I have a B.A. in Foreign Languages and Literature issued by the University of Verona, Italy.

I have studied French for several years and I tutored it in the past. I will be very good to teach beginner to intermediate level.

About ENRICO
I am a native Italian speaker with a several years of experience in teaching Italian and English. I am a very easy-going, open-minded, professional person. I like to teach because it gives me the opportunity to meet new students, share my knowledge as well as my culture and experience.

I started tutoring back when I was attending the university in Verona, Italy. I was tutoring English, Math and some other subjects. Later on, I continued teaching English while I was working in other fields. In 2009 I moved to Los Angeles. For a couple of years, I taught ESL in a college, and in the meantime I tutored Italian to private students. Since 2009 I have been tutoring students both on the English and Italian subjects.

I really believe that in teaching, a language a primary focus should be on life skills. Not being an English native-speaker,
I learned how important it is to be able to express basic needs and to perform primary activities. However, it is important to consider other points like grammar, reading, writing. I also think that no matter what a teacher should always take into account the needs of the students and subsequently I plan my classes reflecting on the student's demands.

As to the different approaches and materials that I use, I suppose that it is important to change them frequently in order to keep the classes more interesting. Of course, there are some exceptions. For instance, in the past I taught for a while TOEFL and for that type of classes I used more traditionalist and academic methods and materials.

- T.E.F.L. Certificate for Teaching English as a Foreign Language

- Italian Native Speaker with a several year experience in teaching Italian

- M.A in Foreign Languages and Literature (English and French)

One of my greatest passion is to cook. I was extremely lucky to be taught and introduced to the art of cooking by my grandmother. She was born at the beginning of the previous century and she lived in different cities so she got accustomed to different traditions and shared them with me. I love to cook for smaller groups, using traditional Italian ingredients to prepare simple, but exquisite dishes that belong to the tradition of my native country. If you want to experience some real Italian food, you are definitely in the right hands. Just sit back, relax sip a glass of Italian wine while I cook for you and I share my art.

"Bonjour" and "Bievenue" to French tutoring! As an international singer, I can teach you the ins and outs of French so that you sound like a local, and can keep up in class or when you study abroad. We'll work on grammar, making up your own sentences, practicing conversations, and improving your pronunciation so you sound like a true francophone.

About Nicole
Nicole is available to teach lessons for students of all levels. Beginning her singing career when she was 7, she most recently sang at the Lyric Opera of Chicago, was a winner of the international CS Competition in musical theatre, and is a Chicago F.A.M.E. finalist for Jazz and popular music. Combined with her training and professional experience, Nicole teaches singers to switch gracefully between multiple styles. She practices what she preaches: one night she might be singing Beyoncé, and the next morning she might be singing Handel's Messiah!

Nicole has been a young artist for Cedar Rapids Opera Theatre, Metropolitan International Music Festival, and for Tiroler Opern Programm, under international instructors, including Elizabeth Bachman (from the Metropolitan Opera), Kim Josephson (Metropolitan Opera), Sharon Cheng (Caramoor),
Michael Fennely (Carnegie Hall), Wei-En Hsu (Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra), and Candace Evans (Santa Fe Opera). Nicole earned her Associates in Theatre from Brigham Young University ('12) and went on to acquire her BM in Vocal Performance from Illinois Wesleyan University ('14). Nicole obtained additional training from Boston University, Elon University, and the University of Alaska Anchorage.

Bonjour & bienvenue!

French is my native language and whether you're a beginner or experienced French speaker, I would be happy to:
1) Teach you French from scratch,
2) Enrich your vocabulary & conversational abilities, or
3) Polish your accent to make you sound like a real French person!

---------------Frequently Asked Questions---------------

1- Are you interested in teaching total beginners?

=> Of course! Actually, a lot of my students are beginners. It's fantastic to follow their progress and it's interesting to adapt the class a bit differently for each of them according to their preferences and abilities.

2- What type of lessons would you recommend?

=> For beginner or intermediate level: 60 min lessons
=> For advanced level: 30 min, 45 min or more (100% conversation).
=> For kids: 45 to 60 min, depending how young and how are their focus capabilities.

2- Is scheduling flexible? Do I have to pick a specific day/time and stick with it?

=> I'm very

About Meriem
I'm a native French speaker, but I do understand the joy & challenges of approaching a new language, as I also learned English, Italian and Tunisian (dialect of Arabic).

I moved from France to the USA in 2011 and my main job is being a costume designer specialized in opera. Through my work, I occasionally translate documents or help opera singers with their pronunciation & understanding of French lyrics.
I've also been teaching French privately and I would like to share my love for this language and culture with more students. Takelessons has been an amazing tool for this so far!

I'm looking forward to meeting you online or in my neighborhood (Andersonville in Chicago).

Merci et à bientôt!

When it comes to learning French, I believe that speaking experience is just as important as learning grammar and vocabulary. I emphasize speaking skills and give students the opportunity to practice this throughout my lessons. For students who need help with grammar (one of the trickiest things to learn in French!), I use my experience both as a student and teacher to simplify difficult concepts.

