About Marc

I've been playing music since I was 14 years old. I studied classical guitar at State University in Buffalo, NY. and also studied guitar at the Berklee College of Music in Boston. I love just about every style of music. I mostly play Celtic, Bluegrass, American traditional, jazz, and classical. I a

He is very good with me. I'm not a very good student. I have bad habits and I'm overly sensitive to criticism, yet he has not made me feel bad at all about my playing if you want to call it that. I also have a short attention span and can't read music fluently. But his patience is much appreciated, and each week get a little better at it all. I recommend him to those trying their best to sound a little better.

It was really good information and I had a lot of fun.

I have been taking fiddle/violin lessons from Marc for a few months now, and it has been a great experience. He is very patient and keeps things fun by helping me learn pieces that I am interested in learning to play. I would highly recommend him for any instrument you are wanting to learn.

I am interested in teaching people in the ways they learn best, using the best methods available. I keep up with brain and learning research and attempt to incorporate into my teaching new understandings of learning and how the brain processes music. Because each student is unique, with her own learning style, motivation, goals, and desires, each lesson is uniquely tailored to that student, while still including standard elements necessary for establishing an excellent technique, and an ever-increasing knowledge of music theory, history, literature, performance, and practicing skills.

I teach violin using traditional, Suzuki, Rolland, and other methods. I use traditional methods for piano lessons and use Faber, Bastien, and many other methods. My violin group classes are a unique blend of Suzuki and my own methodologies. I will consider any instructional books you have but can’t promise they will be used.

About Patricia

Music gives me great joy! From my first lessons as a child to orchestral performances at the Musikverein in Vienna, and whether I'm playing in my own home, at Disneyland, or for 6,000 at an Easter celebration in Lady Lakes, Florida, music experiences have been THE peak experiences of my life. Patti is a very patient knowledgeable teacher. Enjoyed every minute of our lessons and learned so much. She is also very funny I enjoy her humor.

In the past, Ms Brimberry taught both my daughers. When I decided to learn piano, I contacted her. My online classes with her has been an excellent educational experience. My preconceived ideas about learning piano were quickly dispelled as she constructed lessons to both my weaknesses and strengths. She corrected rhythmic errors by analyzing my learning style and then helped me to be precise in my technique and reading. She spent a great deal of time showing how to interpret what a composer intended. Ms. Brimberry was always prepared for my lessons, often bringing the world of music through biographies and history that made each lesson dynamic within the context of the composers era. Finally, she taught me how to practice; a skill that has saved me a great deal of time.

I love teaching strings. Violin is my main instrument. I focus heavily on bow technique. I have gotten students into youth orchestras and passed college auditions. I like to use the Essential Elements and Suzuki books.
I also offer online group lessons at a highly discounted price. I suggest that all my students join. This is a great option for kids while class is out.

Throughout my musical training, I have worked with distinguished performers and educators in the classical music community. I have studied with Lawrence Dutton (of the Emerson String Quartet), and Nicholas Cords (of Brooklyn Rider), Karen Ritscher (of Manhattan School of Music), and Nancy Buck (of Arizona State University). My teachers have been taught by some of the most eminent string pedagogues of their generation, including Dorothy Delay, Karen Tuttle, Lilian Fuchs, Harvey Shapiro, and Heidi Castleman. This broad survey of teaching styles and philosophies gives me a great breadth of knowledge which I apply to each student.

I have been teaching for over a decade in many settings. These include: my own private studio, TakeLessons, music stores, and performing arts studios.

Before earning my masters degree in performance, I was honored to be awarded a Teaching Assistantship for the viola studio of Professor Nancy Buck at Arizona State University. During my teaching ...

"My son has been taking violin lessons with Hallie for almost one year. He started just after he turned 4. My concern when he started was that he was too young but Hallie has obviously taught kids his age before and knows what she is doing. She is creative in order to keep a four year old interested and engaged. She is also warm and positive. Most importantly, he's really learning how to play and about music in general - it is a wonderful feeling when he makes strides and does something that seemed so out-of-reach before."

"Elizabeth is a phenomenal instructor! Both kind and patient, she is incredibly knowledgeable and takes the time to help me understand the nuances of technique or the background of a particular piece of music. I'm nowhere near a natural player, but her approach to structuring my lessons and practice activities fits my needs as a learner, especially considering that I am an adult student juggling a myriad of other responsibilities. Elizabeth is adept at tailoring her lessons and long-term approach to my growth as a player to my skills and challenges, so that I not only immensely enjoy the experience, but also feel the growth I am making each and every week. She's the best I've ever had!!"
