I love teaching art! I taught in the South Carolina school system for 5 years before having children but continued to teach privately at home. Now I teach evening classes twice a week to adults and we focus mainly on painting with acrylics. I have approximately 25 students and I'm amazed at how they are improving week to week..... and how much fun we have! I am great at teaching step-by-step lessons and encouraging students to add their own creative & unique touches. Also, I own a wholesale company called My Island.... I sell my art to retailers in the US and Caribbean; my designs are reproduced on tote bags, placemats, pillows, canvases, and lots more. I am also a successful Etsy Shop Owner.... GiftandhomebyGerri. I welcome music (mine or yours) while we paint......painting is my favorite thing in the world and I'd love to teach you!

About Gerri

Hi there! I am Gerri Hyman and first and foremost.... I love to paint! I graduated from the University of South Carolina with a degree in Advertising and later received my art education certification from Lander University. I taught elementary art lessons for several years before having my 3 son

First thing I do before first day of class is send out an enthusiastic email and call shortly after. Briefly discussing and establishing the learning goals for the course based on the visual literacy, technical, and intellectual competencies the students should achieve by the end of a period is ideal for me to design the course or update an existing course for the student's desired outcomes. The syllabus and the schedule are completed along with a comprehensive strategy for what will take place during class.

About Priscilla

I am from a musical and visual arts family from Brazil and my background ranges from classical, pop, rock and a jazz solo and group arrangements. I thrive in creating a friendly learning experience for each of my students that is personalized to their needs no matter the age or background. I believ

I have been a professional oil painter for 36 years and have taught oil and acrylic painting classes fro over a decade. I teach a casual, fun but serious style class. My goal is to teach the basics of creating a simple strong painting in a semi realistic style. However, my goal is to allow the student to develop their own individual style. Understanding the creative process is also key to making good art.

About Daniel

My name is Dan. The only thing that I love more than painting is teaching students how to paint. I call my teaching method, "serious play". In other words, I want the students to learn something of value during each class, but also to enjoy the creative process that is key to making a successful p

Keep the brushes wet, make every stroke count! Very patient - you’ve just got to do it. Been invaluable in guiding the composition - he can’t hold the brush for you! For a “left brained” person like myself I need to get the “slap”!😄

"What a pleasure it was having Sheldon come in and teach our youth! We planned a night of creativity for our youth at our church and Sheldon kindly volunteered and provided materials for our teens to have an awesome experience. He gave expert advise and technique but also embraced everyone creative side. Hope to have another night with Sheldon as our teacher. Super fun night!!"

"I've worked closely with Tim at a kids edutainment facility a few years ago. He's both a great leader and educator. He's always coming up with new and creative ideas to engage the kids and played a key role in the facility's success. My daughter would look forward to going in and learning different artistic techniques and other creative ideas from him, and i can proudly say that she auditioned for and was accepted into all of her magnet schools of choice using many of the techniques he taught her. Art has become her favorite subject, and she has a clear view of her career goals in this field, and i know Tim played a valuable role in her artistic development."

"I'm a believer in classical education so Kai was a perfect match as a teacher. Watching his demonstrations I visually register the method, and then the feedback I get on my drawings points me where I am lacking. I had all these ideas I wanted to draw/paint, but I couldn't form the correct shapes. I still have a long way to go to make those pieces but as van Gogh said "So that what used to seem to me to be desperately impossible is now gradually becoming possible". I guarantee you, learning realistic drawing will fuel your creativity even more.
Kai is an interactive teacher, so you will also hear many great stories and the names of many great artists that you can explore."
