For more than 20 years, I have been developing the character and leadership of youths and adults through the game of Chess.

About Harlan
Congratulations! You are headed in the right direction. Learning how to play Chess will improve your life in more ways than you could ever imagine. My students call me Coach Hodge. I am a Chess, Character, Leadership and Life Coach.

I help my students develop strategies for winning in Chess, but more importantly, I help them learn how to win in the game of Life. Life is Chess. Learning the rules; having a plan; losing gracefully; winning gracefully; and learning from every experience are just a few of the life lessons that come from the game of Chess.

As an international Chess Coach and published author of Character Chess, I teach the basics of Chess to beginners. All of my lessons are designed to get students started playing and winning right away. Enough with the talk. Let's get started.

I am a very good chess player. I was trained by my father and many other family members on how to challenge even an expert at chess. I am also willing to teach the basic rules to those who have never played this sport of the mind before. I am willing to share strategies and secrets performed by experts. I will even demonstrate them.

About Danschnieder
Hello my name is Danschneider. I cannot wait to meet all of you. I have been teaching chess, singing, English, algebra, and basic Math since 2002. I am more than happy to teach in-home, or in-studio to anyone. I have been a martial arts practitioner since the age 15, in different martial arts reigning from Hung Gar kung fu, Karate, and my specialty the Filipino martial art of Eskrima. I have years of experience teaching drawing from basic line drawing, to shading, coloring, etc.. I write my own original poems. I have been working with two non- profit groups such as KIWANIS and S.I.P.A. Under KIWANIS I became more in tuned with different kinds of people.I'm also very good with the children and teens. S.I.P.A. was a program where I worked with children from ages 6-12. I might not be a parent, but I know how to keep the kids enthusiastic and
cheerful . I am willing to teach and work with anyone.

I teach chess in school settings and private lessons. The skill of students ranges from beginner to intermediate. Some of my students have ratings up to 1200. I can teach you at your home, at my home, or a public place like a library or coffee shop. A typical lesson will be an hour and include a quick chess puzzle, a substantive and level-appropriate lesson, and a challenge game with analysis. All lessons are very dependent on student level, and may include only some of those components.

About Josh
Hi!

I have been working with students for several years in formal and informal settings. I have a degree in psychology, with a minor in statistics. I recently began coaching chess at several local DC area schools, and tutoring private students. I love to help people learn a new subject, and I am especially passionate about engendering the joy of learning in young people.

Thanks!
Josh

I've been playing chess for about 8 years. Aside from being a strong player, I also have experience tutoring players of all ages and skill levels. This includes my time spent instructing a very competitive and successful high school chess team as well as serving as a personal tutor for different families in their homes. Of the hours I have formally tutored, I have amassed a 5 star rating on a comparable website.

About John
Here goes...
I am a chess teacher, tutor, singer, and Shakespearean actor in NYC! I guess you could say I wear a lot of hats.

I graduated with honors in 2009 from New York University with a BFA in Drama. I've been professionally teaching since 2012, but I have always loved sharing the game of chess with anyone who wants to learn (just ask my friends).

Students can expect to face new challenges and to improve each and every week. I am happy to work with students of all different ages and experience levels. Strong analytical skills.
I've been playing chess for 20 years
I've reached a 2020 elo on lichess
I estimate my elo rating in otb (over the board) to be somewhere between 2100-2300 and close to master level or even Grandmaster level for slower games.
I know a lot of cool ways to improve at chess and how to teach to get better at analysis and improving your chess/understanding/reviewing your games.
I would love to work with you and help boost your elo by hundreds of points (especially those under 1800 elo) or beginners/intermediate players.
I'm willing to teach all levels.

About Stephen
Currently looking for new students.
I teach piano, japanese, chess, go(weiqi/baduk), and meditation/self-improvement.
I am very proficient in all of the above subjects and have helped dozens of students reach their long-term goals over the years. I am also very patient and have taught children piano lessons for more than 10 years. As a learner I know how overwhelming new subject-matter could be and I tend to understand the pace that the student needs/wants to go at.
I feel a huge sense of accomplishment when I see my students improving. I also am constantly improving myself as a teacher so the lessons will only get better and the material should be easier to understand with time.
Let's master anything you want to work on, and have a lot of fun too :)
Thanks for reading!
-Stephen

Patient instructor. I'm super rusty and he was able to keep at my pace. He also made it interesting by using practical scenarios and alternating with cartoons or games. He watches anime as well so I was able to learn while talking about things I like. It helped practicing much easier.

日本語の理解が深い。四字熟語とかことわざとかもいっぱい知っているし、漢字も教えられるし、上級者でも授業を受けてもいいと思う。初心者を教えるところも見たことあって、わかりやすく説明してくれた。
I think that both advanced learners and beginners could benefit from taking one of his lessons.

I am a United States Chess Federation affiliate and a certified club tournament director. I was ranked in the top 5% in the United States in 2015. I was a high school chess coach for 5 years and I currently teach chess at 4 community centers and at a private school. I would like an opportunity to fulfill your tutoring needs.

About Donald
I have over 13 years of tutoring and teaching experience. I was a math teacher at Triton Regional High School from 2004 to 2015. While there, I also tutored homebound students and coached the chess team. I thoroughly enjoy the one on one experience of tutoring. It gives me the opportunity to build one's confidence and fill in any gaps a student may have in the foundation of the subject being taught to them. Please don't hesitate to contact me to learn more and/or to possibly schedule lessons.
