied Vocals with John Henny, Jeffrey Skouson, Guy Babusek, and Spencer Welch; piano with Terence Dawson, David Vandereyk, and Ross Taggart; composition with Dorothy Chang, Keith Hamel, and Armanini; drums with Jay Deachman and Morgan Childs; bass with David Spidel; and accordion with Jelena Milojevic.

I've just moved to LA from Vancouver where I had about 40 students, so this is the time to sign up as I have room for new students for the first time in years!

A gifted musician and teacher, Mike makes learning to play the guitar (or piano) a fun journey. His enthusiasm is infectious, and his knowledge of multiple instruments and musical genres makes him a well-rounded instructor who can adapt to each child's interests and goals. I have been amazed at the progress my son has made this year on the guitar. He was even inspired to start vocal lessons half way through the year.

Mike Bell is an excellent musician and a great music teacher across numerous instruments. He has the ability to get kids motivated to practice and to have fun playing the music they enjoy. We especially love the concerts where all the students get to perform in front of an audience at a real live venue rather than a stuffy recital hall. Mike is definitely the coolest music teacher in town!

Mike is a wonderful piano teacher. I started lessons with him after a bad experience with another teacher. Mike immediately restored my confidence with his patient and attentive method of teaching. Most of all, he has a way of making me enthusiastic about learning more by continuously adapting the speed and contents of the lessons to my need. I wouldn’t want any other piano teacher.

I have 17 years of experience playing and studying drums, and I look forward to sharing that with you! I'm a flexible & fun teacher who likes to see my students succeed.

I like to tailor lessons to whatever your goals are. We can learn one of your favorite songs, I can teach you drum-set exercises to improve your coordination, or we can practice rudiments to ensure you've got a great drumming foundation.

Please feel free to message me a question!

About Kevin
I'm a full-time musician, recording artist, and studio drummer who has been studying and playing for over 17 years.

I played in the UCLA jazz and latin jazz programs, as well as in the UCLA marching band. Since then I've been a part of a group called Sure Sure. I write, record, and perform live all of our drum and percussion parts; we currently have 140,000 monthly listeners on Spotify.

I like to tailor your lesson to whatever your goals are. I can teach you rudiments, we can learn one of your favorite songs, or I can show you exercises to improve your skill. I'm happy to talk about your drumming goals and then create a lesson plan to help you get there.

I look forward to hearing from you!

Kevin has been teaching my daughter Ellie for 9 months now. I found him through an old UCLA friend who's also part of the music scene here in LA. Ellie started as a percussionist in her middle school concert band and used to bang around on the set after rehearsals, but now that she's in 7th grade she decided to join the jazz ensemble. So we wanted to get her proper training on the drum kit. She always looks forward to her sessions with Kevin (we try to fit in a weekly session around club soccer and chess - yes, I'm breeding a Renaissance Woman), and she has seen astronomical growth in her abilities since she started with him last summer. As a musician myself, I can tell you that Kevin is a consummate drummer (check out his band Sure Sure!!) and teacher, not to mention a responsible (and hilarious) young man. He really emphasizes control and syncopation with Ellie, and her band teacher has been super impressed with her growing talents. Rumor has it she's even getting a drum solo at the spring concert...

Hi! My name is Sanjay, and I've been playing drums for over 16 years now. I will teach drummers of most levels, from those who are complete beginners to those who have been playing for some years but are looking for the push to really take their drumming to the next level. We will tailor your lessons to your specific goals so that you progress exactly how you want to, and so that none of your time is wasted on learning things that you won't actually use. Whether you'd like to learn songs by your favorite bands, develop better technique, explore new genres, work on your speed, dynamics, and independence, or work on your ability to be creative and write your own music, I can help you identify what it is you need to work on to become the drummer you'd like to be, and the most effective way to achieve that goal. Shoot me a message and we can discuss what it is you'd like to achieve, and we'll see if we're a good fit!

About Sanjay
Music is my passion, and I've been playing drums for about 16 years and guitar for about 9, and have a deep interest for music of all genres, especially rock, jazz, hip-hop, r&b, and alternative. In high school, I played on my school's drumline, and learned immeasurable lessons about technique, and about how to practice in the most effective and efficient ways possible, to meet the strict demands of the marching style of drumming, eventually becoming the captain of my drumline. At the same time, I began playing in bands with my friends, learning how to channel creativity through the instrument while writing songs, and simultaneously learning many of the skills (such as recording, mixing, engineering, playing live) that nicely balanced the theoretical and technical things I learned on the drumline. I attended UCLA, receiving a B.S. in Neur
oscience in 2017, and during my time there, I was able to take a plethora of classes on music theory, music history, music production, and had the opportunity to learn from some of the most well-renowned and well-employed studio musicians in the Los Angeles area. While I have the theoretical and technical background to ensure that you're learning things in a structured, thoughtful, and efficient manner, I won't bog you down with the intellectual side of music if that isn't what you want. Instead, I want to focus on helping you create art, and improving your abilities to the point that they won't hinder your ability to express yourself through music.
