About Trevor
Every musician was first and foremost a fan of music. My love of
music began when my mother took me to a performance of Beethoven's
fifth symphony when, coincidentally, I was five. From that point, I
started fervently listening to my mother's records (those are the
huge, black monstrosities that people in the pre-historic used in
place of iPods), followed closely by my father's CD collection.
After a while, this ravenous desire of to know and feel music moved
me to play an instrument. After a couple of false starts with the
drums and violin, I found my true musical calling: the guitar.

On January 25th 1995, on a whim, I began playing the
guitar, and I have yet to put it down. Along the way I've picked up
a number of friends for my guitar, including the bass, the lute, the
sitar and, once again, the drums. After on
ly a few years of
practice, I started playing professionally, in bands and solo guitar.
Live playing experience, I believe, is the most important experience
that any musician can have, in that, the most important part of music
is how it sounds, and playing in front of people is the quickest way
to learn how to play effectively. And this is what I teach; how to
be a musician, not just a technician.

*** Lesson Details ***
A student can expect a curriculum tailor-made to their needs and personality. Every person learns differently and this is an important distinction in my teaching style. Some students need a strong hand to keep them working, others need to find many different ways to the same conclusion to keep them focused, while still others need a laid-back friend in order to accept knowledge.

I stress rhythmic literacy, for, as my jazz teacher always said, "rhythm is king." If composition is important to you, then we'll focus on music theory, but if you're just wanting to learn how to play some fun rock tunes with your friends on the weekends, we can do that as well. As I stated before, we'll get you playing in front of people in no time.

*** Travel Equipment ***
I provide an amplifier, a loner guitar (if needed), staff and/or tablature paper, metronome, pens and paper for the lessons.

*** Specialties ***
Music theory and composition, guitar, bass, lute, beginner to intermediate piano
Classical, shred, blues, and rock guitar; renaissance lute; blues, rock and slap bass; composition of many styles; world music.

I would think the first lesson is always the hardest to start since as an instructor you don’t know what skill level you will be teaching. Trevor started the class asking what I wanted to accomplish and ended with lots of practice lessons for me to complete. Looking forward to more classes with him.

About Jason N.
¡Hola! ¡Bienvenido! Hello and Welcome!

my name's Jason and I love Spanish and Latin America.

I'm currently a doctoral student. I majored in Spanish at University of California, Davis, lived in Mexico for 3 years where I completed a Master's degree in Counseling, studied Spanish Literature and Psychology at the University of Costa Rica for 7 months and have traveled around a few other Latin American Countries.

My goal is to tailor the lessons to what best helps you learn. I can do conversation classes and academic ones too. I have a lot of material and activities to facilitate fun learning. My command of the language is almost native. I prefer to work with those who really want to learn, just so we both use our time wisely. I work best with those who already have a base in Spanish but want to prefect their knowledge of proverbs
, sayings, jokes, cultural aspects of Spanish, grammar, vocabulary, conjugation, listening and overall language skills. That said, I can work with anyone at any level of Spanish, and have experiences with students from ages 5 to 67.

Jason inspired me to have a break-through with my Spanish. As a nurse with many Hispanic patients, after only 3 classes with Jason, I successfully triage'd a patient using almost all Spanish. I was pretty stoked about the whole thing. It was a really good confidence boost to not only use it and be understood by the lady, but I understood her too. Not every little word, mind you, but I was able to pick out a lot of the context and figure out what was going on. Working with Jason makes me feel like I'm opening up a whole new avenue in my practice, even after 15 years of repetition. I have Jason to thank for this and it's just boosted me towards learning more.

Jason is a quality Spanish teacher. Not only does he have a native command of the language (as verified by my Latino co-worker), but Jason is also a skilled language instructor. Two attributes of Jason that I particularly value are his attention to detail and the way he highlights language patterns to facilitate learning. It is evident that Jason has a huge passion for teaching Spanish.

