Very personable, easy to talk to, great listener, cater the lesson to the student's level and interest. I love finding out what music the student likes, so we can incorporate that into sax lessons! During the quarantine, I have enjoyed teaching via video chat, figuring out ways to get students excited about music, creating innovative methods to keep them motivated to practice.

About Kevin

I have played professionally 10 years and taught lessons 6 years. I love learning what my student's interests are, like favorite genre, artist and song, to inspire them to keep practicing and improving. I feel it's a balance between showing students the fun, creative side of music and teaching them

Kevin has been a fantastic teacher for my 10 year old son, who went from a casual interest in the saxophone to being excited to take lessons and practice almost every day. he keeps getting better and better with every lesson. Kevin is a very good teacher— patient, courteous and very encouraging. Would be good for a student of any age.

He’s also very easy to work with in scheduling lessons, easy communication and follow through. Highly recommend.

I have many unique experiences as a woodwind player and have a wide range of skills that I’m happy to pass onto my students! In particular, I believe that in order to perform it’s necessary to fully understand your instrument and I do not accept “pseudo-explanations” of what proper technique is or should be. I can help you learn anything you want about the saxophone by presenting information in a personal and easily digestible way!

I'm in 8th Grade and have been taking saxophone lessons with Bob for a year. He is friendly, patient, helpful and makes the lessons fun! I enjoy taking lessons with him because he's not too pushy but still challenges me enough to help me improve my skills. I would highly recommend him as a teacher!

Take lessons from Bob Campbell! Do it and you'll be rewarded with a fun, productive, and inspired musical experience that will enrich your life. Seriously. I've studied with Bob for several years and he is a creative and passionate teacher who can show you how to make the simplest exercises musical and interesting, while making more challenging pieces a pleasure to learn.

Bob is a talented, accomplished performer who shares his in-depth professional experience and broad knowledge of music history and culture to educate and motivate. During lessons, Bob has been known to relay stories from classical-era musicians’ lives, play passages from 1930s to current jazz musicians, and impart lessons from his own performance experiences. I'm so often amazed that he has yet another fascinating example or story to illuminate a topic and provide new understanding of a concept.

Bob is a learner-centric teacher who provides creative, deliberate plans and steps to move forward, but will change course if needed to enhance success. Since I started the saxophone later in life, he often mentions the “unique strengths of adult learners” and relates adult life-knowledge to learning musical concepts. Additionally, I have long struggled with confidence in music-making and Bob has come up with creative solutions to help me overcome my own “getting in the way” of music making while keeping me on task. Along the way he has been understanding, kind, and supremely patient while working through this challenge with me.

Bob brings a keen intellect, good sense of humor, and a relaxed and fun teaching style to his lessons. I feel fortunate to have an expert and steadfast guide who encourages me to explore and have fun with music while helping me gain knowledge and skills. Do yourself a favor and call Bob to guide you on your own musical journey.
Jon
I’ve been taking tenor sax lessons with Bob for over 5 years. When I started taking lessons with him, I couldn’t play at all, but I’ve made great progress and Bob has been instrumental (sorry!) in my improvement. In fact, I got good enough to play "Unforgettable" during the service at my daughter’s wedding and everyone both enjoyed it and thought it was quite meaningful. Bob is professional, motivating and friendly and I’ve truly enjoyed working with him. I would very highly recommend Bob to anyone of any age who is interested in lessons on a woodwind instrument.

The saxophone is easy to start on (if you know the right tricks) and tough to master. Wherever you are on your journey with the instrument, I've been there, and I can help. We'll sort out your fundamentals- tone, time, technique and intonation- while learning your favorite tunes and music I recommend for you based on what you like and want to learn. We improvise, compose, transcribe, and arrange so that you can understand music and express ideas fluently in any medium, the same way you can read, write and speak your native languages. The ultimate goal is to give you all the tools you need to create music you love- whether that means covering something you heard on Spotify or improvising new music from scratch.

I've played saxophone for over 15 years, studying first with Dann Zinn in the Bay Area, and then George Garzone and Shannon LeClaire at Berklee College of Music. I've taught the instrument and music to people since I was 18. I learned the instrument through an obsession with ...

I have studied saxophone, jazz piano/theory, and songwriting with Ethan for over 2 years, and he is the best music instructor I've ever had. He cares so much about his students and helps us thrive. Not only is Ethan my teacher, he is a friend and a mentor.

I first met Ethan through my school's jazz combo program, and my interest in music immediately grew in the presence of his friendly persona. Ethan organized life changing jam sessions and master classes that I will remember forever. His teaching approach is project based which gives his students something to walk away with. With his guidance, I have become a stronger musician and a wiser person. Thanks Ethan!

"Lauren taught my son saxophone for 5 years, beginning with his very first lesson at age 9, and continuing throughout middle school. She was always very patient, reassuring, and encouraging. Lauren really helped to develop my son's love for music and playing the sax! She prepared him for middle school jazz band auditions, and helped with his jazz band music throughout those years. Lauren challenged him with new selections when his school band music became too easy, but always allowed him to work at a pace he found comfortable. Now in HS, he's very busy with all things band, so lesson time is limited for him, but we wouldn't hesitate to call Lauren again."

Choosing a Neck Strap | How to Play Saxophone Tips

Learning how to play saxophone starts with the right equipment--namely, a quality neck strap!
