My class focuses on the use and understanding of movement execution as well as ballet vocabulary. The class will start with a ballet barre, then move to center work, and across the floor. Younger students will be taught with the effective use of imagery for movement and older students will focus on the anatomy of the body. Students will be expected to bring a journal to each lesson to note vocabulary and movement combinations and review outside of lessons.
Briana has enjoyed teaching since she was a teaching assistant at Detroit Windsor Dance Academy, her high school dance studio. Since then she has taught students within Washington DC Public Schools, the University of Michigan Recreation Center, the Capitol Hill Arts Workshop, Morton Street Dance Center, District Dance Arts, as well as many other studios and non-profit organizations. Teaching allows her to express herself, pass on her knowledge and experiences and inspire students to develop their technique, creativity, individuality and showmanship.
There is never a dull moment in Briana’s classes! Her specific classes and lesson plans are catered to specific age groups from Pre-K to adults. They consist of engaging movement activities, warm-up, and complex movement combinations. She is an energetic and patient teacher who seriously
takes into account the needs and skill level of the student in preparing her lesson plans and material.
Briana’s use of dance vocabulary and physical demonstrations allow her to teach the material accurately and effectively. Her positive attitude and constant words of encouragement keep students motivated and engaged in the lesson. Students will increase their knowledge and physical vocabulary of the movement style and leave each lesson a better dancer, performer and person.
She received her Bachelor’s of Fine Arts in Dance and Bachelors of Arts in Sociology from the University of Michigan in May of 2013 and has had a wide range of professional experience. She has worked with and performed works by modern dance choreographers such as Lindsey Merchant, Melissa Beck, Germaul Barnes, Jessica Fogel, Christopher Huggins, Shen Wei and Dianne McIntyre. She was artistic director of a chapter of the international hip-hop dance company Dance2XS International.
Briana was a full-time company member with StepAfrika!, a professional stepping company in Washington, DC from 2013-2015 and currently, she is working with CityDance resident artist S.J. Ewing & Dancers. Briana has had the privilege of performing at DC's City Rhythms Festival, Catholic Universities Hartke Theater, the Hill Center, the VelocityDC Festival, the Guantanomo Bay Naval Base as well as others. Recently she was invited to perform a modern dance solo in Dance Place’s 2014 New Releases Choreographers Showcase and Joy of Motions 2014 Dance Project Concert. Most recently, she served as the assistant choreographer on the American Theater’s Company’s production of The Project(s) in Chicago, IL, rated 4 stars by the Chicago Tribune. Most recently, she collaborated with Hard Soles Dance Company on a new piece titled “Re:set”, combining contemporary dance and body percussion, for the 2016 March on Washington Film Festival in honor of the 70th anniversary of the integration of the NFL and was chosen as Dance Place's 2016 New Releases Commission Recipient in support her new work to be premiered the summer of 2017.
Briana encourages students to bring writing materials to each lesson to take notes for any learned vocabulary and each lesson will follow with a recorded video of the movement for the students to refer to until the next lesson.
I'm extremely new to ballet and dance in general (for reference I'm 16). Briana was very patient and an amazing teacher! Very friendly and welcoming while still being very professional. It's great to get the exact corrections I need without feeling bad about it and yet still work on it until proper. Very happy and pleased!

My daughter had a great first session. She identified my daughters areas of weakness and began immediately to help improve them. Looking forward to our next session.

I am already worried that if I tell people how amazing Briana is that she will get too booked up for me :) She is a great instructor with a huge heart. Loved it.
My goals are to work on your coordination and flexibility along with proper ballet technique. All classes will be tailored to each student accordingly.
In home and in studio classes are a 1 hour minimum. Online lessons are also available at 30 and 45 minute durations please call takelessons to book.
Hey there! My name is Lindsay. I truly enjoy teaching everything in the realm of physical activity. I grew up dancing at Mark Spivaks Institute in Jacksonville, Florida. I studied under a Russian Prima ballerina. I played soccer. I swam. My lifestyle at a young age has reflected in my work as an adult. Nowadays I love yoga, hiking, running, art, and being a big sister! If I have one goal in my professional life it would be to inspire active living in today's youth. I completed my 450 hour pilates certification which compliments my teachings in every field due to the anatomical approach. Currently I work as a dance teacher, pilates instructor, yoga teacher and flexibility coach. My pa
ssion for movement will inspire you to achieve your goals. I love to make any positive difference to a client: in their day, in their body, in their outlook. I’m an eager student, so I’m constantly teaching new stuff I’ve recently learned. I look forward to meeting you and reaching the finish line- whatever that may be!
I am enthusiastic about teaching online lessons as well. I find that online training works amazingly well, and is extremely convenient for people with busy schedules.