About Hissael
I have been teaching and tutoring students for 6 years now. I teach math and guitar. The thing I love most about my teaching isn't the end result of a student's passing report card or a student's accomplishment of learning a difficult musical piece. It is the effort that takes place between the student and the tasks, along with guidance. The student's ability to think and approach the tasks, whether it is music, math, or English in a way that fully immerses the student's creativity and understanding is at the foundation of my teaching. I can help your child pass his/her tests, I can help them read music and play their favorite songs, but, I encourage them to overcome the challenges that they face when they are on their own in the classroom and practice room. This is the curriculum I teach.

About Jay
Hi. My name is Jay, and I am from sunny San Diego. There are so many things I can tell you about myself but I will just say that I am a very active and goal oriented person. I love being disciplined and focused on everything I do whether it's going to the gym, running a marathon, teaching my students, etc. I believe that everything I do daily brings me closer to my ultimate goals. For this reason, I take self-development seriously. I love tutoring various students because it gives me a chance to meet many like-minded individuals who constantly want to work on themselves and get better. It is very rewarding for me to work hard and see my students grow and achieve their goals. A comfortable and friendly environment is the most important part of my teaching. I look back upon that time as so important in the development of the person that I am today, Teacher Jay changed my whole aspect on my learning. She taught me more than I could have imagined, both about academics and about myself, I wouldn't be where I am today without her. I am so glad to have her in my life , without her I couldn't pass my Ielts Exam, and I have no doubt it was her help that made the difference. She has a strong background about Ielts, Tofel, and others, her techniques and strategy are amazing, she has an excellent resources. I never really believed that I could do well in Ielts, She opened my eyes to what I could be, what I could do in a way that I've never thought possible. Jay tough me meaningful things Such as make a smart decision, never be a fraid to make mistakes, give respect. She tought me that I could achieve more than what I or other people thought that I was capable of. I still remember one lesson where she told me about her hopes for her future, she also told me about her successes, and for some reason, it all resonated with me, and I started to relize that anything really is possible. we became friends and we still keep in touch.
To teacher Jay:
Thank you for staying behind to help me, even I know there are lots of other places you'd rather be.
Thank you for explaining things until I understand.
Thank you for being my teacher and my friend.
Thank you for your kidness and respect.
Thank you isn't really enough to express my gratitude to you.

I learned a lot from Jay’s classes, she helped me with all the linguistic difficulties that any student who doesn’t speak the English Language as thier native language may face. She understand the linguistic barriers of the the non-native English speakers and she knows how to deal with them. The best part of her way of teaching is how she gradually and smoothly moves the ESL students from a basic English level to a higher one!! Challenging the students to give thier best and more for learning purposes is really difficult specially when teaching students from all over the world with huge cultural differences but it is not difficult for a Skilled teacher as Jay!!

Really great vocal teacher. He's very patient to his students. He goes on all the topics about singing. He's really good at helping his students prepare for a song. He doesn't waste time on any unnecessary practice. He teaches his students how to practice at home. I learned a lot of singing terms from him as well. Overall, I think he's a great vocal coach.

I have taken lessons with Ronald since I was 6, I am now 23. In my 17 years of taking lessons I have learned to play piano, sing and am proficient in music theory. In the more recent years I have even had the opportunity to teach music through Ronald. Throughout the years, I have experienced and witnessed the patience and kindness Ronald consistently shows his students. He encourages his students to become better and shares in their enthusiasm due to their accomplishments. Ronald genuinely cares about his students and is dedicated to making sure his students improve. I fully recommend Ronald for students who have parents who want to be involved in the learning process and especially for young children who are just starting out. Ronald works well with families, includes parents every step of the way and is very patient with young students helping them learn in an open and encouraging environment.

Since my childhood, I have always been fond of the French language and culture in such a way that French has become part of my identity. From the first day of preschool to the last day of high school, I studied at a French school. Therefore, I grew up appreciating together this new world with that of Persian tradition. I obtained my Ph.D. degree in French at the Ohio State University where at the same time I worked as a Graduate Teaching Associate instructing French courses for 6 years.
