I have been teaching harp for over 10 years. I teach with a strong emphasis in technique, employing mostly Salzedo styles with a few French styles in hand and arm position.

I have a series of books from which I teach for all ages, all abilities. At any point I encourage the student to learn songs they like, creating an enriched atmosphere of learning.

I teach music theory, exercises, and sight-reading alongside our weekly studies of pieces and songs. I will help you find the right materials so you can enjoy your lessons!

It is my goal to have students perform pieces with comfort, strength and for memory.

My teaching philosophy is to cultivate a love for music while learning the best way to approach the instrument and learning how to play well. Like any good goal, hard work and patience are needed, but ultimately love and the pursuit of making music.

About Elizabeth

Elizabeth L. has studied music from the age of six. At nine, she began taking harp lessons with Elizabeth Motter, formerly of the Illinois Symphony and currently of the Cincinnati Symphony. Elizabeth spent many summers furthering her studies at various harp camps around the world. In the summer

Caitie
My daughter Caitie very much enjoyed her harp lesson with Elizabeth last week. She usually detests “online lessons” primarily because the instructor has not spent enough time tailoring his or her didactic teaching methods to the specific limitations and practicalities of the computer camera and the internet transmission ability. I was actually shocked (happily) when she boasted how talented Elizabeth is in her online teaching abilities. She stated that “WOW! She is a true professional - she truly understands how to teach online by articulating and directing very clearly.”
Priscilla Marotta
Articulate and enthusiastic teacher. Elizabeth is invested in meeting each student’s goals. She is pleasant and warm.

The harp has honestly taught me so many valuable lessons and I would not be the same person without it. I highly recommend it because it is a glorious instrument that will change your life. You will learn technique, theory, dynamics, and different styles of playing the harp. Anyone can play the harp regardless of age. I would say a lesson with me is encouraging, yet challenging. I would you to fall in love with the harp, just as much as I am in love with it and I also want you to feel as though you are being stretched. Happy harping!

I can't recommend lessons with Tori highly enough!

I've been obsessed with oil painting, and every kind of 2D visual art, for as long as I can remember, but I never really believed in myself to do it until I worked with Tori.

My drawing, painting, and even my 3D work progressed more, and more quickly, working with Tori than they had in years

Thank you Tori!!!!
Lisa
My three boys (ages 11-15) loved working with Tori. We still have the block print-making pieces, paintings and charcoal drawings displayed in our kitchen. Their favorite project was creating plaster casts of their own faces. Tori is very thoughtful, patient and has a great zen energy. I highly recommend Tori!

"Anne is a fantastic teacher who brings so much warmth, patience, and skill to each lesson! She took me from a complete novice who didn't even know how to properly pluck a string to being able to impress family and friends with familiar songs. She doesn't have you go out and spend a ton on books or materials either, which I've experienced while learning other musical instruments. Anne provides very detailed assignment notes with each lesson too, which she then emails so you can have something tangible to refer to while practicing instead of having to take notes yourself or keep it all in your head somehow. Highly recommend taking lessons from one of the best!"

"I have known Pam Irwin for the past 14 years. I remember praying to find instrumental music teachers for my daughters when they were in the first and third grades. I was looking to find flute and harp teachers and was thrilled to find an extremely qualified and caring teacher for both of them! Pam is a multitalented, skilled musician who has many years of experience in teaching private music lessons. She was the only teacher for my girls for harp and flute and took them from the beginning to the advanced levels. She was especially gifted in working with my daughters to play duets together. Pam utilized recitals as well as numerous other opportunities to perform at churches, orchestras, weddings, and other social events of which they have continued on their own. Pam instilled a lifelong love of music in my daughters and their music education has continued to the present while they are in college. I highly recommend Pam Irwin as a top choice music instructor for children, youth, and adults of any age."

"Diane was my first harp teacher. I had lessons with her for approximately 5 years before she relocated to another state. She is incredibly talented and experienced in all aspects of harp knowledge and performance. She is trained and qualified to provide harp vibration therapy to patients in the hospital setting, as well as in hospice settings. She is a patient and encouraging teacher. At the same time, she is dedicated to instructing her students in proper positions, form, and technique as well as the musical nuances to ensure not only the beautiful sounds from the harp, but beautiful hand positions and movements as the harpist plays. Highly recommend Diane Schneider as an excellent harp teacher."

"Sonja’s enthusiasm for the harp and for music, in general, is contagious! Sonja has a lot of patience for beginning harp players. She offers a good mix of “performance” pieces and exercises to keep the practices (and lessons!) both fun and moving in the right direction! After watching me play for only a few minutes, Sonja has the distinct ability of being able to determine where and how I can instantly improve, which she always offers in a positive, constructive format. Sonja makes me feel like I can conquer any piece. I would highly recommend Sonja to anyone considering harp lessons!!"