I love taking my online classes with Lindsay! Having a really busy schedule, I thought at first this was an indulgence to have a class in the comfort of my own home, however I've rethought that since I've started. These are necessary to keeping, not just my physique in shape, but my ballet up to par, as well as my mental state of being calm, focused & happy. Lindsay is very skilled at shifting each class to what is best for me that day. She's skilled & knowledgeable, proficient, professional, friendly, fun & gives me a thorough workout! Thank you Lindsay!

Lindsay is very sweet and passionate about helping and teaching. She was very responsive and I had a lot of fun working with her.
I've studied ballet (eventually getting to pointe) on and off for seven years with a number of teachers using different technique standards. If ballet is something you'd like to try, or perhaps you're an actor looking for more movement training, I'd love to teach you! While I could teach up to an intermediate level, I prefer working with beginners one-on-one. Private lessons allows me to take the time to show you the ropes and proper technique without the pressure of a fast-paced classroom environment. This can be especially helpful for those who may be unsure about dancing in front of others or are coming at it past the "typical" ballet age and are yet to find a class that makes them feel at home! I have this problem myself and I am only in my 20's (a lot of ballet classes near me have mainly young teens as students)! So whatever your goals are with ballet, or if it's just something you want to try out, let's talk and make a plan for some training! I also love working with kids on ...
Hi! I'm Carissa, a working actor and playwright, and would love to work with you on your craft! I grew up heavily immersed in the arts from a young age. For Middle School and High School I attended one of the top Performing Arts schools in the State of California, where I was able to take classes such as ballet, tap, jazz, acting, and playwriting daily. After that, I earned a spot in, and graduated from, the BFA Acting program at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts. After taking a year to work professionally in theatre and television, I moved to Ireland to earn my MFA in Playwriting from The Lir Academy (an affiliate school of London's RADA). Teaching has been a big part of my life, from private study to running theatre camps for kids. I'm well versed in the drama school audition trail and would love to help you prepare fo
r this exciting time! I also offer playwriting lessons/critique, and beginner lessons in dance (ballet, jazz, tap). I look forward to hearing from you!
I'm really impressed!!! Carissa met all my expectations and even more. For a very short period of time, she has taught me how to improve my intonation by using positive phrases and believing in them. It really helps, I feel like I got her energy and positiveness. Thanks Carissa! Look forward to the next lesson!

Meet your dance instructor. I have my bachelors degree from Chapman University in Theatre & Dance. My training includes Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Modern, Folk Dance, Dance History, Hip-Hop, Musical Theatre, Improv, and Kinesiology, among other dance-related subjects.
I grew up in a small Illinois town. Lessons were few and far between, so I would copy dancing off of movies and videos in order to perform at local dances, or for other community events. As a youth, I took country line dancing classes. Always drawn to anything involving dance and movement, I auditioned and performed with a Disney Showcase Troupe. By high school, I was choreographing for the Show Choir, as well as, performing in theatrical productions, including the musical “The Wizard of Oz”.
Before graduating with my Bachelor’s degree in Theatre & Danc
e from Chapman University in Orange, California, I continued my study of many dance styles & techniques such as: Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Modern, Hip Hop, Ballroom, Dunham Technique, yoga/stretch, Dance Business & History. From 1996-2001 I performed a variety of dancing and singing roles in showcases and events such as “American Celebration” and “The Story of Rock n’ Roll”. While studying at Chapman, I accepted a position as historian, and eventually, vice president of the performing arts society (PASC).
When I wasn’t onstage, I could be found backstage working lights, sound, costuming, or stage management. I searched out other educational opportunities at Cypress College and the Taggart International School where I studied West African dance and Russian Ballet Technique. After performing a liturgical dance performance for my graduation ceremony, I toured the United States and a portion of Canada, researching dance around the world. This eventually led me to Jacmel, Haiti, where I studied cultural and social dances of the local people. After that I took up Bellydance and studied folk dancing in Chicago, Illinois.
Since 2001, I have taught classes for all ages from infants to adults. I have also studied child development and have a special love for bringing an adoration of the arts to the youngest artists in our communities. It is imperative that all my teachings highlight body positivity and the belief that everyone can dance. A life-long learner and dance aficionado, I continue my dance studies in Ballroom, Baroque Dance, and Scottish Country Dance. My influences include Isadora Duncan, Katherine Dunham, Sean Greene & Misty Copeland. I love being a part of the DA Dance Family.

