Struggling with writing? Reading? Getting your ideas and concepts out there for others to enjoy? Try a few lessons and see if your world doesn't open up!

About Marsha
And... it is summer. There are lots of things and people we LOVE. I like to focus on those good feelings, and music that uplifts and enriches. We are really working on our OWN music compositions this month.

Goals: Since I am also a Life Coach, we really focus on how to accomplish our hopes and desires. We begin by weekly, then monthly and even a yearly goal.

Each week we also focus on something in my STUDENT PAL - mnemonic. Another is TECHNIQUE. Technique is the ability to have proper position, wrist-lifts and finger curve as well as Theoretic knowledge and application.

I started giving out lickable gold stars, you know, the old-fashioned kind? They are for those students who mark their lesson sheet and come prepared... They really seem to enjoy that, and I adore the nostalgia!

It is a great week when students are
nearly all prepared and ready for their lessons. This makes both Coach and student more effective and the time together more enjoyable.

Perhaps you are reading this with both a little excitement and a little concern. Finding the right person for your or your student can be intimidating. A short introduction follows so that you know a little about me and my philosophy which can assist you make an informed decision. If we are a good fit, lessons and learning progress more joyfully.

I have been teaching music, performing music and enjoying music since I was a tiny three-year old. My first piano lessons were at age seven. I have since taught the students of former students! How fun is that?

Music has blessed my life in countless ways and given me opportunities I'd never dreamed of. Teaching at the Young Artists Conservatory of Music; Singing in Carnegie Hall, Performing across Europe and teaching the best students for over 25 years has been a delight.

I believe strongly that those who spend their time and resources for musical education are some of the brightest and most intelligent people around. Each of my students have their own individual goals and reasons for taking music lessons, which we revisit monthly. I believe that my role is to be a support and tool for them/you to accomplish the goals set, working with music that delights and educates.

You want the best teacher, who offers information, example, practice and performance opportunities and then gets out of the way of the student's own "voice" (whether playing or singing) so that they can be free to create their own style.

*** Lesson Details ***
In our lessons, we work with a predictable schedule of balance. We have weekly exercises to make strong fingers and or voices, and technique and theory practice to hone skills that will improve our performances, whether they are for others or for our own benefit. Each student of piano can learn how to create and write their own music in time, choose their own pieces to work on, and have a say in their classical and performance goals.

We have a program of advancement, so you and your loved ones can visually see your progress and measure your skills, complete with awards and trophies.

What you learn, has everything to do with your commitment. Practice doesn't make perfect, Practice makes permanent. Only perfect practice makes perfect.

Learning the piano ought to be a JOY. I believe in playing the piano, not 'practicing' it. Enjoy what you do, and you'll do it longer and with celebration instead of duty.

*** Studio Equipment ***
Piano - upright; CD player; Music stands; Dozens of music books and lesson materials; flash cards; computer and music writing program; mic and mirror, syllabus.

*** Travel Equipment ***
No travel.

*** Specialties ***
Over the years I have dabbled in most methods, but finally come to use my own syllabus and musicianship. I can easily adapt to your favourite if that is your desire. I specialize in a total music education, not merely in learning notes. It is like looking in a mirror and only seeing eyes and skin. Music has many facets and we discover all of them.

About Jason N.
¡Hola! ¡Bienvenido! Hello and Welcome!

my name's Jason and I love Spanish and Latin America.

I'm currently a doctoral student. I majored in Spanish at University of California, Davis, lived in Mexico for 3 years where I completed a Master's degree in Counseling, studied Spanish Literature and Psychology at the University of Costa Rica for 7 months and have traveled around a few other Latin American Countries.

My goal is to tailor the lessons to what best helps you learn. I can do conversation classes and academic ones too. I have a lot of material and activities to facilitate fun learning. My command of the language is almost native. I prefer to work with those who really want to learn, just so we both use our time wisely. I work best with those who already have a base in Spanish but want to prefect their knowledge of proverbs
, sayings, jokes, cultural aspects of Spanish, grammar, vocabulary, conjugation, listening and overall language skills. That said, I can work with anyone at any level of Spanish, and have experiences with students from ages 5 to 67.

