Following the release of their 2008 debut album Cannot Rearrange, the band’s music was featured in multiple films and television commercials. Jen has been sought out by many other artists seeking her particular blend of expertise and p
erformance savvy. She relishes the chance to put her skills to the test in a wide variety of musical genres. In addition to writing and performing, Jen keeps busy as a private instructor to dozens of aspiring guitarists. She also has done over 1000 online instructional videos totaling up to more than 40 million views for YouTube and Mahalo website. Vir is a gifted teacher. He has taught my son guitar for more than a year. He meets my son where ever he's at in his practice, attention and interests with calm, skilled focus and intention . Vir's background as performing musician infuses his teaching with an enthusiasm and creativity of practicing his teaching. We are truly grateful for Vir.

Vir is beyond your typical vocal coach. He was a huge help on things like pitch accuracy and phrasing, but more than anything, his focus on getting me to tap into and harness my inner power has already paid huge dividends in my recordings and performances. Further, Vir is an amazing person to know and his home-studio in Berkeley is magnificent!
I have taught quite a few bass students even though I am primarily a guitarist. I have years of experience playing myself and have been bassist in various bands.
I have a deep knowledge of the fretboard and music theory so if you want to learn the neck better I can help you out. My specialties are Pop, Blues, and Jazz.
If you like blues, we will learn to play a song pretty much the first day and then we learn theory, different riffs, and more songs as we go on. We also can work on improvisation and accompanying other instruments.
If Jazz is your focus, we will start doing some blues as that is fundamental and you can learn songs fast. Then we'll branch out into arpeggios and some theory. After that we apply the theory to actual jazz standards and learn how to create cool bass lines over chord changes.
If you want to do pop/learn songs you love, I will help you learn good technique and we'll learn things on a song by song basis.
No matter what style you want to ...