My little just started dancing because her big sister dances. She is a shy one but warmed up to Miss Chrystie and loves tapping with her. She plays music that she loves and is helping her learn how to tap dance in a fun way!

Chrystie is so amazing! She's honest, fun, and dedicated to the kids!
I am a professional ballet dancer and I love to help students achieve "clean" un-stylized classical technique, whether they hope to gain admittance into top ballet schools, summer programs or audition for companies. I began training at age 3 and have experience with small and large schools. For my high school years, I trained with American Ballet Theatre's JKO School, where I received ABT certification to teach Levels Pre-Ballet - 3, then did my post secondary training with Canada's National Ballet School in Toronto. Since graduating, I have danced with Les Grands Ballet Canadiens in Montreal and Semperoper Ballett in Dresden, Germany. I would be more than happy to share tips and encourage any age student as they reach for their individual goals.
Levels Taught: Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced
I love sharing the beautiful classical art of ballet with young students! I like to keep class fun while gently helping students retain habits that encourage a language of clean classical technique through proper form, allowing them to work towards their creative potential. I received my early training starting at 2 1/2 in my hometown of Philadelphia and moved to New York after receiving an invitation to study with the JKO School at age 16. I furthered my training after graduation in Toronto with Canada's National Ballet School. SInce then I have danced professionally in Canada, Germany and Denmark. I am currently pursuing my interest in artistic collaborations with contemporary visual artists. When not dancing or working on photography and video projects, I enjoy sewing and design
Isabelle is a great listener and made me feel much more confident after a few classes. She knows how to make me work so the classes were worthwhile. I feel like I improved and had fun! Five stars!
September 24, 2019
I took a few classes with Isabelle this past year and she was so approachable and easy to talk to. She made me work hard but it was a fun session each time! I felt like I made progress. Five stars!
September 23, 2019
Isabelle was so patient with me and really broke down the steps. She also helped me understand which muscles to strengthen (and how) so I feel like I can understand how to get to where I want to be. Highly recommend!
I grew up in Denmark in Europe and have spent my whole life dancing with The Royal Danish Ballet. I've danced every ballet in the book; Swan lake, Nutcracker, Sleeping Beauty, Alice in Wonderland and about one hundred more and worked with countless of choreographers, instructors and teachers and I absolutely love sharing my knowledge and my anecdotes from my fortunate career. Come and dance with me!
Born in Denmark and classically trained at The Royal Danish Ballet, she has performed hundreds of performances, all over the world including Palais Garnier in Paris, Mariinsky Theater in St. Petersburg, The Royal Opera House in Oman, The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington DC, Olso Opera House and the David Koch Theater in New York City. She has performed spectacular pieces such as Kylián’s Falling Angels, Balanchine’s Swan Lake, Bournonville’s Napoli and La Sylphide and Twyla Tharp’s Come Fly Away. Debuted as the Swan Queen in Balanchine’s Swan Lake at the Harris Theatre with Ballet Chicago. .
Benita understands how to teach passion and expression to others. She has the unique talent not only as a dancer herself but as a teacher to bring than on to her students. Very few teachers can do that.
To quote from Mozart in the jungle.
She dances/teaches with the blood.
I love ballet and I love teaching it. I've danced for 10 years and taught ballet for 4 years. I pay special attention to technic, but most importantly I teach a love of dance. I've only taught in person, so this is new to me, but I'm confident that I can help you learn to dance ballet!
I LOVE love love love love love teaching and I LOVE love love love love love ballet. I've taught any one and everyone ballet, from football players to toddlers to elderly ladies. I've been teaching ballet for four years! Come join Lorina's Ballerinas today, and learn a passion like no other!!

My love for dance grows far beyond my 20 years in the field, it has become apart of who I am and look forward to sharing that with you in a unique and exciting way! I am able to offer individualized and custom lessons that will tailor your experience to be one of a kind, ensuring you get the most out of your experience. Feel free to ask me about my exciting experiences including traveling all over the world for dance, as well as some of my experience teaching right here in my home state of North Carolina! Whether you’re 3 or 73, I’d love to teach you what the art of dance is all about.