Jason inspired me to have a break-through with my Spanish. As a nurse with many Hispanic patients, after only 3 classes with Jason, I successfully triage'd a patient using almost all Spanish. I was pretty stoked about the whole thing. It was a really good confidence boost to not only use it and be understood by the lady, but I understood her too. Not every little word, mind you, but I was able to pick out a lot of the context and figure out what was going on. Working with Jason makes me feel like I'm opening up a whole new avenue in my practice, even after 15 years of repetition. I have Jason to thank for this and it's just boosted me towards learning more.

Jason is a quality Spanish teacher. Not only does he have a native command of the language (as verified by my Latino co-worker), but Jason is also a skilled language instructor. Two attributes of Jason that I particularly value are his attention to detail and the way he highlights language patterns to facilitate learning. It is evident that Jason has a huge passion for teaching Spanish.

Jason was extremely helpful in teaching. We went over many topics and he had a strong command on all. Not only does he know the language inside and out, but he also makes it fun. I can have basic conversations in Spanish now because of him. I also appreciate Spanish-speaking culture more too.

This native speaker prides herself on proper English speaking and comprehension. Writing in English is also offered.

About Anabelle
When did you begin playing [instrument], and why?:

I've been singing since I was about 8. I began to play piano when I was a teenager, because many of my classmates were very skilled at the piano, and I became inspired to be like them.

What are your personal goals as a musician?:

I love opera, and my goal is to compose my own. I plan on working closely with the librettist, since I'm a poet as well.

Do you have a memory of a time when a musical concept or technique really clicked? Something you'll remember forever?:

I never knew what perfect pitch was until I was much older. I also didn't realize I had perfect pitch until a professor at an audition made me aware of my ability. Since then, it's become a wonderful tool.

What is your favorite piece of advice from one of your past (or current) teachers?:

Being compassion
ate with a student will allow them to fearlessly open up to their potentials.

What was your most challenging moment learning an instrument?:

In the winter months, my body feels tight and cold, and sometimes this causes tension during playing or singing. That's why to me it's important to work in a warm environment, do proper daily stretching, and have a healthy lifestyle (good diet, exercise, proper sleep).

What is your biggest musical achievement?:

Composing a fugue.

Favorite thing about teaching?:

I love sharing my passion for music with other human beings.

What is a piece of advice you would like to share with anyone learning music?:

If at first you don't succeed, try try again. Music is meant to be fun, enjoy it!

Personal music projects: i.e. bands, groups, shows, recording, etc. (if any):

In 2015, I composed the music for my sister's walk down the aisle (wedding piece). Additional compositions underway, member of American Composer's Forum, member of Contemplum (composition club at Temple), participant in the Oticons Film Score Contest.

BIO:

About Anabelle...

Anabelle has been involved with sounds and music from an early age. Her greatest forte is her hearing. When she was young, people thought she might become a voice actor, because her skill at replicating voices was quite apparent. Still, she loved to sing and had been regularly involved in choirs. She dabbled in violin in the fifth grade, but she didn't feel a "click." Without despairing, she tried her luck with piano and felt instantly in sync. She knew this was the right instrument for her. During her piano studies, she continued to work on her voice. In addition, she studied the workings of a sound board, and was head sound chief at her high school. At the college level, she began to pursue composition, while still continuing with piano and vocal studies. She holds an A.A. with a music focus (piano performance), a B.M. in music theory, and a M.M in music education from Boston University. She has been teaching music since 2006 and has worked with a wide range of ages and various group sizes. Her joy is working with people in a field that she is passionate about. Her interests include music (jazz, classical, opera, new age), ballet, composition, yoga, meditation, going to the gym, hiking and camping, scuba-diving, sailing,Traditional Chinese Medicine and acupuncture, cooking and baking, film-editing, sound engineering, poetry, reading good books, building websites, and watching documentaries.

I specialize with English for Japanese learners, but I will take teach everyone who wants to get better. I just say that because I know Japanese, so I have a unique perspective for Japanese learners. We can cover any questions you have, but I think one of the most effective things I can do is to facilitate lots of conversation.
Most people just need more conversation to get better, and so I want to help foster an environment where students can speak A LOT, get out of their shell, make mistakes, and make their speaking more fluent.

We can come up with topics or media to help assist is in knowing what to talk about, or have things to talk about. I'm always open to questions, but I think that the most relevant questions will come from their experiences trying things out and wondering how "this" or "that" is said. I spent two years talking to thousands of Japanese in and around Tokyo as a missionary, and that's what I've found to be most effective. I have since worked for a ...

