Saxophone is my primary instrument and the one I am the most excited about. I've been teaching saxophone for a year and my students have gone on to perform in area-all-state competitions and concerts in the NY area. Within the first few lessons, you'll be able to play a few folk songs and as time goes on you'll be able to read treble clef. I specialize in classical, typically use Tune-A-Day or Jump Right In books, and have the following tools available for your lessons: metronome, and laptop. I love working with students of all ages and experience levels and I can't wait to meet you!

With over 20 years as a professional saxophonist and 15 years teaching experience I know the demands of a performing musician professionally and academically. I teach students how to produce a good tone quality with characteristic vibrato. I can teach students to become good at reading music. Students who are interested in jazz or pop styles of music will be taught improvisation techniques and how to play by ear.
About Carl
As far back as I can remember I have always enjoyed performing music. I can remember during my elementary school years how I would play drums during church service. Some days I would sneak in my dad's closet to play his saxophone. I began learning how to play saxophone in middle school and by the t

Rick’s main instrument is saxophone and he teaches amazing jazz improvisation lessons so for anyone who wants to learn how to improvise, there’s no better teacher. If you want jazz sax lessons, I’ve heard some of his students and they are amazing players in a short amount of time. You would be wise to at least check him out for yourself."

Learning how to play saxophone starts with the right equipment--namely, a quality neck strap! Read on for some helpful advice from Brookings, SD teacher Carl S... The saxophone is a unique instrument for many reasons. One example is that the saxophone is the only band instrument that uses a neck strap. Unfortunately, the neck strap is often the most overlooked aspect of playing the instrument. One of the first things that I stress to a new student is the importance of the neck str …