About Emily H.

I have studied French at the university level in both France and Switzerland, having completed university programs at the CEFR C1 level (Advanced) in both places. I have both taught in French and given many French lessons. I would be happy to share my French knowledge with you and get you well on your way towards conversational French!

About Emily
Are you looking to brush up your English skills or try your hand at learning French or German? I would be delighted to help you find your way in navigating these tricky languages.

Allow me to tell you about myself. I am a certified and experienced ESL teacher who has traveled the globe and shared her skills abroad. I have a bachelor's degree in linguistics from Boston University and a master's degree in the same from the Free University in Berlin, Germany. I obtained my TESOL certificate from ITTT in 2010 while I was volunteering in a refugee English class in Denver. The following year I taught ESL to foreign boarding students at a high school in Maine. While living in Germany I taught adult English classes at public community colleges and children's English classes at an after school club, as well as giving multiple private lessons. A
dditionally, I taught ESL to both children and adults at a private school in Switzerland. I have also volunteer taught at English camps for refugee adults and children in Lebanon. Like I said, I've been privileged to offer my skills all over the globe!

I speak both French and German fluently and can teach in these languages if need be, but mostly, having studied linguistics and other languages such as Russian and Arabic, I understand what it's like to be a foreign language learner. I studied the construction of languages and can easily break them down into their parts so that they are easier to wrap your head around.

My skills are not limited to teaching English only, but I am also an experienced proofreader and editor. I have edited myriad documents not only for private individuals but also in the academic and professional sectors. So if you need help with writing or are looking for someone to proofread your written works, I would be happy to offer this service.

Finally, as previously mentioned, I speak both French and German fluently and am happy to help beginner and intermediate learners to acquire these languages. Or if you just want someone to practice your skills with I can serve as your conversational partner! I love giving private lessons because that way I can connect with each student individually and tailor the lesson especially to meet his or her needs!

I look forward to meeting you and helping you on your linguistic way!

I come from a bilingual; French American family. This allows me to communicate effectively with the people that are wanting to learn. We will go from the basics, working our way up.

About Alice
I have been shooting since 2005. Since, then I have been on the USA Archery National Teams several years in a row, as well as traveled to international countries to compete. I have been on the Recurve Junior Dream Team for a year, before I aged out, but before that I was attending camps as an invitee. I've also lived at the Olympic Training Center out in Chula Vista, CA for a few months shooting besides some of the top archers in the country. Since in college, I have been on the archery teams at all the schools I've been to. I was All American for two years in a row, hoping for a thrid chance at it. At the Florida Institute of Technology, I have started up an Archery Club, hoping to get the team to nationals, placing the school on the map for other archers to join.

I am a Level 2 Coach, aiming for her level 3 NTS Coaching Certificatio
n, and with my background experience I want to introduce this amazing sport to all individuals so they can also enjoy it to their hearts content. I used to coach at a range in Massachussets, as well as give private lessons at home, before moving down to Melbourne for college. I also make custom recurve bow strings, and tune equipment.

I provide private lessons, helping the students get comfortable with the sport before getting them to farther distances. I want the studnets to love thst sport that I do, by intergrating games into practices. When and if the students want to do group lessons, those can also be arranged to allow them to get used to shooting with their peers.

I love being able to teach people the sport that changed my life. I love seeing the smile on the childrens faces when they accomplish things they didnt excpect. I love seeing the expression on adults faces when they over come their doubt, and learn to enjoy the sport and relax into it.

I have been teaching my native language for more than 7 years and I still enjoy sharing my love and great interest in the French language.
My experience in teaching full classes or private tutoring has made me someone patient, understanding and flexible. Whatever the time it takes, I want to see my students succeed and have fun while learning.
As a teacher, I know that every student is unique and it is dear to my heart to respond and adapt to each one. That is why I first suggest one lesson to determinate together your goals and a plan to achieve them. Also, because everyone has special needs and different ways to memorize, I am used to exploit multiple course materials (videos, board games, text books, role plays, etc.) to facilitate the learning process and make it really enjoyable.

About Aurore
I have a Bachelor’s degree in Classical Literature.
I have taught French and Latin in Middle and High Schools (from 6th to 12th grades) for more than 7 years in Paris and Lyon (France), until I left for New York in June 2019.
I am trained to teach French as a Foreign Language (FLE) and have audited classes of the Master’s degree in Foreign Languages, Literatures and Civilization – specialization English at Paris Sorbonne Nouvelle University (Paris III, France). This considerably strengthened my love and understanding of the American and British cultures, languages and histories.
I have also chosen to devote myself to French-Latin private tutoring to high school students and the organization of literacy workshops to teach French as a foreign language to young people and adult immigrants in France. These activities considerably develope
d my teaching skills and taught me how to make the French language accessible to a non-francophone audience.
Preparation to exams, refresher trainings or just learning French as a hobby, I would be glad to help you the best that I can. I am available, approachable and a great listener, thus I would be happy to take any questions you may have!