About Richard
My goal is to help students ENJOY the piano by finding ways to make it easier and doable. I have a very useful approach in helping students become self sufficient to sight read very well, to see patterns, understand music theory to either help them play well, or to even create their own music(I compose a lot of great music as well)

I couldn't sight read very well until I was 16, but I had a great sight reading teacher that showed me how to develop it, and now I can say that I'm one of the best sight readers out there that I know. I was a ballet pianist at Brigham Young University for several years where all I did was sightread binders full of ballet/classical music. I play for choirs, church congregations, jazz bands, or musical jam sessions all the time, and I couldn't do that at all if I didn't learn how to sight read well.
I would love to help you learn the piano, and I will do my best to make learning as effective as possible. I especially enjoy teaching those who quit and would like to try again, because I know what that is like.

Concerning my musical background, I've played, arranged, and composed piano for choirs, bands, jazz combos, singers. I've been in bands all my life, and have composed for jazz bands, choirs, and orchestras at BYU and in Eastern Europe. I also play about 10 different instruments. I won two Student Emmys in Hollywood for my compositions to BYU's animations in 2010 & 2014.

I am currently writing music for video games.

My name is Guy, and I have been teaching English as a Foreign Language (EFL) to students and business professionals for 7+ years.

I hold a Bachelor's degree in Teaching English as a Second Language (TESL) and a Master's degree in Linguistics. I have taught English to top executives at Yahoo!,
Rakuten, Kobo, Nikkei, DMM, NTT Corp., Yamada-Denki, and more.

As an experienced teacher, I understand how students learn and retain new information.

What's the secret?

The truth is, there isn't any secret. Learning English is very difficult. However, there are two things you must do:

1. Study English every day (listen, speak, read, and write).
Constant exposure is an absolute MUST when it comes to acquiring a new language. I work with each student to create a catered learning program to improve all 4 primary language skills: listening, speaking, reading, and writing.

The second ‘secret’ to learning a new language is to write—every day. All of my students have notebooks, and they all write daily. It's a simple method, but it works. During our first meeting together, we will discuss how to use writing exercises to improve other areas, such as listening, speaking, reading, and pronunciation.

My students include high school, undergraduate, and graduate students; young children; and adult speakers of all levels.

Whatever your language needs, I have the tools and tactics you need to improve your English and become more fluent.

I also teach drums and acoustic guitar to Beginner and Intermediate students at my home studio in Sebastian, FL.

Teacher Guy taught me English when I first came to the U.S. back in 2014. I was working for a financial company at the time, and my English was so bad that I almost never spoke to my coworkers. What Teacher Guy did for me was deconstruct the language learning process and show me how to learn the English language from the "top down" as a native speaker would. At our first meeting, Teacher Guy explained that this is the way children learn their language. Babies and young children are not taught grammar rules, but they learn grammar, vocabulary, and pronunciation in the context. And guess what! It worked for me! By the end of that year, I was so comfortable in my "new skin" that I began speaking during meetings at work and I made friends with many native speakers all thanks to Teacher Guy's lessons. I think Teacher Guy uses a special and highly effective teaching method that combines natural conversation with reading and speaking practice. Teacher Guy gave me a writing assignment every week and it was always enjoyable. He used the writing assignment to measure my progress and teach me better ways to make some expressions. Teacher Guy has an impressive ability to hear pronunciation mistakes and always corrected me in a gentle way. He would say "Can you repeat that again?" not "You said that phrase incorrectly." I would highly recommend Teacher Guy's lessons if you are serious about learning English and becoming a more fluent English speaker.

My mother was an amazing teacher and I have had the privilege to observe and learn from her example. I myself come from a background where English was technically my second language. Learning Spanish first through emersion made learning English that much more challenging. But through preserverance, skill building, and repetition my English is probably stronger then my first language, Spanish.

I am a Entrepreneur. I graduated with multiple digrees in biblical studies, medical administration, and business management.

English and math students can expect to improve week to week in their skills. Every student is unique; I teach students to rely on repetition and. apply foundational skills in order to unlock their own individual potential. I can help any student to achieve their highest potential with confidence.