Jaxon the Guitarist: I am a Doctoral Guitar Major at USC studying classical guitar. I have been playing the guitar for over 20 years and teaching for 15. My main style is classical, and due to the technical training I have had since I was very young, it has been very easy for me to learn and master other styles such as Flamenco, Rock, Jazz, Blues, Pop, Country. I have a passion for performing and have played hundreds of solo and ensemble concerts. As a classical performer I have won prizes in numerous competitions, including the Pacific Guitar Competition, San Francisco Guitar Competition, Sierra Nevada Competition, and the OSAA Oregon State Competition. I have played concerts all over the United States as well as in Spain and Mexico. As a performer of other styles I have played in many orig
inal and cover bands and have won high school and University level battle of the bands competitions. I was a Northwest regional finalist in Guitar Center's "King of the Blues" competition as well. I recently won a Fulbright Scholarship to study Spanish and Flamenco Guitar in Seville, Spain for 2015 and 16.
Jaxon the Teacher: I really love spreading the knowledge I've learned over the years about the guitar, bass guitar, songwriting, music theory, and everything music related to my students. I find a huge sense of fulfillment in seeing my students understand and enjoy learning and making beautiful music. Jaxon is an excellent guitarist but also a great educator and communicator. My son's guitar skills have significantly improved since he began lessons thanks to Jaxon's instruction. We highly recommend him as a teacher.
My name is Ray, I'm 31 years old, and was born in Queens, NY. I studied classical music for many years as a youngster at the Aaron Copeland School of Music college preparatory program. During this program I was introduced to Jazz, and around the same time began experimenting with synthesizers. I went on to study Electronic Production & Design at Berklee College of Music in Boston, and quickly became a very sought after studio musician and performer.
I've been successfully teaching many instruments and proficiency levels for approximately 16 years now, and can say with pride that teaching is my passion, and I anticipate it remaining a very important part of my life.
I enjoy reading nonfiction books on science, math, and philosophy.
*** Lesson Details *** My music lessons are unique for three main reasons:
1. I h
ave a very deep understanding of music, sound, and theory, and feel music to be one of my native languages.
2. I have devoted considerable amounts of time and energy studying neuroscience, which has greatly improved my understanding of the learning process.
3. I have been blessed with the tremendous amount of patience necessary to guide a student through the necessary steps it takes to learn at whatever pace is optimal, in order to maximize the efficiency of the learning process for each individual.
*** Equipment *** Students must have their own instrument, and purchase their own materials (books, etc). From time to time I make my way to a local music shop, and am happy to purchase materials for reimbursement.
*** Specialties *** Classical music is my background, and what I believe to be the most cognitively and emotionally fulfilling style of music to listen to, study, and play. That said, I'm also a big fan of pop music (as well as other genres), and encourage students to enjoy, for example, learning their favorite songs from the radio.
My understanding of music theory is extremely thorough, and I'm happy to incorporate as much or as little of it as the student's interest dictates, nevertheless maintaining the minimal amount of theory necessary to get the most out of learning music and the instrument.
Thanks for checking out my profile! Please contact me with any additional questions you may have, as well as to inquire about day/time availability. I'll do my best to get back to you right away (usually within a few hours).
My daughter is loving her cello lessons with Ray even more than she expected. She feels she is really improving.
March 28, 2014
My son and daughter both take from Ray and they love him!!! My daughter started with him after she had had 2 other teachers and she improved immediately. She loves going to Ray because he teaches her to play the songs that she likes. Now she plays so many songs for memory!! My son loves going to piano and is always excited to see Ray.
It is my experience that no matter what kind of music you end up playing a solid classical piano background is invaluable. I was privately trained in classical piano from the ages 5 - 17 in Los Angeles, California. My teachers were Mary Brady, Mae Gilbert Reese and Jeane Weiss. I graduated from Harvard High School and then graduated from UCLA with BA in art. I am a Los Angeles based artist and composer. Recently I was nominated Best Music Director of the year by the L.A. Weekly for my work on 'Head the Musical' at the Met Theater Los Angeles in 2010. I am currently mounting an opera I wrote at the Met Theater. I have been teaching private piano lessons to students ages 8 to adult for the last six years.
My experience as a musical director has honed my skills as a good communicator and teacher. I know how to get people trained an
d motivated to perform on stage with confidence no matter what their skill level.
*** Lesson Details *** My lessons focus on reading, technique and basic music theory. I always start my lessons with scales and exercises. This develops good technique and primes the student for music theory. The rest of the lesson is focused on reading and performance. I expose students to different classical composers like Bach, Mozart and Beethoven. Once they have mastered a few pieces, students are then encouraged to study the composers they enjoy the most. It is important for students to enjoy the music that they are learning as I expect them to practice everyday.
I only had the pleasure of taking piano lessons with Robert for two months since I got into Harvard and had to move to the East Coast, but I can confidently attest that he is a phenomenal teacher. To begin with, Robert brings to the table not only his classical training but also an open, creative, out-of-the-box approach. He is extremely knowledgeable and seasons lessons with fantastic facts about composers and pieces which makes everything a lot more interesting and memorable. lessons are versatile and designed to develop several key skills simultaneously. I never really played the piano before but after only two months with Robert I could read notes, develop my technique and actually play two beautiful pieces! If you are looking for a well-rounded, brilliant, cool teacher - search no more.
I focus on musicality when I teach any instrument. With the bass, that means keeping great rhythm, playing melodic bass lines that compliment the piece, and playing with careful expressiveness.
We learn from the greats (Beatles, Police, Radiohead, etc) and learn to create and express from there.
I'm an avid music fan familiar with rock (indie rock, classic rock, alternative), pop, funk, disco, and classical genres. Music has been my "thing" since the day I was born and I love connecting with people through their favorite music.
My lessons focus on empowering each student with the skills to play what they want to play.
If you want to have a good time playing great music, you've come to the right teacher!
*** Lesson Details *** You and I work on simple exercises that help get you to the next level in your performance and then apply the principle taught to a piece of music you are familiar with. It's a great method that gets you playing what you want to play at the level you want to play it at.
*** Studio Equipment *** All of the instruments that I teach (guitar, bass, upright bass) as well as recording gear (Pro Tools
, mics, synths, etc.)
*** Travel Equipment *** Any instrument that I teach.
*** Specialties *** Classical Upright Bass and Music Production (mixing, mastering, Pro Tools recording, beat sequencing)

David is a multi-instrumentalist, music producer, and mix engineer who works with artists at varying levels developing their skills, creativity, and music. Over the course of nearly 2 decades playing in bands and working in music production, David knows the skillset and mindset necessary to perform at a professional level.
In 2015, David was nominated for a Pensado Award for "Most Unique Project Studio" and followed that up in 2016 sharing the stage with Jimmy Eat World and Neon Trees.
David's passion for creativity, performing, and connecting with people are what drives him.
I'm re-learning the piano with David and he has changed my relationship to music for the better. After only a few lessons with David I've gotten a greater understanding of music theory than I had in my few years of early piano training. He is patient and flexible with his style of teaching. If it's taking me awhile to understand a concept he's good at explaining it more clearly. I definitely recommend him for learning the piano!

David is a highly skilled multi-instrumentalist and producer. I was introduced when he recorded an EP for my band and since then, we've spent many an evening talking about performing, recording, teaching and making music. He is kind, patient and extremely knowledgable about his craft. I always learn something new, interesting and immediately applicable to my playing when I work with him. I've had the privilege of sharing the stage with some of his students and they have always been exceptionally professional and prepared. I highly recommend David for lessons in whatever discipline you request - the crossover knowledge from all of his experiences will be invaluable to you.

David has exceeded my expectations. He is a fantastic teacher and person. I look forward to continue to acquire the skills necessary to play the guitar with his help and guidance. I am so lucky that he is there for me.
Not only did I learn how to play the songs I like, but I also learned key musical concepts and theories that helped to advance my music
al skills outside of lessons. I thoroughly enjoyed having Rob as a teacher."
I chose John because of his extensive experience as a professional musician and recommend him highly if you are looking for a great
instructor. If his patience with this 44 year old starting musician is any indication, I'm certain he's good with anyone at any age!"
"Matthew is a great instructor. He weaves together Theory and practical application seamlessly. A lot is covered in a short time."
"Greg is an amazing teacher! His understanding of the bass and musical theory really helped me progress in my playing. Definitely recommend to anyone looki
ng to be a better musician."
"Kyle is great, good since of humor and takes the time needed to explain anything you need!!"
"I'm not really good with word but Tim is a very knowledgeable Guitar instructor, very patient, and friendly!"
"Eric is the best! He’s extremely knowledgeable, patient and fun to learn from. I’m a bit shy and anxious and he’s so understanding. Looking forward to con
tinuing my bass journey with him!"
"I've only had a couple of lessons so far, but am very, very pleased. Instead of being the next guy to show up, and Jonathan trying to remember who I am an
d what I'm here for, Jonathan actually spent time through the week looking for resources that would help me and what I want to accomplish. While I spend 30 minutes a week in the actual lesson, and I spend some time throughout the week practicing, Jonathan is actually investing time for the lesson outside of the lesson, and that's really important to me.
Jonathan has a very diverse background, and experience with lots and lots of instruments and musical styles, which all help in the lessons - strategies from concert bass that electric bass players can incorporate, chord inversions common to classical music which can help "pop" type progressions to move forward better, and places where it's appropriate to play funk or Latin styles in straight-ahead folk sorts of tunes. I highly recommend Jonathan, even if just to sit and talk about music for a couple of hours."
"Akos is great! He was understanding, and working with me to achieve my goals, which was to play a small concert with my band. He helped me work on the son
